  1. Braun looks similar to me. Weeks looks like a linebacker now, while Yo looks 20 lbs lighter
  2. I don't like the Reds middle of the lineup in the 9th...they always seem clutch. Let's get two more runs here to make things safer
  3. what a collection of texas leaguers by the Reds today. funny, it reminds me that one years I polled Fall Leaguers and they had to admit that the Texas League has no more texas leaguers than other leagues.
  4. the Brewers have long seemed to promote VERY slowly, not aggressively at all. The counter-examples are Hardy, Fielder, and K. Davis, and that's all I can think of.
  5. I'd bat the pitcher in Kotsay's spot and put Morgan in the pitcher's spot. get the best defense out there
  6. I don't mind the graphics for the FSN broadcast, but I really don't like the new mlb.com gamecast. I don't watch them for the visuals, but rather for the information (box score, pitchers' line, etc)
  7. I have my spring break now, so I love that I am able to watch the game live for the first time in years. I used to hate having to DVR the game only to have 30 text messages from friends...and my dad would always call to say something.
  8. Prince is the only 1st basemen in the league that probably doesn't get that grounder.
  9. I'm not worried about the offense as much as in previous years. I'm anticipating a career year from Braun, and now that we know what to expect from Braun, Fielder, McGehee, Weeks, and Hart, we should have a very solid lineup. Throw in our pitching staff, and we should be fine. Heck, look at the Giants' offense last year and they did fine thanks to the pitching
  10. Ender, are you sure? We went to the NL when the two expansion teams were added. MLB knew for several years that teams would be added, but it wasn't til after the '97 season that we found out the Brewers were going national.
  11. Toby, awesome job...one of my favorite features you do
  12. and Logan Shafer. I guess I expected Shafer in either AA or AAA and Richardson in A+ (or repeating A, but expecting to jump to AA)
  13. The AL and NL each had 14 teams. That meant two divisions of 5 and one of 4. Since Colangelo refused to have the Dbacks added to the AL, the Tigers went from the AL East to the Central, opening the way for the Rays in the AL East. With the Dbacks joining the West, that brought about the potential for 15 teams in each league, necessitating an interleague game each day. So the Brewers left the AL Central and went to the NL Central, giving us our current system. The next logical step would be to add two more divisions and two more teams creating an 8-division 2 league system with 4 teams per division. edit: originally said NL for Dbacks, not AL
  14. Big Evan showed some promise last summer in Helena and I was hoping they'd figured things out...oh well
  15. looking at the numbers, Ben had fairly low avg pitchcounts most of his career, only averaging over 100 in 3 seasons (2 under Yost, one under Lopes at a much more important year to manage pitchcounts)
  16. so I'm 30 and been driving my dad's old car. I've decided to buy a new car. I bank at two banks. Is it in my best interests to request pre-approval from both banks? I know they'll open my credit file twice, but I was figuring it wouldn't hurt. Any thoughts as to whether it is a good idea to have both banks give me a rate quote?
  17. The Truth, Yost never seemed to overwork pitchers. He was very strict in his pitch counts. Actually, I take that back...Maddux was generally regarded as being in charge of pitchers, so I guess Maddux abused his pitchers. Sheets threw very low pitches/game totals, and worked deep into games because of his pitch efficiency. Let's face it...Sheets was never fully the same after the fluke of tearing his lat.
  18. my iphone opens word and excel documents, so I imagine the ipad does as well
  19. why is AAA rushing Lawrie? He played a full year at AA last year and had a pretty solid season. Isn't that the next logical step?
  20. I still think Drew will develop 25-30 hr talent. His effortless swing generates tons of power. One day it will all click, and it sure would help if he were on good teams.
  21. Baltimore also makes a ton of sense because Fielder likely will be in serious decline before his contract ends...hmmm, sounds like Javy Lopez, Albert Belle, etc.
  22. thebruce, I've had students for about a year now that use fold out keyboards (only one or two students), but a bunch simply used the touch screen. I don't mean to sound like there's tons of students, but I would speculate there are 5-8 that I've taught in the last year with them. With a few of the students, I've been amazed at how their notebooks went from awful to looking beautifully organized thanks to it. I don't know if they just use the notes program or what...but it's been really interested to see.
  23. Wow, I was just telling someone his story yesterday. Good luck to Tom. I wonder if in the long term he'll shift back to the rotation. He's a great example of why some of these HS kids just need to grow up
  24. I know the Dbacks have stated they will not trade Drew, but I have to wonder if there's some way we could do this. He would provide a powerful left-handed hitting high OBP slick fielding SS to add balance to the offense and defense. Plus, he's one of my favorite Fall Leaguers to have worked with. Perhaps: Drew for Peralta, one of the CF's (Shafer, Komatsu, Gindl), Green (Dbacks need 3b help). I know that package doesn't look great now, but it's hard to come up with something that doesn't touch Scarpetta or Rogers.
