  1. Favre situation was little bit different as they already had a capable QB to replace him. To me, it was obvious that Packer management was trying to get rid of Brett for a while and his antics just gave them a reason to trade him without fans burning Lambeau to the ground. When the Magic trade Howard they will have nothing.
  2. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/03/royals-extend-alcides-escobar.html 4 years, club options for 2016 and 2017. No financial details yet. Without the money it's tough to have much of an opinion on this but his bat has done nothing to get him an extension so far.
  3. True. However, Santana was 21 as a rookie and 25 as a full time starter. Rogers is 26 now and if he takes the Santana path will be 30 (and I believe a free agent) by the time he's a full time starter. Rogers has almost become JM Gold or Mike Jones, except Mark actually made it to the majors.
  4. There are not many guys that get 10 years worth of chances with one organization. If he fails as a reliever why would there be any reason to do anything with him anymore? Santana spent 4 seasons moving between bullpen and the rotation. It wasn't a quick transition.
  5. Only NBA'ers can pull this off for some reason. And to a much lesser extent NFL players with holding out.
  6. I can't believe Rogers has been with the organization for 8 years already. Yes, it's time to pass on him as a starter and move him to the bullpen.
  7. Undertaker/HHH is not about a feud. It's about the streak. His last three Wrestlemania matches have been as a face against a face and done fine. Cena/Rock is different as once against it's not really about a feud per say, but about the good (Attitude) era vs the bland (PG) era. I don't think neither of them being a true heel is a problem because both of them have been booed and cheered. The fans care about both of them and that's really all that matter.
  8. The Punk angle is probably based off of when he was in ROH.
  9. Didn't the Braves let Alex Gonzalez walk so that Pastornicky could play?
  10. I thought it was pretty late in Spring Training last year that they announced it. Maybe I'm wrong. I hope they have it this year too. I'll probably try and make it.
  11. If the Braves are giving up on him why would the Brewers want him?
  12. I think Zack does not want to play in a big market. I remember watching him in the bullpen during spring training last year. He practically hid in the tunnel the whole game. The one time he came out he stood at the fence and talked with Mike Rivera for a while and then retreated back into the tunnel. I don't think he likes attention or pressure. Plus, he already signed an "extension" with Kansas City, I don't know what would prevent him from resigning with Milwaukee.
  13. I don't think it shifts towards him leaving, just towards him not signing during the season. Who knows, maybe Zack needs something to do on the days he's not pitching and contract negotiation could be that thing.
  14. All of this goes to further reenforce my thought that Zack is not a "normal" athlete. Perhaps the Ricky Williams of baseball, minus the drug suspensions hopefully.
  15. Not to nit-pick but Capellan really doesn't belong on that list since he was traded for as a big leaguer and spent only about a year plus in the minors here. Maybe Luis Martinez. Doesn't quite fit the criteria but LaPorta is in the running for that list.
  16. He did have back issues for the first half of last year so that might explain why his second half was better. If he's healed now he could be close what he once was.
  17. Greinke is in no way a "normal" athlete personality wise. I wouldn't be surprised if he signs a long-term, below market value extension.
  18. Other than the monstrosity in the OF, i really like the feel of the park. It's not "brick-retro" like the parks from the late 90's/early 2000's. It's not "neo-retro" like the last bunch of parks build. It may seem small and insignificant but I love that the outfield wall is curved throughout the outfield. I don't think there is any park that has anything more that just a little bit of curvature in their wall.
  19. If Yuni starts taking playing time away from Escobar I think the baseball space time-continuum might collapse due to a black hole of irony.
  20. As much as Rock/Cena lost me a week ago it brought me back last night. It was classic Rock through the show with his vignettes and when he finally confronted Cena he was The Rock, not Dwayne Johnson. I was really surprised how early the show ended. The Rock/Cena segments have been getting a 10-15 minute overrun and last night they ended at 10:02 and we got 3 minutes of Cena walking around the ring.
  21. Didn't know yesterday was split squad. It makes a little more sense now that Gonzalez was hitting cleanup last night. I thought Ron had lost his mind.
  22. Nady has been an absolute disaster since his Tommy John surgery. Anything he did before is almost irrelevant. He's done as a useful baseball player.
  23. I'm pretty sure Chief Wahoo was replaced a few years ago with a script "I".
  24. Who was the last Brewers closer to last five years? Plesac maybe? Hoffman, Turnbow, Kolb, DeJean, Leskanic all had success for about the same length of time as Axford has only to implode horribly. If you look around the league I don't think you would find a whole lot of closers that lasted 5 years.
  25. Good use of the money they saved from not signing Albert. (blue)
