  1. anybody wonder if Scarborough could do as well as Billy?
  2. Bill Hall's motto "working hard to be the new Jose Valentin, minus the walks"
  3. Hardy may be the man one day, but he should be in AAA right now. Terrible bunt attempt, then he overruns Cirillo as they pointed out, that's Hardy's ball. All we can see is that Cirillo tried waving him off, although we know he couldn't see him
  4. should of had no problem sac flying Cirillo in. except he usually grounds out
  5. not all that bad of a bunt, not like he popped it up. just a soft little liner that required a diving catch.
  6. a blooper and a flare just inside the line...that's all they can hope to get off Jorge
  7. there's an article on the brewers' site now that indicates that would be Clark's first true CS. Once he was picked off, and two were botched hit-and-runs.
  8. so do you have Glover go for 7 innings? We have a fairly well rested pen. We could just try to let De La Rosa take it the rest of the way.
  9. that's crazy...Cirillo crushed that ball, and the wind just ate it up...took away a basehit
  10. that's about the 4th ball Spivey has had caught on the track in the last 4 or 5 games. He's close. Of our hitters, he's definitely making the best contact
  11. I noticed that the boxscores this year include GO vs FO. Are these kept anywhere for the season? I looked at baseball america and it doesn't list GO and FO. I'm wondering because Hendrickson was hit so hard in spring training, then last night had a lot of groundouts, and I was curious as to if that's been the case in all of his starts so far
  12. I have actually noticed that Lee plays a pretty deep leftfield which has resulted in a number of hits falling in front of him the same was said of Jenkins (as brettac mentioned). He made the great play, but his limited range allowed a lot of balls to fall infront in left (and now right, I guess). and good to see Jose Valentin still remembers how to strikeout
  13. So.... is this a must-win? nah, this is must get healthy. Jenkins likely out till Thursday at soonest, Sheets likely to miss his start tomorrow (according to Yost, via Charlie Steiner), Branyan still sore. Stinks going into the Juicebox that injured.
  14. this is gonna be fun, I've always love Steve Lyons, and Steiner should be good, too. This has to be one of the best crews in the game
  15. I just looked, and I think it was his 2003 stats that are wrong, but I may be mistaken. You'll immediately see the one that is wrong though
  16. ccbrew, I give Cirillo a longer leash because he has a track-record of success--be it a few years back. Hall has no track-record of success above A+. Cirillo plays good defense. Hall has the potential to play good defense.
  17. Although I only saw an at bat or two, I thought Mannon looked good at the plate and in the field in spring training. Of course, everyone seemed to look good in spring training
  18. Chris, I can see him definitely in Nashville by June. Nashville has 3 prospects along with Helling and Pratt (fringe) in their rotation. If Eveland keeps this up, he could jump to AAA and replace Pratt. Of course, the really exciting dilemma would be what if Parra and Sarfate also keep it up? Sarfate already has a year at AA under his belt, and Parra's only holdup has been health. It's exciting to think we might HAVE to keep someone in AA because of depth, despite performance. Although if that were to happen, maybe Housman would be moved to the pen to work on being a long man (so he's still able to start) and also work on specifically getting lefties out.
  19. well, here's to hoping Ned gets creative tomorrow. Besides the usuals (Spivey 2b, Lee LF, Overbay 1b, Clark CF, Miller C), I say Hardy at SS, Branyan RF, Cirillo 3b. And why not try messing with the order for better balance. We know Clark first, but why not Hardy or Cirillo 2? Then Spivey 3, Lee cleanup, Overbay 5th, Miller 6th, Branyan, Cirillo/Hardy. Maybe shifting Hardy to a different spot in the order for a day or two will get him on the attack like he was in spring training. Cirillo could thrive hitting 8th, as he's a classic mistake hitter who thrives on high heaters and hanging breaking balls, but also isn't afraid to draw a walk. Plus, with Hardy's bat control (grounding out a lot), maybe he could benefit with having the hit-and-run put on when he has to be aggressive, not defensive. And perhaps one of the choppers would find the hole.
  20. nice GO/FO from Hendrickson...that's about it though
  21. Come on Brevard County. Can our relievers in the minors really be this bad? That's insane...a 7-spot!
  22. Why do I feel a whisper of optimism about this game? didn't they say at the start that Jenkins is out till Wed at the soonest?
  23. and along those lines, Spivey driving the ball well lately. Hall's made solid contact twice in the last few days, only to come up about 10 feet short both times. Now just to get that sweet spot of the bat on it
  24. Holy cow, Moss with a 3-hit game? Has he done that before? As a side note on Moss, my buddy (A's and Giants fan) was looking through his BA prospect books, and came across Steve Moss's entries the last 3 years. He pointed out the irony that the first year, a Brewers instructor is quoted as saying how the Brewers love his work ethic and his willingness to crash into walls to make the play. Then in 2004 it comments that he was injured. Then in the 2005 book we read that the Brewers are concerned about his ability to stay healthy after he hurt himself crashing into the wall. As my friend snickered, he said, "boy, I sure didn't see THAT coming a mile away."
