  1. funketown, he's been throwing for a few months. There's no reason to think his velocity won't come back! The bigger issue is that they never figured out what was wrong with the arm, just that Andrews/Peterson recommended he lower his arm slot
  2. oh wow...the family will be in my thoughts and prayers!
  3. I like Gamel for AAA to play a lot, but I like Branyan as a 3b/1b/ph/OF/dh
  4. JB, why mess with the pitching? Why not sign a shortstop AND have Wolf?
  5. dear God. I think we can schedule their ring sizings for 2011 and 2012 already!
  6. Buehrle has been great for nearly a decade...or has it been a decade? I can't imagine we can land him unless they're motivated to move him
  7. Viva, I am constantly using the internet on the Iphone, and I have yet to go over my date allotment. So I'd go with the lesser amount. If it's a problem, you can always change the following month
  8. If Wood learns to hit, he'll be the next Jose Guillen or Jose Bautista--figuring it out years after he should be a star
  9. tedaldtada29, do you mean "uninformed" or "uniformed"? Quite opposite meaning in this context
  10. I think people are higher on him than ever, but that doesn't say much. Rogers is one of my favorite prospects to follow, and I think his future looks bright. He has the upside of a 1/2, but his initial year in MLB will be as a 5. Saying he could be a 4/5 now isn't saying he stinks, but rather that he could be among our top 5 starters, even with minimal AAA experience
  11. Now if they only bring back Russell the Muscle for 1st base, they'll have the cheapest 60+hr production at 1b/dh in the league
  12. Can't they have amended the Villy trade? Villy and one prospect for Marcum? At this point I'd consider the weak market and try to push for Cappy to be the #4 and Bush to be the swingman (like the Wakefield role).
  13. I didn't think McClung was anything more than AAA fodder, but he's nice AAA fodder just in case. I'd keep him if possible
  14. How about we go 2 years $18 million to Pavano, 1 year $4 million to Webb (with incentives and a 3 year $36 million option...I like the idea of one good year with a 3 year option for comeback guys) ? Even if Webb has reduced velocity, he's always been a great groundball guy. he just needs some healthy stretches for his shoulder. Last I heard he was sent to Peterson's lab for diagnostics and they wanted him to work on changing his arm slot
  15. I'd sign Cust with the promise that if Fielder is moved, he'll be our 1st baseman. He'd also be a 4th OF and left-handed power/obp pinch hitter
  16. That all seems correct. That's why some guys loved the Fall League as it was I think $5k or 8k for the season. The big boost for guys is when they get added to the 40-man roster. My favorite day working in the AFL was when Miguel Montero was added to the 40-man roster--easily the best guy and most enthusiastic I've been around, although I really liked Ryan Howard and Stephen Drew too. 40-man roster guys make something like $20k their first year, up to around 60 or 80k the third year. Minor league free agents can make up to the 6-figures. With meal money on the road, don't forget the clubhouse dues. Players owe roughly $6-12 per day all season (home and away) to the clubhouse manager to help provide bat boys, food, and services (laundry, shoeshine, etc)
  17. just curious, but what are Duke's numbers if we subtract facing the Brewers the last year or two? With our domination of Pitt, I'm curious
  18. I'd hate to lose Green. And it's not just that...they could have Brantley, Green, AND Salome
  19. I'd hate to lose Green. And it's not just that...they could have Brantley, Green, AND Salome
  20. during the OJ trial, they made a big deal in Wisconsin about Kato being from Wisconsin. I've seen Mr. Goldman here in Scottsdale a few times.
  21. Could he be named a Roving Pitching Instructor in charge of trying to improve the mechanics of our minor leaguers?
  22. The Brewers could offer Lee less than they offered Sabathia, and he might take it. It depends on how badly they want to add pitching
  23. Remember, Dillard didn't pitch until he was 20 or 21, so he's still learning to harness his sinker and velocity
  24. Actually, Roenicke (born 8/19/1956) is exactly one year younger than Yost (8/19/1955).yes Hawing, but the Yost we knew as manager was younger. Both were the darkhorse candidates.
  25. He sounds a lot like Yost, only older. I'm curious as to how he'll do. I think he could be quite successful, while constantly being ridiculed by Brewerfan.net posters that hate playing for 1 run in close games.
