  1. That is just strategy. Lefty's don't need to bunt, just go the other way or up the middle. Be a complete hitter. If teams aren't going to be able to take advantage of hitters weaknesses then they shouldn't be able to throw certain pitches or pitch to locations that hitters can't handle either. Shifting the defense against lefty's is, as Mr. Burn's would say, playing the percentages. If teams can't play percentages then there should be no pinch hitters, no changing pitchers to get a favorable matchup, no starting a bench RHB over a LHB against a tough lefty.
  2. I wouldn't go quite that far but I think there is something to it. I remember reading an article during the World Series that either the Giants or Royals (can't remember which) looks for hitters that don't have pull tendencies to neutralize the effects of defensive shifts.
  3. A number of years ago I had a website created for an organization I run. I had a guy create the templates and get the hosting and domain set up and then he turned everything over to me. Ever since I have done all the updating and maintenance. Long story short, everything is registered in this guy's name and company and I would like to change it because I have found out he is a registered child sex offender and I do not want to be associated with him at all. I can't change anything on Fatcow because it is all registered under his company and I don't have access to it. I can't contact the guy because his phone number is disconnected and I'm pretty sure he's in jail anyway. I want to discontinue all my service with Fatcow and start over somewhere else. If I call Fatcow do you think they could release everything to me?
  4. It's that time of year again when no one wants to sign him so Doug does.
  5. Didn't watch it but read the results and wondered if they sent Rock out at the end just so the Philly fans wouldn't riot.
  6. Parra was there.
  7. Let's get rid of the foul lines too while we're at it. I mean there are so many balls that land foul that would have been hits if not for those silly foul lines.
  8. Most percent.
  9. This would be a pretty terrible idea. Would he also eliminate preventive bunt defense since the 1st and 3rd basemen play out of position? I saw a comment on MLB Trade Rumors about this that said if they want to increase offense they might as well eliminate breaking balls and have the hitter tell the pitcher where to throw it like the game was intended.
  10. We need a second LHP so that Roenicke doesn't use Will Smith, one of our best relievers, as a LOOGY (which he will probably do if there isn't another one) The career .826 OPS against RHB says he is probably best used a loogy or at least vary sparingly against RHB.
  11. How is that expected? His ERA in Philly is 2.45 and FIP is 2.82. Miller Park isn't even the bandbox that whatever the Phillies place is called.
  12. He's a turd. So are 90% of all other super star athletes. One thing I haven't seen brought it (and maybe I'm thinking of someone else) but didn't he have some not so nice words about Braun after Ryan was suspended?
  13. Just because a guy is in another match it doesn't mean he won't be in the Rumble. There is no way the WWE does the Rumble without Cena. I don't care how many other matches he is in on the card.
  14. I have nothing against Broxton's overall production, its his salary compared to his production which bothers me. We cannot afford to pay our set up guy $9M while paying our closer similar money. Sure $9M is a lot for a non-closer but it doesn't mean he can't be traded either. Toronto has been trying to get a closer all off season.
  15. Papelbon is in the same boat that KRod was in when we traded for him. His team just wants to get rid of him. All it will take is a probably never will be mid level prospect if the Phillies kick in some money or a definitely never will be prospect if the Phillies don't. Since he's gone to Philly and everyone freaked out about how he was going to be a disaster he's only put up a 2.45 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 9.6 K/9, 2 BB/9. I would be more than willing to "roll the dice" on that production. I'm also not sure why everyone's freaking out about Broxton. He's not an elite pitcher but he's still very, very good. Over the last 3 years he's got an ERA+ of 142 and a WHIP of 1.167.
  16. I'm not sure if this was sarcasm or not but I would think he's got a shot if there are injuries seeing as he's already on the 40 man and will be optioned at the beginning of the year anyway.
  17. I don't know how they could afford it. Shields is going to get an average of $20M a year. Adding $20M to the current payroll would make 2015 the largest in franchise history. And signing Shields and then trading someone like Lohse or Garza just wouldn't make sense.
  18. The words that come out of Melvin's mouth are pretty much worthless. There was zero talk about trading Gallardo or any starter and then all of a sudden he was gone.
  19. Interesting note that the contract does not contain a no trade clause.
  20. I don't think there's anyone who's got a chance at a starting gig in 2015 unless there are massive amounts of injuries. Jungman probably has the best being #6 on the SP depth chart but I think if there is an injury it would depend when it happens if he gets a shot. Kyle Wren might be a September call up or earlier if the team really bombs and Parra or even Carlos Gomez is traded. I'm sure there are a few bullpen arms that might get a few innings.
  21. I doubt it. I am sure he is making more money working full time at a yearlong network gig, rather than 7 months doing brewers AM radio. A whole heck of a lot less traveling too at MLB Network.
  22. I would think some players like it but the clubs I'm sure aren't too keen on paying players who aren't on their roster. I mean Scherzer is going to be one of the higher paid Nationals for years after he's retired. I'm surprised deferred money doesn't happen more often with super star players (like Scherzer) because that's how a small market team can afford to give out a $150M+ contract. Isn't a chunk of Brauns deal deferred as well?
  23. Still can't stand listening to any sport on the radio. As for those being discussed, Block is ok because he actually talks about the game that is going on in front of him unlike Uecker who seems to only be interested in telling stories. Pairing Hamilton with Block at least gave some life to the broadcast instead it sounding like a robot reading play by play.
  24. Whether or not Yovani is declining or holding steady or Nelson is just as good is irrelevant to me. He's not going to be a Brewer in 2016 so trading him is the right thing to do.
