  1. OK… Thought he was still well inside line when the ball hit him.
  2. It’s been a couple years now, right? At the game...did Chacin’s throw to 1st hit Ahmed? Runner was clearly inside the line
  3. I'm still very happy with DirecTV Now. Given it costs $10 as an AT&T Unlimited user, it's nice.
  4. So Chase is just missing one turn in the rotation. Not too bad. Wish we had some news about Jimmy's timeframe.
  5. He's putting up some Hurricane-like numbers!
  6. Agent39, do you find that some young men in baseball put money above personal happiness?
  7. from the side, I like the 2017 look more. The 2018 version looks like he's trying to become Counsell. Still, whatever works!
  8. Well the hitting has never been a concern. I can't believe his elbow is that big of a deal for as well as he's hitting. Being that it's his top hand, if he was in major pain or had significant damage I would think that would zap all the power out of his swing. My understanding is that—like golf—the power comes from the left hand, side, and hip rotation. The right hand is along for the ride
  9. that's hilarious! One iffy outing and that's what we're calling it? Good luck to Corbin
  10. Personally I don't get the complaining. I like having depth. I don't believe in starters playing 162 games. I want my starters playing 130-140 games. I like tinkering with the lineup and I like adjusting the lineup for opponent pitcher type or handedness.
  11. I thought he was on the injured list....see the other thread
  12. My guess is that Braun had that really bad leg injury (calf? quad?) around the all-star break that year. He tried to avoid the DL and that led to him discussing untraceable substances that could aid his recovery. He likely knew there was something sketchy, but not sure he knew enough to ask questions
  13. Wonder what the goal with Coulter is at this point. His breakout year was so long ago....
  14. I never heard this. Of course, I've never heard Braun mention his fractional ethnicity, just various reports. Pretty sure he's not religiously Jewish, though.
  15. Hopefully Erceg starts hot and advances up the ladder, because Blanco adds nothing anywhere in the chain. I would have rather seen Franklin get the starts at 3B. At least he still has some upside in theory. except Franklin will be catching
  16. well, I just spent 2 hours on the phone with MLB.tv, and they can't explain why the Brewers-Padres is blacked out on my Apple TV and computer, but available on my phone
  17. well, I'm still on hold with MLB.TV to try to resolve this issue with why I can't watch on my Apple TV or computer.
  18. well, I have the screenshots from the pitch tracker, and the first Padres hit should have been ruled a strikeout IF that Shaw pitch was a strike.
  19. Are you in the Padres blackout zone? They have a claim on most of southern Arizona. what's weird is I can stream on my phone, but not my laptop or ATV
  20. just curious, but anyone else not able to access this game? my Apple TV says the game is subjected to local or blackout restrictions. I live in phoenix, and have subscribed for many years
  21. Fully agreed. It's amazing how with 1 or 2 bad seasons, or one injury, and people write someone off as if they'll never achieve. If you look at only a person's first few years, most baseball stars would have been given up on.
  22. It's pretty easy. Yo's velocity was up last year. And players his age frequently have a couple solid-to-good years left in them. Moyer was pretty crappy until age 30, and didn't start consistently throwing well until age 33. John Lackey? It sounded like Yo was willing to work on things, and I would hope he'd consider signing with the Brewers for some AAA depth on a minor league contract.
  23. One of my favorite memories was when Harry Dalton had a bunch of people at his Cave Creek, AZ home. A friend and I were in college and accompanied my parents to the party. When he found out I was a die-hard fan, he stepped away from the party and showed my friend and I his baseball memorabilia collection in his garage. There must have been 300 pieces in his garage--personal notes from players, etc.
  24. Last year I said they'd with 83 games, plus or minus a few depending on mid-season trades or injuries. Braun underperformed due to injury, but the team did well. This year I'll say 88-74. Surprisingly, I think we'll miss Garza (pre-injury). I think our rotation will do fine with Suter and Woodruff at least doing adequately. Our offense is dramatically upgraded with a healthy Braun (to open the year), Cain in CF, and Yelich, and our defense should be much better.
  25. Kazmir went through this once before in his career. I'd consider signing him for AAA depth, hoping he works through it. He'd be cheap, since the Braves are paying him so much
