  1. I understand about Anderson but why Davies? His velocity was dramatically down this year. His off-speed offerings aren’t special. Pretty soon his pay will be higher than his performance. If a team wants to overpay for either, I’d do it. Gaining prospects while clearing payroll is my goal.
  2. We should think of everyone as tradeable. I’d really like Hader to spend some time in the pitching lab to figure out a better way of throwing his slider. Seeing Pomeranz’s awesome Fastball-curve combo, is like to see Josh throw his slider a little softer.
  3. There’s lots of interest for the As in the Bay Area. When I was in college there 20 years ago, they announced plans to build a ballpark adjacent to Six Flags in San Jose. I think They’ve announced similar plans several other times, but to no avail. The Giants’ territorial rights are too strong. I’d love the As in Vegas. Great town. The AAA team would likely move.
  4. Can’t players offered arbitration be released by a March deadline at only something like 1/6th salary?
  5. I’d offer everyone except Austin, Spangenberg, and Perez. I would hope to trade Anderson and Davies
  6. I’d guess the Yaz number is right. Moose is too low for an average, I’d say 3 yrs $39million minimum Lyles will get $6-8m per year based on first 6 weeks and last 9 weeks. Pomeranz will follow the trend for relievers and will get 3 years $18 million
  7. I'm not sure what that means. We just set a franchise record for payroll. I anticipate it creeping higher by a little next year. Potential casualties to save money include Shaw, Thames, Davies, Anderson, and Nelson.
  8. My answers: 1. All four of them. 2. Nelson is a reliever. Maybe. Part of me wants to work out a release, sign him to a minor-league deal/NRI. Too many questions about him. 3. MLB pen. 4. AAA rotation 5. rotation 6. 2 IP reliever 7. Thames, with Shaw/Braun/Grandal as backups 8. Moose 9. Shaw, almost none. Davies a bit. Anderson a bit less than Davies. 10. Perez. Can make the 26-man work, especially if they have him report with pitchers and catchers. 11. Maybe, but wouldn't it be better to have Grandal/Pina as the top two catchers? 12. That is something - the Brewers need guys who can get the runner in from third, or punch a single the other way. 13. A good question... that would change things a great deal. I forgot another....will JJ be back? Pen of Pomeranz, Suter, JJ, Hader, Knebel, and others looks potentially dominant. And rotation of Woodruff, Houser, Lyles as anchors could take pressure off pen. I don't see how everyone is kept. Anderson has an option at $8.5m, and Davies likely will get a raise to around $6m. Not terribly expensive.
  9. players: -re-sign any of Pomeranz, Lyles, Grandal, and Moose? -Is Nelson a starter or reliever? looked good in last month's outings -Peralta to AAA rotation, MLB rotation, or MLB pen? he's still awfully young, but loved the velocity jump -Burnes to AAA rotation, MLB rotation, or MLB pen? -Houser to rotation or 1-2 IP 6th-7th inning guy? -Suter as 2 IP reliever or starter? -1b. Will it be Thames at $7.5m, Shaw at $4m, Braun, or someone else? -3b. Will it be Shaw or Moose? -What kind of value does Shaw, Davies, and Anderson have on the trade market? -Perez or someone more valuable offensively? -is Nottingham ready to be a backup? philosophies: - how to improve situational hitting and have more sustained rallies - can we add the DH? -
  10. MLB umps need to enforce batters stepping out rules. It’s ridiculous how far from the box the hitters go between every pitch
  11. I don’t mind our chances tomorrow. Scherzer isn’t unhittable. Corbin and Stras normally don’t relieve. I think Woodruff gives us 3 innings of no run-ball. Suter follows for 2IP. Hat gets us to Pomeranz and Hader
  12. It’s also somewhat unfair to lump that group together. While he made that much this year, it’s skewed because he made far less in the earlier years of his contract(s). Averaging it with other previous salaries makes the number seem less
  13. I’m not sad to see Joe go. He gave them a huge edge. It’s not his fault he had a team with the oldest rotation in baseball. Not only that, tpbut they were very expensive when factoring Lester, Hamels, Darvish, Quintana, Chatwood (in the pen), etc
  14. I wonder if Nelson put himself on the radar for a spot. Some other relievers haven't been as strong as late, and he could be a nice 2-3 inning weapon if recent outings are a sign
  15. I’d like a 90 wins season. Taylor Williams… If it weren’t for him, Peralta and Burnes would be candidates for worst pitcher
  16. What a terrible pitch by Hader. Once again, first 12 pitches, 11 heaters. He threw a high fastball over the heart of the plate. That pitch needs much better location, or a slider down and away to get him flailing weakly
  17. Bad loss. Why get to the 1 and take 4 throws at it, not 4 runs at it? One major reason Jimmy Graham wasn’t all that effective last year was Rodgers doesn’t put enough air on most passes. Aikman called him out on it tonight. With more air, Graham wouldn’t have dropped two in end zone in 4th quarter Rodgers once again unable to get it done in the 4th quarter. My friend thought I’d feel good about him with the ball in the 4th quarter and the packers driving, but he’s 16th best among active QBs in 4th quarter comebacks. Early in his career he had lots of leads into the 4th quarter, but when down, he hasn’t been effective at coming back
  18. my call to win 12 in a row to decide the division seemed quite prophetic. In baseball it can happen. Many fans somehow believe the Brewers were awesome all of 2018. They forget that they were good, but a huge Sept surge barely worked. This team isn't all that different. In fact, they're still finding their identity.
  19. Totally random question. If we made the World Series, is there any optimism Yelich could DH? They said 6 weeks to start running. He says he’s pain free but healing. Theoretically, he could try light hitting in 2 weeks to test it.

  21. 2020 Arcia. But hopefully Turang has a good start in A+ and moves up to AA for a taste by August. Or perhaps has a great spring training and opens there.
