  1. I think the change is more the players than coaching. Coles was with this team all of last year and Craig was managing for almost the full season. Getting rid of Segura and Gomez who blindly hacked at anything and everything makes a big difference too. Can never judge a manager when he comes in during the middle of a season. This is his first real season and off-season. I agree with it having to do with the players they have brought in as well but we have seen better AB's from the guys who have been on this team and in this system as well. Scooter is going to have more walks by May 1st than he did all last season. That is realistic. Now it is sad that he waled that few of times last season but great that he is starting to change his approach a little bit. I hope this is a whole organization emphasis. I could only image how great Arcia could be if we started to walk a little bit (10% clip would be great imo) Walks have been great! (Since this is the positive forum I will not discuss the K%) Through 6 games BB% Maldy 25% Villar 22.7% Walsh 20% Gennett 18.2% Santana 14.8% Rivera 14.3% Carter 12.5% Braun 12.5% Broxton 12.5% Lucroy 10% - - - - - - - - - - Black sheep of the club Aaron Hill 4.8% Ramon Flores 0% Kirk Niuwenhuis 0% Not trying to say that I'm right or wrong about coaches making the difference but 5 of the top 10 are new or newish (Santana) to the organization. And I understand that the bottom 3 are all new to the team too.

  3. What pot would Peralta sweeten? A pot full of salt and vinegar?
  4. [sarcasm]No.[/sarcasm]
  5. The only time I remember Peralta talked about as a potential ace was posters here after his somewhat good 2014.
  6. Well I predicted 25 total runs and Wily's doing his best to get us there.
  7. He was an above average hitter last year as a 23 year old. Hill is done offensively. Other than 200 sporadic at bats the last couple of years (with a bunch of bad at bats in between) Nieuwenhuis has never been a good hitter either. I agree that neither of them offer much but I don't see a problem with hitting Villar 9th. Might as well give the top of the order a chance to drive in some runs.
  8. If it wasn't for Rizzo, Schwarber would be playing 1B. His "versatility" is out of necessity not ability. Schwarber was projected to be 2-3 WAR this season. In his prime, Prince was 4-5. They are not the same class of player. What do you think Prince's WAR would have looked like if he had to catch or play in the outfield? Just one more example of WAR being misused. Which is why I think WAR is worse than useless. Well let's just look at offense then. Prince's Brewers OPS is almost 100 points higher than Schwarber's so far. And it's irrelevant what Prince's WAR would be had he played outfield because he didn't. Schwarber has to because they have a great 1B and two much better defensive catchers. They are both DH's forced to play the field but Prince had the good fortune of playing a position where his lack of defensive skills hurt the team less.
  9. Villar doesn't have the bat to hit in the top or middle of the lineup. And I get that he's 24 but this is his 4th big league season. I'm not sure how much more development is left in him.
  10. That has been addressed with the rule change. Fielders now have to touch the base and it is reviewable. The Indians broadcasters were having an interesting discussion about the play today and I feel they made a good point. Villar had no intention of trying to throw to first base. Even if he did it wasn't going to be close even if Rasmus just ran out of the base path instead of sliding. Can you really call a guy out when the defense makes no effort to actually get him out?
  11. Might as well start him. It's easier to take a starter and put him in the bullpen then take a reliever and ask him to go 5 or 6 innings.

  13. Over or under 25 total runs scored tonight? I'm expecting a 4 hour barrage of offense with these two on the mound.
  14. What a d-bag move by Roberts. I hope that they lose this game. I disagree. Young pitcher, first start of the year had tommy john once already and has never thrown 100 pitches before. No way he is going to reasonably finish that game when he has 100 pitches and 5 outs to go. Roberts made an unpopular but pretty easy decision here. Exactly. It was the smart move. If he actually completed the no hitter he's probably around 130 pitches. Johan Santana or Bud Smith come to mind?
  15. Really - Loathe? Loathe: To hate (someone or something) very much http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/loathe I just don't see how someone could "hate" GoGo. He never portrayed himself to be someone he wasn't. He was always the smiling, positive attitude, give 110%, perfect role model that you wish all athletes would show once in a while. Carlos has had nothing but positive comments about Milwaukee and said today "How much did it mean to Carlos Gomez to play in Milwaukee? He said when he retires he wants to do it as a Brewer." - @haudricourt I just honestly don't get the hate. Unreal All the talent in the world and a ten cent baseball mind. That's why. I didn't hate him but he was incredibly frustrating to watch. If he wasn't swinging so hard he fell down he was thinking he could run where ever and whenever he wanted.
  16. FSGO has been crap tonight. Pictures goes away and sound stays. Sound gets lagged behind picture that keeps freezing. Both stop randomly. Haven't had any issues with it this year until tonight.
  17. Not a bad option but attempting to relocate a team to another town isn't a snap of the fingers... Issues of location & league balance need to be considered.. After the Indians got involved with Columbus RedStixx (South Atlantic League) it took years to get the franchise moved to Lake County (OH) and then another of years to get realigned and part of the Midwest League.. The Colorado Springs move is going to lead to like 4 other teams moving. I think moving one team would be easy. Especially since there is only one AAA league as opposed to the multiple leagues at every other level, so location is really irrelevant. If Nashville can play in the Pacific Coast League, then geography is meaningless.
  18. Neither could Fielder. You can hide a guy at first. You can't really in the outfield and certainly not behind the plate. I don't think Schwarber is anywhere near the hitter Fielder was either.
  19. Open up the checkbook and buy your own AAA team Mark and move it where ever you want. This is the obvious answer.
  20. Will this really hurt them that much? He's got a lot of potential in that bat but he can't play defense at any position.
  21. Scooter is playing this year to quiet the BrewerFan.net haters.
  22. Segura's problem is his approach. Until he decides he's going to be more selective at the plate, he's not going to have much success. A change in stance isn't going to help that. Personally, I don't care if he becomes a Hall of Famer, I was sick of watching him flail away at the plate without making an adjustment for three years so I'm glad he's gone.
  23. As I looked outside at the Wisconsin weather ruining another high school baseball season I was thinking about how if effects MLB games. Of the "cold weather" MLB cities only two (Milwaukee and Seattle, and Seattle is a stretch as a cold weather city) have a dome. And of all those cities only the Rockies and Chicago teams haven't built a new stadium since 2000. I know you're only dealing with a few weeks out of the year but it's crazy that they play outdoor baseball in Minneapolis and Detroit in early April.
