  1. No player is going to cost Hiura or Burnes+ for 3 months of work. Those days are long gone.
  2. I question the sanity of anyone that gets fired up when they hear Renegade. There are literally thousands of other better crappy 70's, 80's, hair metal, whatever songs you could choose from.
  3. I hope we’re competitive and that isn’t even a thought. I don't know why that would even be relevant. Giving Woodruff an extension to his mid-30's would not be smart unless we are talking super team friendly. Simply letting him walk for nothing or perhaps some sort of comp pick as a free agent would be just as dumb. It's probably going to tick a bunch of fans off but I'm thinking Stearns is going to be a GM who looks to trade guys as their team control is winding up instead of hanging on and getting nothing.
  4. We're already talking about trading him with multiple years of control left? He got a late start. Maybe he has success into his mid 30's. I wouldn't mind adding a couple years with team options similar to those mentioned above. I don't get the desire to look to trading guys so far out though. I've seen it mentioned with Yelich. Lets wait and see where we are before we start thinking about trading guys. I'm talking about trading him in like 4 years. It's what every team, small market or not, should be doing. Develop your players and trade them before free agency for more players to develop. Especially in a guy like Woodruff's case who's going to be on the older side when his team control is up. The list of pitchers who have remained successful into the early to mid 30's is a lot small than the list of hitters who have.
  5. I don't think I would at all. His age at the time of his free agency is not when you want to be paying a pitcher a lot of money. Hopefully he pitches great for a few years and he's traded with a couple years of control left.
  6. You're right. I never, ever understood the hate he got here. He's a fun, exciting player who is playing a game for a living. God forbid yu show excitement and flare while you're doing it. Fun? I guess. Exciting? Sometimes. Stupid, boneheaded, low baseball IQ? Yes, yes, and yes. That's why he got the hate he got.
  7. Any rainout there should result in a win to the visiting team. They had a dome and a huge home field advantage, but piddled that away with a new meh stadium in the elements when their NFL team has a retractable dome. The Brewers are the only mid-west team with a dome and outside of Chicago I think they've all been built since Miller Park. Every one of these teams screwed up.
  8. What exactly did Moose do/say to get booted? According to Moose's postgame he asked the ump about his call on a check swing and the ump said he 100% swung. Moose said that's a lot of percent the ump got pissy and tossed him.
  9. You have the Packers. That's a lot more than the majority of sports fans have.
  10. His career OPS against LHB is .496, this year it's .477. His career OPS against RHB is .804, this year it's .948. He is who is and why he's allowed to face as many RHB this year as he has is mind boggling. The numbers couldn't be clearer.
  11. The pitching is rounding into shape, same as it did last year, and the offense is still frustrating as heck, same as last year. Give me Encarnacion even if it means losing Aguilar. Which, quite frankly, I don't think would be as big of a loss as many are making it out to be. The biggest problem with Encarnacion is that it will take prospects PLUS between $16-17M dollars for a rental. I just can't see Stearns putting out that kind of cash plus losing prospects for a 1/2 year of Encarnacion. No way will it cost both money AND prospects. It will be one or the other. Brewers take on the contract and give up basically nothing or they give up some prospect of minimal value and the Mariners send cash. I doubt it would cost anyone of value either way. Teams just don't give up prospects for rentals anymore.
  12. I guess I never thought about it before but wouldn't this be because of the existence of the Toronto Blue Jays? Maybe. I just did a quick google and could find no answer.
  13. If Perez gets seriously hurt, Dubon. Otherwise it will almost certainly be a pitcher. Couldn't tell you who.
  14. Correct, after the six years he is free to sign with anyone. I saw something about the Japanese team needing to post him...but I don't see why they wouldn't if that is the case. I would guess it's because he would still be under control of his Japanese team which has him for 10 years, even though his contract is up.

  16. Speaking of former Brewers in Baltimore, Villar's OPS is below .700 and he's proving to be the same crappy player he was in Milwaukee outside on one season.
  17. Love the show. Just got to Patrick's proposal. Their relationship just doesn't click for me but I suppose I kind of feel the same way about Alexis and Ted too. They seem like way too different of people to be together and I feel David's character was much more interesting with him single.
  18. The guys going to Japan are almost certainly going to be guys who would get big signing bonuses and not be affected that much by low minor league salaries. I would bet the next CBA will contain some sort of new rule that will make more guys doing this nearly impossible. I doubt this is going to be a major focal point. And I don't know how they could really do this. If they did, I think they'd be solving a non-existent problem. I also just can't really think of a realistic way they could try to do this. They already have a rule that you have to be in a professional league recognized by MLB for 6 years before you can become a FA. Isn't that the solution right there? That's enough to deter most people from doing this. That's why the one guy doing this is a major story. It would have been one thing if Strausburg and Harper went over to Japan. This is a guy who's projected to go in the 2nd round this year and who very few people would care about if he wasn't doing this. Isn't already basically forbidden for MLB teams to sign amateur players from Japan and somehow Canadians are eligible for the MLB draft while kids from every other country in the world are considered international free agents. MLB will come up with something. They've shown they're never short on stupid ideas.

  20. Brewers are 5-3 in weekday afternoon games this season. I walked away to do something, came back to down 5-0. I'm probably done for today.
  21. It's a weekday afternoon game. Doesn't matter who's in the lineup they'll play like crap. I only say this because weekday afternoon games are the only games I get to watch uninterrupted and I'm usually so disgusted I turn it off in the early innings. Hopefully I'm proven wrong today.
  22. Not much. A utility guy with average at best bat isn't worth much in a trade.
  23. actual facts? ok then... Yep, like the fact that the Brewers are solidly average in runners thrown out and outs on the bases, which is how I'd think you'd measure a 3B coach's performance. That means nothing as it doesn't factor in when guys should have been sent but weren't. Or consider when someone should have been toast but the defense screwed up. It's only a very small part of the story. As I've posted, there is no stat that proves anything about 3B coach ability.
  24. Quite frankly, there are no stats that can prove anything about a 3B coaches' ability. There are way too many factors to consider. Perhaps with Statcast we can somehow come up with a "scored probability" based on a runner's speed, jump and read of the ball on the play, and the fielder's arm and accuracy. Not to mention number of outs, other runners on the bases, and context of batting order.
