  1. I think the only similarity is that they are a team with talent but not enough talent to compete and a bare minor league system.
  2. This has been mentioned a couple of times by different posters so I just wanted to point out 1 more time that Smith does not have a big arm. To build off of that, so what? Who else had a big arm? Jose Capellan, Manny Parra, Nick Neugebauer, Jeff Bennett. A big arm is all well and good but you need other things to go along with it.
  3. If you do, wear a Brewers jersey. It's either that or I'm going to say I'm from "Mizzora" and act like Cam from Modern Family when he starts talking about growing up on a farm.
  4. Why does it seem like everyone is against Segura leading off? The guy makes contact, has the speed for it, and doesn't strike out a lot. Why does everyone seem to think a lead off hitter is a thing? You just put someone with a high OBP at the top of the order.
  5. Gindl has played center, he can play right. Halton has played left, he can play right too.
  6. I've decided I'm going to lower myself to doing a Busch Stadium tour. Also, I'm planning on spending Saturday in St. Charles. It looks like a neat place and their Christmas festival sounds interesting.
  7. Everyone was expecting way too much for a guy who was a borderline starter that is just leaving his prime.
  8. He didn't because he wasn't offered one because he couldn't be offered one because he was traded mid-season.
  9. One move isn't going to do it. They would get 1 top prospect at most and maybe 2 or 3 fringy-prospect guys. That would take the farm system from poor to about mid pack. One trade is rarely franchise altering and especially not with a player like Gomez. Defense is definitely being more highly regarded in terms of player value but not to the level we would want it to be for Gomez and especially not for a guy who's had one good offensive season in his career.
  10. I've packed plenty of Brewer gear.
  11. So how's that whole staying under the luxury tax thing working out? Yes, the Yankees have a virtually unlimited budget but at some point the perfect storm of bad contracts will happen and they will be stuck. When Teixeira, Sabathia, ARod, McCann, and Ellsbury all reach the point in which they are old and crappy (or crappier) they are going to have a mess on their hands.
  12. Which has won them more championships that most other clubs in their short existence. You can't argue with results.
  13. My fiance has a continuing ed course in St. Louis this weekend and I'm going with her. I have a couple things planned but does anyone know of any interesting spots?
  14. Ball park I would assume is a big reason but didn't he also break his wrist or hand a couple seasons ago too?
  15. Hudson has a career 111 ERA+ and will be 27 in March. I would offer him a low base, high incentive 3 year deal. Tommy John isn't a big deal anymore and he would bring youngish pitching to a club that sorely needs it. He should be getting back to full strength right at a time when the team will hopefully be on the verge on contention or at least should bring back something nice in a trade.
  16. Morrison would be a salary dump for the Marlins. He's only an average to good player and they've had problems with him in the past (which I feel were totally overblown by management). I doubt they would ask for anything more than some never-will-be AA pitcher.
  17. From what I've read Arencibia is somewhat of a butcher behind the plate but the guy's a guaranteed 20 HR playing only 130 games a year. Boy his OBP sucks but 20+ HR potential on the bench isn't bad to have.
  18. I said it about the Tigers but maybe couple this with a Wieters or Markakis or Jones trade and the Orioles are making a run at Cano.
  19. Daniel Hudson was non-tendered by the Dbacks. Obviously just coming off TJ surgery but what kind of contract would he get? More importantly, what do the Brewers need to do to sign him?
  20. I can't see any team giving him a major league deal so he might as well come back to Milwaukee on a minor league deal. Our doctors know him pretty well anyway.
  21. Unless he's willing to play for super cheap, no way.
  22. When I saw the thread title the only player that made sense for the O's to give up was Johnson but it would be stupid for the Brewers to do that. Then I read that it actually was for Johnson and I was dumb founded and even more surprised it was a three team deal with the Orioles and Athletics. Then I read the last line.
  23. And we have no clue what that is. Maldonado had 256 PA in 2012 and looked like he might have a good bat. In 2013 he put up 202 of the worst PA's Milwaukee has seen in years. Scooter could very well do the same.
  24. A loogy was not what was expected from Parra.
