    He starts until the end of the regular season or he is traded. He's not really blocking anyone from a rotation spot and the best thing he can do is not get hurt and show some semblance of being a ML pitcher so he can be traded.

    I would guess Narron finishes out the season if Ron is let go mid-season. If he would have been moved up to AA or AAA by now I think Matt Erickson would have a pretty good shot at it. He seems to be an organization favorite. How about Dave Martinez? He's been quite the bridemaid the last few years. Does he even have a job right now, I thought he left TB after he was passed over.

    That's a good point that it's not just firing Ron but finding someone to replace him. It's not like there's a week or two left in the season and you can just ride it out with the bench coach, you need someone you'll be comfortable with managing for almost a whole season and not taking away a key coach from your minor league system. That probably means the replacement is on the Major League staff and it's probably Jerry Narron.

    You don't hit a homerun on any pitch you don't swing at. That seems to be the organization's hitting philosophy the last few years.

Placed in this same situation Ken Macha wrote a letter to the commissioner and Ron can't be bothered to stop reading his lineup card to leave the dugout.

    Really? You expect a Roenicke-"led" team to get into a brawl? Any bench clearing incident will just be Maldonado running around the field looking for someone to sucker punch. I'm assuming Gomez isn't with the team otherwise he would probably be out there too.

    Lawrie did indeed get drilled today and calmly walked to first base while the benches cleared and a few Royals looked to be goading him into doing something.

    I'd be dreading the Brewers having the #1 pick. It can only lead to an incredibly expensive disaster.

    I've booed Ron at games before but I remember being at a game towards to end of the Yost era when Ned was booed before the game when he was introduced and also as he stepped out of the dugout to make a pitching change.

    This entire post is me in a nutshell. Plus you could replace "Seinfeld" with "Calvin and Hobbes" and it'd still be the same. What about a person like me who loves Seinfeld but never liked Calvin and Hobbes?

    I don't see anything dirty about it. It was late but he went right at the bag, cleats down, and didn't hook or grab at Escobar's legs. It would be nice to see more of the Brewers do something like that instead of the usual ho-hum, passive, aw-shucks we suck attitude they have. CarGo is the only one I can see going hard into second like that. What angle did you see? His cleat was up and hit Escobar right in the leg. I'm not saying it was intentional, but his cleat was definitely up and not down at the bag. I just rewatched it and I guess his cleats were a little up but I wouldn't say anymore than most players when they slide into 2nd. Either way he went right into the bag and didn't roll up or try to hook Escobar. To me it looks like nothing more than one of those things that can happen at 2nd on a double play.

    I want to see him flop just so everyone can stop accusing the Cubs of committing the crime of the century by not having him on the opening day roster. To be fair though, the guy OPS'd over 1.000 at every level. Him flopping would be quite the shocker.

    I'm pretty sure they did that last year too. At least Wisconsin, Beloit, and Northwest League scores I remember.

    Because he shouldn't tell Carlos that he should never try to steal third with two outs. While a player needs to try that on a limited basis, if a really good opportunity is there, a baserunner can score multiple ways from third compared to second, like say a wild pitch, infield hit, or infield error. There is a reason defenses try holding a quick baserunner close to second base, even with two outs. They understand that a baserunner has less opportunities to score from second base compared to third. No manager in baseball would tell Gomez what you asked for. I'd like to see the run expectancy chart but I would guess there is very little difference between scoring from 2nd with 2 outs and scoring from 3rd with 2 outs. This isn't high school where you have a good chance of a wild pitch or defensive error to score from 3rd. And especially with Gomez hitting at the top of the order he needs to not take the bat out of the middle of the order's hands by getting thrown out. Having him at 2nd messes with the defensive alignment more too as they try to hold him on. So, no, Gomez should never try and steal 3rd with 2 outs.

I understand how he's getting an advantage by doing this but I can't see how he can have any control nor how the laws of physics can allow him to throw as hard as he does while doing it.

    I would guess about 1/3 of the current WI Brewers fanbase have only been fans since about 2010 so I could totally buy Yount not being very well known.

    I've really been loving The Last Man on Earth. Will Forte plays an amazing character that you so want to pull for so badly but he's such a scum bag it's tough to.
