  1. Thanks Mass, forgot about that. I knew Wahpepah was scheduled to follow Rogers, but wasn't the game called early last time? And Scoop, I wouldn't be too worried about Lehr. I know one organization was shocked he was even available. He was dominant last year in the PCL. If he's doing this badly in a month, then that's a different story
  2. well, we were outhit 10-6 and outplayed defensively (made an error; Pirates with several great plays at the fence). would have been nice to steal this one, especially after the nice outing from Glover. Would really be nice if Lee would start hitting a few doubles and homers, and if Jenkins would continue hitting the ball better (some positive signs the last two games)
  3. I'm an avid golfer, and love the M-frames. They look goofy at first, but you get over how you look when you realize it's a lot easier to see. Having no lower frame is especially important in golf because with proper posture you have to watch the ball out of the lower part of your field of vision
  4. * Move the right field fence in 30 feet. Clancy, I believe that's illegal. The corners have a minimum distance, unless there are greater engineering reasons at work (like Hou)
  5. surprised to see Rogers appear in this game. Wonder if they're planning on Rogers and Wahpepah just sharing starts until they build up some pitch counts and innings
  6. do you pull jeff for russ...and the hopes of a tie game off of a rightie? I would think he bats for the pitcher, with the chance to be the go ahead run or better
  7. 0 for 3 with runners in scoring position and about a .200 average with runners in scoring position this year what skews that is the triple by Spivey scored Clark, and then he was knocked in despite retiring Overbay. not getting a hit there scored a run, but doesn't show up in the avg w/RiSP
  8. looks like the Persimmon lens to me Click here
  9. Powell saying that Glover is throwing 92 or 94, depending on which of the two guns. Hardly the typical #5 starter's stuff
  10. Lee tossed out at third. Thought I should mention that while Dbacks minor league coaches generally preach a station-to-station approach (Moneyball-like), they are very aggressive in trying to steal third base. The theory is that if you do it at a moment when the catcher isn't expecting it, not only will you successfully steal at a very high rate, but at least 1/3rd of the time the throw will go into LF allowing the runner to score. Interesting theory. I wish I was still coaching softball to put it into practice and try it out.
  11. the Russell shades are likely just a pair of Oakley M-Frames. All professional baseball players get Oakleys for free, hence why they are the primary shades worn. In the Fall League every position player wore them regularly, while the pitchers just wore their pairs to and from the park. They also get to exchange their lenses frequently to always have lenses without scratches. I can't tell what color lense he has, but I would expect it's Oakley. I did notice Hall's the other day with the silver frames when he made that great play at SS
  12. is the ball jumping off the bats? Ueck didn't sound excited about Spivey's triple till it kept carrying. and there Powell thought Clark's fly was routine in the gap, not to the wall
  13. JDLR has some control issues as well...for the time being I think he is a good long-reliever until he stops going so deep in the count... agreed rwa12. Basically, JDLR needs to continue attacking hitters. He has the kind of stuff where he could have a long career throwing stuff over the plate that guys just can't touch. He needs to forget about nibbling and just attack. The coaches will know when he's ready, likely next year or late in the season. Barring an emergency, I'd rather he stay in the pen all year so as to maximize his success. No need to push him into a role where he might struggle, which could take away from his success as a reliever. Then again, this is all being said after 3 outings. Nice to have guys like him and Obermueller. With Santos and Glover likely being 5-6 inning pitchers (sometimes 4 innings), we'll need these guys to soak up some innings to keep the others fresh
  14. maybe we'll get to see our golden child, Jorge
  15. actually, I like playing Jenkins against the lefty. He'll have to focus more, and hopefully it'll get him swinging better
  16. Also, what about having something like "3TO True Believer" on the front at one of the sides (like over the heart, as some shirts do), and on the back "Worshipping at the Church of Russell the Muscle 162 games a year"
  17. Does anyone here besides me think that Dana Eveland is our best pitching prospect. I know Capellan has the stuff to be really special, but Dana Eveland has excelled at every level he has been. I really think this kid is going to be a very, very good pitcher for the Brewers for a long time. Eveland seems a lot like Hendrickson. Not many bad starts, great numbers, but then there's always skeptics (BA, for one). I saw him in Spring Training and he's hardly big like David Wells. He just looked like a guy who is built more like a square. Like Carlos Lee.
  18. Jenkins 2-2, 2B, 1 BB, 1 HBP, 1 SF, 4 RBI Much like Favre in the mid-90's, Jenks will turn it on after taking a shot to the head.
  19. Gotta say I'm worried. Redman owned the Crew when with the Marlins. He could get shelled and walk everyone, then face the Crew in his next start and dominate. I am intrigued by Glover. Friday he was throwing 92-93 with a nasty slurve/slider/cutter.
  20. I know in Tucson they have 2-3 DARE days...the only games on the schedule that start during the day. Heck, I remember my school's 4th grade trip to County Stadium each year. It was something we all looked forward to
  21. 10:05 am....wow. I'll be getting ready for the day here in AZ and Eveland will be toeing the rubber. Gotta love those school games.
  22. Gotta say, this Nashville gametracker is awesome. My boy Krynzel is once again 3-5 with 4 rbi, homer, 2b, and single. Nashville with a 5-spot in the bottom of the 8th to tie it at 7 And Kane Davis striking out the world. Remember when he made the Mets out of spring training about 3-4 years ago, and Valentine wouldn't stop raving about how he was throwing hitting triple digits? Then he blew out his arm.
  23. wow, Khalid had a good start...that gives him what, 2 for his career? Here's to a whole new start for the guy who gets much love here
  24. why Cirillo tomorrow? Isn't he starting Wed vs the lefty?
  25. except are the minor leaguers even getting people in scoring position?
