  1. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/01/astros-two-other-teams-in-aggressive-pursuit-of-evan-gattis.html Looks like he'll mainly play LF but will get some time at C too. I don't know about what Houston gave up but Gattis adds some big time power to their lineup. Gattis has hit 21 and 22 homeruns the last two years in about 100 games each. With the move to Minute Maid and from behind the plate I think he's got a shot at 40.
  2. I'd offer him a minor league deal sight unseen. But then again so would probably 29 other teams.
  3. Yes, my classless comment was in reference to the swing of the phantom bat. I thought it was hilarious but the chorus of boos from the Cardinal faithful show they thought differently. Also, that was indeed Kyle Lohse. But I think what we're all wondering if how did Chris Carpenter explain this to his son?
  4. "Jericho's official random thoughts thread brought to you by brewerfan.net" I will take that but only if it is called "Jericho's Official 1,004 Random Thoughts Thread Brought to you by Brewerfan.net"
  5. Yuni E's stay in Oakland lasted less than a week. Look's like he will play 2B in Washington.
  6. I know this should probably go in the MLB Forum but I felt this was appropriate too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2j2alxH8VPQ I'm glad this happened in St. Louis so the fans could show their displeasure for such a classless act.
  7. I saw them a couple weeks ago in GB and they played a few non-Christmas songs. I really liked some of them but one song was incredibly long and boring and you could feel the crowd could not care less. There was a golf clap when it ended. Best part of the show was when they busted into about a minute of Kashmir randomly is the middle of a Christmas song and the crowd went crazy. I'd love for them to do an album of covers.
  8. Trans Siberian Orchestra is basically (and this is not a dig on them) a Christmas-themed 80's heavy metal hair band.
  9. In the video of Lara his swing was pretty bad. For a guy who's supposed to hit for power he gets zero extension in his swing. The couple of times he did - he popped it up, on the infield probably. I hope the Brewers have a good plan to fix that because it's pretty terrible. I like Gatewood's swing, on the other hand. Pretty level, makes contact out in front and drives through the ball. Pretty much the opposite of Lara.
  10. I posted somewhere that Mark Ellis is still out there and hits LHP pretty good to go along with solid defense. Platooning him with Scooter and giving Ramirez some days off is not a bad option right now.
  11. Right now I would take the Brewer's 1-6 over Oakland's. Brewers - Gallardo, Garza, Lohse, Peralta, Fiers, Nelson Athletics - Gray, Kazmir, Chavez, Pomeranz, Hahn, Bassitt Gray is better than anyone Milwaukee has right now and Oakland has AJ Grffin and Jarrod Parker coming back from TJ at some point this season but I feel a whole lot more comfortable with the depth and talent the Brewers have in the rotation for 2015 than the A's do.
  12. Exactly. And for people like me who are very small time compared to some others it's actually increased my sales. Before if someone would ask me about international shipping I would say it cost some really high amount so that A) they wouldn't want to pay that and spare me trying to figure out how to ship it to their country or B) they would pay me a lot more than it cost to ship and I'd make more for going through the hassle of figuring it out. Now, I make 1 or 2 international sales a month.
  13. Global Shipping is really for the ease of the seller. I don't want to have to deal with figuring out international shipping rates and customs forms so I let eBay deal with all of that. Plus it takes a lot of liability off of me as a seller because once eBay receives the package from me it is out of my hands and is their responsibility for whatever happens to it even if it is because of the foreign carrier. I'll agree the buyer gets a raw deal because they have to pay my shipping charge (if I charge one) to send it to Kentucky and then pay eBay's shipping charge to get it to their country. But if they're willing to pay it, so be it. I know a lot of sellers don't do the GSP because they feel they are losing a lot of international business because of the huge shipping costs. I do it because, like I said, I don't want to deal with figuring out shipping rates and customs forms to 100's of different countries. And this is only a somewhat profitable hobby for me, not a source of income, so losing a few international sales because of it doesn't bother me.
  14. Ya. I sold it to him for $6 and charged $6 shipping. Plus he is being charged $24 from eBay through their Global Shipping Program. So $36 for the bobblehead.
  15. They did trade Norris too, which is strange that both were traded because together they were one of the best hitting catchers in baseball last year. Do they even have a catcher now?
  16. Reading over MLB Trade Rumors today I saw a few scrap heap guys I think are worth a shot on a minor league deal. Franklin Gutierrez - Could be like Grady Sizemore last year. Perhaps being a 4th OF would keep him healthy for a full season and would allow Parra to be traded. Chad Billingsley - Hasn't pitched in almost 2 years but was pretty good when healthy. A minor league deal with an opt out date might get him or maybe he'd be willing to move to the bullpen. Mark Ellis - He's going on 38 but still grades out pretty well defensively. Last year was a disaster at the plate for St. Louis but has a career .760 OPS against LHP and could platoon with Scooter and give ARam some days off at 3B. Johan Santana - Torn Achilles ended comeback attempt last year but if he would accept a minor league deal I see no reason not to sign him. He's pitching in the Venezuelan Winter League. Of that group I think Ellis offers the most help.
  17. Yuni's still out there. Oh wait, this is the optimism thread. Yuni B still isn't a Brewer!...yet.
  18. I'm sure there were only 1 or 2 writers who were thinking this way but Piazza really didn't belong behind the plate. He wasn't a total butcher but he was probably one of the worst defensive catchers of his time. Put his bat at any other position and he's probably a borderline HOF'er. His lack of milestone counting stats probably would keep him out though.
  19. I just sold a Jim Henderson bobblehead to someone in France. Clearly a Frenchman too, not an American (or Canadian) abroad based on the name. Is there a big Brewer fan base in France? Continued from: viewtopic.php?p=927258#p927258 Original Lead: viewtopic.php?f=67&t=8540
  20. Marlins signed the Narv-dog already.
  21. Or very limited in their desire to make any more changes to the roster. Since they acquired Lind, the only guy I can remember there being any rumors involving the Brewers was Allen Craig.
  22. It's really tough to make much of a determination off of one swing but I will say from the other videos I've seen of him his swing doesn't look bad, but it doesn't look great either. In this one video he's behind on what looks like an inside pitch so I'm not surprised it's a weak grounder to the left side (the Segura Special if you will). My biggest concern would be that (in this video) he transfers his weight forward early so there' not much power in the swing.
  23. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/01/yankees-to-sign-stephen-drew.html 1yr/$5M Turning down that QO really worked out for him didn't it?
