  1. You're right DHonks, thanks Colby. Always nice to get credit, even if I didn't post anything in this thread!
  2. would be nice to see us win so that we can avoid waking up tomorrow in 4th place.
  3. What all do we know about Ford? Does he play good defense? IS he a smart basestealer (anti-Alex Sanchez)? Or is he raw but with tons of speed, like the Dbacks Marlond Williams (aka, "smoke")?
  4. understandable fellas. I just hope that if any of us have these bad days, that you let us know before we go ahead and tread where we shouldn't. As you said, we all have bad days. We all have our thoughts which get us ridiculed. We all show some sarcasm. But the key is that at the end of the day, we draw more fans in. I love it each time the Brewers win, the next day I see huge numbers currently visiting. And while I'm not part of the staff, I speak for many of us in that we feel a special part of the site. We all do our best to contribute. I think one area where our site excels is in the minor league forum, because fans can come and ask a question about a prospect, and many of us can try to give explanations as to why they're at that level, their potential strengths, weaknesses, etc. Another major strength that keeps developing is the Draft section. And each year the Major league forum adds new fun twists. The strength of this site is a combination of things. It's strong leadership, dedicated disciples, constantly striving to improve, 3TO, and a whole lot of man-crushes (come on Diggins, you've got one more chance!)
  5. also, gotta wonder how much longer Obermueller has. 56 pitches through 3. I would figure they want him to hit, so they're shooting for 4 innings
  6. some guys like Dillard don't appear.
  7. with the exception of calvin murray, it doesn't sound as though any of the iowa cubs have put a good swing on a ball yet today. Yeah, reaching on an error and a HBP really is crushing the ball (just saying that tongue in cheek)
  8. Mass, do we know of any versatility with him? Can Crabbe play a little ss or 3b in a utility role? and for us, he's what, our #3 prospect at 2b?
  9. How does Callix not get the attention he deserves? Cause it's only April, and Callix isn't one of our big prospects. He has a chance to be very good, but I want to see a few more weeks from him before I get excited
  10. Crazy start to the game for Li'l Ben according to the live gamecast. Leadoff hitter (former Big leaguer Calvin Murray) with a grounder to 3b, but reaches on the error. Then a WP to second, and PB to third. Third and no outs, but the runner left early on a flyout to left and was called out at 3b. Then groundout to the pitcher to end the frame. Wow, talk about a wasted opportunity edit: for a second I thought the Sounds were going to do the same thing. Krynzel double to left, Weeks out, Fielder and Hart walk, Nelson hits into FC (Krynzel out at home). So two outs, bases still loaded, and Orie w/2 run single. Nice to see the Sounds jump on the Cubs 2-0 in the first
  11. I would think Helling would be given the choice...move to relief or be released. Probably a solid vet to have around. Pratt would be cut, because as much as he might has a nice arm, there's a lot of hard throwers who can never put it together
  12. With his polish, at what point do we see him bumped up to AAA? I almost forgot about last year...so he's now thrown about 45 innings in AA. I would assume 75 innings is about what they'd want to see, so for him, mid-May. I say 75, because that's about half a season's worth
  13. In his defense, Magruder got jobbed on a pitch that was well outside. and below the knees, too.
  14. Of course the Twins were considering moving to Doug M to 2nd. and what position did the Brewers move Cirillo to at one point? Answer: 2b
  15. I was a bit baffled at the pinch hit with Cirillo, but then two thoughts came to mind. One, perhaps Branyan's shoulder is a bit weak still. Two, perhaps the philosophy of the team for this year is to set Branyan up for success. Having him play almost exclusively against righties would help him pad his stats a bit. Then when they feel he's ready to go everyday, he'll be more established in the big leagues. Of course, that could be way off. Just trying to figure out the rationale. And I don't need it pointed out again that in '04, Branyan his lefties and righties similarly.
  16. The first one might have been a little more difficult, but when you get the announcers(who might be the worst I have ever heard) to agree that it should have been an error, I think it should have been. not sure which announcers. The Giants TV and radio guys are among the best in all of sports....an absolute pleasure to listen to
  17. I agree Scoop. Remember when the Crew moved him to 2b back in about '95? Cirillo has played plenty of innings at 2b in the bigs and minors. I just didn't see anything wrong with making sure he got the out, no need to double switch with out top 7 in the lineup doing fine, and the bullpen in good shape
  18. well..I must say Ned is absolutly brain dead on this call. He wastes a pitcher out of the bullpen for 1 at bat Scoop, Santos threw a CG last night, so the pen is at full strength. Adams and Bottalico could probably use innings just to stay sharp. And there's others out there, too Against the pitcher. He's no Sheets, Davis or Santos. Tomko is one of the best hitting pitchers in the game.
  19. yet another tough one for Hardy. an error, a great play to start the DP despite a terrible hop, and that one nearly got him in the head
  20. this is mainly for colby, but also for anyone else in the know. I'm a fan of HS pitchers. Who are the HS pitchers likely to be considered for our pick?
  21. well, Tomko is one of the best hitting pitchers in the game...probably on par with Obermueller
  22. cappy with more control problems out of the stretch
  23. wow, what a grab! Lee the defensive whiz!
  24. my prediction for the day...Capuano gets a hit
