  1. Morbidly?! Good grief, man. I mean, I know BMI isn't the be-all end-all of body shapes, but at 5'11", which Colon was listed at, 250 pounds is the upper limit for "obese" and Colon was listed at 285. He probably weighed closer to three hundo his last few years. Calling him morbidly obese isn't really out of line. Hmm, so he gave Prince a run. I remember when Prince was dubbed the heaviest MLB player ever that was under 6'.
  2. Pitchleague, I've used mlb.tv for 5 or 6 years. I love it, and never have an issue with buffering. I don't have gigablast or anything like that. I love the versatility of having it streaming. When I'm out of state in my summers, I get Brewers games everywhere (except Wisco). My only issue was last year the Brewers games in San Diego were blacked out for some reason in Scottsdale. No clue why, I spent like an hour on hold. I was told it shouldn't have been. But never got an answer or apology.
  3. I lost the heart-breaking Butler game. They missed covering by .5 despite leading all game. And on the last possession, they gave up 2 offensive boards leaving to a 3rd chance 3pointer. If only it was FT's or a 2, I would have covered.
  4. Tom Glavine, Kevin Millwood, Adam Wainwright, Jurggens had a few good years...that's just a few. Any in recent years?
  5. Remember for our DLine, they’re not taught or paid to dominate. They’re taught to occupy blockers and create opportunities for our linebackers. If we want to push towards a 4-3 again, then the DLine can be asked to try to dominate. Then again, we haven’t really used 4-3 or 3-4 in years, as our base defense has been nickel
  6. Ya beat me to it... I don't consider Macha anything other than the guy who had to manage a team with nothing, I mean nothing on the pitching staff. I don't give him credit, or fault, he was in a no win situation from the get go. The 2009 pitching staff had a weak rotation, but was anchored by a prime Yo and a solid bullpen. The 2010 staff had an adequate rotation and solid pen. These teams were painful to watch. But to ignore the manager and blame the pitching staff is simply not fair.
  7. That’s how I feel with Macha. He had a solid team on paper, but he ran his team into the ground with listless, emotionless performances day in and day out. The only time I’ve ever emotionally given up on a season was under Macha.
  8. Really glad for Ron. I liked him a lot. I’ve generally liked most of our managers though, with the exception of Davey Lopes and Ken Macha
  9. There's no reason for him to. Why would he limit himself to one team, when 20+ could be bidding in 9 months?
  10. Rasmussen and Andrews... interesting indeed. Both guys who could really end up in Milwaukee this year in the bullpen. Feliciano and Henry... also interesting. Erceg... maybe he does a Trent Grisham, but I have Hummel and Wilson ahead of him as home-grown players who help the MLB roster. Every year the brewers invite a bunch of minor league catchers to camp. This is nothing new
  11. He’s young, showed halfway decent plate discipline in the minors at young ages, and he’s had stretches of success before. Given that he has outperformed Carlos Gomez at this point in his career, it’s not worth giving up on a tools kid at a difficult position.
  12. The no divisional trade thing is a myth made up by fans. Teams seek good returns in trades, regardless of the trade partner
  13. Nothing new. This was the injury du jour about 15-20 years ago. All the cool kids were breaking it. It’s thought to be caused by traditional knobs, as opposed to the ax-handle bats. injures heal relatively quickly, but frequently takes over a year to regain power
  14. Given that the Brewers released him and he fired his agent, I'm wondering if there's more to the story. They could easily have put him on the 60-day dl to finish the year last year.
  15. Thanks homer. Glad some people read things and think things through in a logical manner.
  16. Just be careful with all the Journal Sentinal investigative reporting regarding carcinogens and toxins from roasting beans.
  17. I'd vote him in without thinking twice. Walker was one of the most dominant hitters for a period of over half a decade.
  18. According to reports, the steroid found on the mass test was a cataboic steroid, not an anabolic. Ortiz was prescribed the steroids for muscle inflamation in his back. From that time on he was tested hundreds of times and never missed a test or failed a test. Combine that with not being all that good, then all of a sudden being a superstar once he partners up with Manny and the storyline and circumstantial looks bad too. Umm, I think we know where you stand. I hope you're never on my jury when I'm wrongfully accused of something. You're a 100% guilty, conspiracy theorist kind of guy. Ortiz was a solid player with the Twins in his young years. You make it seem like he was trash. Remember, many Latin players take a little longer to refine and turn their talent into results. Edwin Encarnacion was brutal. Jose Bautista was brutal. Jose Guillen was brutal. Carlos Gomez was brutal. Ortiz was pretty solid in his early years, unlike those guys.
  19. According to reports, the steroid found on the mass test was a cataboic steroid, not an anabolic. Ortiz was prescribed the steroids for muscle inflamation in his back. From that time on he was tested hundreds of times and never missed a test or failed a test. Don't forget the time an entire team (I think the ChiSox) tested positive. It was before the league was actually testing for enforcement, but they were doing random tests to determine if testing was needed. An entire team voted to pass on the tests because they wanted a strong testing policy. But by passing on the tests, they were seen as positive.
  20. Seeing that there was a podcast mention in the minor league forum, it got me thinking. I've never listened to a podcast. The only people I ever knew that talked about them were people in cities where they commuted on trains or subways. Is it just me, or when you hear someone say podcast, you think "wow, that's so 2008"
  21. I never thought of her as very attractive (Pressly). She seems to play the trashy gal with a southern accent a lot. Better to be typecast as something than nothing.
  22. while that's true, the top of the draft appeared to have 2-3 hall of famers for the better part of a decade. But by 2017, Braun was really the only one still putting up halfway decent years. Zimmerman did have one strong outlier year.
  23. I saw Gordon re-signed with the Royals and it got me thinking....For all that Tulo, Zimmerman, Gordon, and Braun did in their early years, this class of elite hitters has not aged particularly well.
  24. Rodgers hasn’t been very good since 2015, and his first half performance killed any chance we had tonight. MVP? I don’t think he’s a top 10 QB I mean...are you blaming him for the botched snap? We don’t know if communication or timing was an issue on that snap. He has been getting blitzed all year on 3rd down and didn’t see the guy on the strip sack. He threw to his 5th receiver in double coverage for a pick. He missed a wide open Graham on 3rd down on first drive. Bad half
  25. I always was a huge advocate for a 3-4. Given the lack of time playing our base defense these days, I’d like to see us move to more of a 4-3. Bigger interior linemen, bigger ends on 1st down. It might help occupying blockers better having 4 true linemen. We had a lot of sacks this year, but our line generally got pushed around I really hope Allison is gone. We need to get better on both lines, plus at WR.
