  1. It's already been said he's playing 1B next year. Reilly pretty much summed it up. Constantly hurt, can't play defense, massive and lengthy contract, downside of career, totally inconsistent... no thanks. If Boston was willing to pay about half of his total contract and the Brewers were actually looking to contend next year, then maybe.
  2. Gattis has a .737 OPS this season playing in a silo. That translates to a 99 OPS+. He also adds nothing on defense no matter where you play him. Homeruns are great but when it's all you can do it's not as beneficial. I don't know if Davis could bring back a better haul than Gattis but I would take Khris over Evan every day of the week.
  3. This happened on Sunday. The people sitting behind me were trying to figure out the subs. I thought I understood the moves but they utterly confused me. I also miss that they don't show scoring decision on the scoreboard anymore. Is used to be in the lower right hand corner where they showed MPH. They still show MPH but not scoring.
  4. [sarcasm]Dave Stewart "paid his dues" and has made some brilliant moves in AZ.[/sarcasm]
  5. That commercial where two guys are talking at work about some big project and the one guy is being considered to lead it. So he asks, "You have your Masters, right?" Because that is what determines how well someone can lead a project.
  6. I agree it's probably for the best but it would be nice for him to get over the potential mental hurdle of pitching to a batter before February.
  7. Sure seems like this came on quickly. He was raking then all of a sudden out of the lineup because of a sore back and now needs surgery. All in a span of about 4 days.
  8. Care to elaborate because I can't recall him ever being a jerk? And all 3 HBPs on Saturday were "accidental." Ri-i-i-i-i-ght. Did you see them? One was in the leg, one grazed the elbow, and maybe the Rodney one was intentional? And he actually said they were going to do it. It's not like everyone else who deny's everything. He flat out said they were going to retaliate. That's not being a jerk, that's telling the Cards that they are sick of their crap and going to give it right back to them. Or do you prefer the Macha approach to things of writing a letter to the commissioner?
  9. Care to elaborate because I can't recall him ever being a jerk?
  10. Getting back to Maddon and the Cards stupidity, I have always wanted some team make a big deal about the Cards hitting one of their guys and how they can expect revenge at some point and then never do it. Just to make every Cardinals hitter have that in their mind when their in the box. Maybe, that's what Maddon is actually doing here.
  11. Especially when one of their former players does it too. I've always been surprised that Lohse never had anything to say about the Cards since he's been a Brewer.
  12. Agreed. Cubs fans are the worst but I am somewhat pulling for this team. It's like the Royals last year. I wanted to see them win but I didn't like that that would somehow validate Yost as a manager.
  13. Matt Holiday gets hit. Cards hit Rizzo. http://www.csnchicago.com/cubs/maddon-blows-cardinals-were-not-going-put Dan Haren calls out the Cards organization for what we all know they do.
  14. They hired a big firm to do the hire. Let them do their job and get some options.
  15. Exactly. I made this exact same post earlier in this thread but some posters just like to focus on the "Garza refused to pitch" line which is probably not even true.
  16. It's a guarantee that at some point in the future he will be an ex-Brewer.
  17. http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/73955164/v485395383/chcpit-baez-nabs-florimon-with-95mph-throw-home Since we're posting videos can someone explain how this is not blocking the plate without the ball? They even reviewed it and he was still out. Doesn't standing spread eagle over the plate without the ball constitute blocking the plate?
  18. http://m.mlb.com/video/topic/6479266/v485731983/chcpit-kang-exits-with-injury-after-double-play Chris Coghlan slide on Kang: dirty or hard slide? I'll probably side more on dirty here. He slid away from the bag with his feet up. I would expect Cole or Burnett to give him one in the ear the next time either faces him.
  19. Similar to what the Pirates did to Davies. The ump doesn't have to give time. Just because Seager is standing in the box with his hand up acting like a jack wagon doesn't mean you give him time. I like that Weaver wasted no time and just drilled him right away. Too bad Weaver only throws mid 80's.
  20. Ya. He always looks like he's on the verge on breaking into tears. Except when he's spitting on umpires.
  21. Really? I thought the zone was pretty tight. I was surprised more of them weren't called strikes.
  22. Ortiz might have been doing something but he was always a power hitter in the minors. I think the biggest thing for him was getting away from Minnesota who were more interested in bunting and hitting ground balls to the right side than hitting for power. His OPS increased 150 points when he went to Boston so I think the combination of playing for a team that let him play to his strengths and playing in a more power friendly ballpark (along with maybe some juice from Manny) are what helped him the most.
  23. Lind is OPS'ing in the mid-800's and over 900 against RHP. I'm all for trading him but a Clark/Rogers platoon out producing him is highly unlikely.
  24. I'd take a Cards loss over the higher pick, no question. You could randomly pick 10 players from the entire draft and compare them to the top 10 from the same year and more often than not they probably the 10 random players won't turn out any worse or better than the top 10.
  25. The writers can't make up their minds about how they feel about steroids. Overall, they're appalled and want to condemn everyone who was the least bit connected to them. However certain guys get a pass. Jason Giambi and Pettite because they owned up to it. Ortiz because he's friendly to the media. No one cares about the guys from the biogenesis scandal except for Braun and ARod. Really the whole thing is stupid. Just look at the statsheet. Ignore the name attached to the stats.
