  1. bklynbrewcrew, as of now our payroll is at roughly $60 million...that's VERY real money. I was viewing Igawa as being quite possibly more productive than Hall, especially given that he's a bit cheaper.
  2. After looking Kei Igawa's stats in the minors, I'd definitely love to have him. http://minors.baseball-re...com/players.cgi?pid=34687 Igawa $4 million per year (3 years) Cabrera for Hall $6.8 million, $8.4 million +buyout Cameron $10 million I'd be willing to throw in a little money to equalize Hall and Igawa's 2009 salaries. The Brewers would still be $9.5 million ahead for 2009 and would likely be $4.4 million ahead for 2010. Igawa's age and numbers give me reason to think he can be a solid pitcher with an ERA of around 4. His K:BB and WHIP are very good.
  3. Actually, Bradley has never been known as a clubhouse distraction, as far as I know. Much like Elijah Dukes, they're supposedly great teammates. He just flips out occasionally on outsiders
  4. well, Vasgersian wasn't fined or suspended when in his XFL debut he shouted SLOPPY SECONDS!!!! Still, slightly different context. What this guy said was quite inappropriate
  5. I think I'd been down on Jenkins for probably 5 years, so I can't say I'd want him back. He's a defensive liability, doesn't hit for average, doesn't hit for power. Really, all he has going for him at this point in his career is a strong arm in the outfield.
  6. Actually, I'm pretty sure that if you look it up, they usually wind up with either the normal number of picks, or more than that. For instance, each time they sign someone, they also lose someone that was offered arbitration.
  7. I could see a pitcher getting taken from the Brewers. Wahpepah has always done well in A+, yet only had a brief cup of coffee in AA. I could see David Johnson or Robert Hinton taken, as both have had nice runs of dominance at times
  8. why not add Hoffman, as he's dominant, goes after hitters, and is affordable
  9. I can't see why Ben would want to pitch in the NL. We know he doesn't like hitting.
  10. Interesting to read that Jeff Passan article which theorizes what the Brewers are thinking, while Haudricourt's article basically rehashes what his blog said in a better form. I like the comment that "if he wanted the highest offer, he'd already be signed."
  11. 2 things: 1) all college campuses need a George Webbs. 2) drunk food. Combine the gyro and the burrito and create the ultimate drunk food--the gyrito. Except there will be nothing "ito" about the gyrito...lamb, onions, tomato, cucumber sauce, in a giant pita that encapsulates the tastiness just as a tortillo fully surrounds the burrito contents. I've never made the gyrito, but it sounds brilliant, especially when drunk
  12. Peavy would make sense. He could probably be acquired for Hart, Villanueva, and a third big leaguer
  13. Also, lets not forget we have some huge contracts coming off the books in a year or two. Assuming we dont trade Cameron, thats $10 million. Hall and his $5 million, Kendall I believe is maknig close to $5 million, Suppan of course and his ridiculous contract. All in 2 years they will be gone Paul, you're a bit off. Off the books after 2009: Cameron $10 million Kendall $4.6 Julio $0.95 ------------ ~$15.6 million After 2010: Hall $9.25 Riske $4.5 Suppan $12.5 ----------- ~$26.25 million. But if the core remains intact, nearly all of that money will be given to the likes of Hardy, Hart, Fielder, Gallardo, Braun, Weeks, etc
  14. mothership, that's correct. He does his own thing on days he pitches. But players accept it. It's not like how Bonds would openly shout at teammates for little things like changing the tv station.
  15. logan, I've been told that CC's kids are in school in Brookfield, WI. At least that's the rumor making its way through my mom's bridge club
  16. Postseason2006, what do you mean? We'd be foolish to trade those two for him and his salary.
  17. interesting update from mlbtraderumors.com: "SI.com's Jon Heyman jumps in on the Brewers angle. He says Sabathia is telling friends he expects the Brewers to upgrade their offer soon, perhaps when they get together at the Winter Meetings. Heyman's heard deferred money in the Brewers' current offer makes it closer to $90MM over five years." Sounds like he may be wanting the Crew to make a bit more of of a push
  18. Just wondering, but isn't Lamb a free agent? Is he planning on returning? He signed a 2 year deal with the Twins but was released. Did we sign him or claim him? I was under the belief we signed him, meaning it was only for the month of Sept.
  19. My understanding is that it would be 6/$110 in terms of today's dollars. That is, it sounds like there is significant money in deferred payments. It may be a 6 year $130 million offer that has the equivalence in today's dollars of $110 million.
  20. X ellence, Randy Johnson has never had a problem with teammates. His former teammate (schilling) was a darling with the media but despised by many teammates. I'd take the Unit in a heartbeat. Randy, Yo, Parra, Bush, and Suppan is acceptable. I'd love CC back, with us eating Suppan's contract and dealing him.
  21. According to ESPN and the AP wire. He was such a treat to watch for all those years, too
  22. perhaps Attanasio can offer that his firm will manage CC's fortune at a low fee
  23. Bernman, I wish all questions were this easy to answer. When a reliever enters a game with a lead, then blows the lead, that's a blown save. Most relievers have more blown saves than blown saves
  24. Isn't Tbow out for the first half of '09 after major surgery?
  25. I loved Buck and Patrick in the morning. Kennedy and Dibble were great in afternoons. My hope is that after the long baseball season, they are just giving the first months of the offseason to different folks already with the station, just to give the season-long personalities a break.
