  1. Watching via MLB Gameday. I feel like this is a Doug Davis circa 2010 game. How slow is this game going?
  2. One thing I have found on this board over the years is the tendency to greatly overvalue some of the in house prospects. Taylor Green was 2012s version of this and Logan Schafer is the 2013 version. While I think that both of these players could be contributors on an everyday basis, I don't think they project as anything more than say a Daniel Descalso in Green's case or a Jon Jay in Schafer's. In other words, I wouldn't trade a Hart, Ramirez or Weeks to open a spot for Green, nor would I be willing to give up on Gomez to open a spot for Schafer. Schafer and Green are cheap insurance in the event of injuries as bench players moving forward.
  3. Yes on Hart. No on Aoki http://forum.brewerfan.net/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=29443
  4. Let's not forget Rickie is ours through 2015, Lucroy through 2017 & Segura through 2018, meaning 6 of our 8 position players are signed up through 2015, or the next 3 seasons. Now let's just keep our fingers crossed we can develop 4 of Thornburg, Hellweg, Burgos, Fiers, Peralta, Bradley, Jungmann, Nelson to complement Yo.
  5. I think the low end for Gomez over the life of this contract now that he will play 162 and not platoon is .250, 15 HR, 55 RBI, 35 SB all while playing Gold Glove D. Keep in mind that last year was the first time he got over 400 ABs since 2008 when he was 22 years old. Is that worth $8 million per? I think it is a worthwhile risk considering B.J. Upton just got $15 million per and his 162 game average is .255, 20 HR, 75 RBI, 39 SB. While you can absolutely argue that money would've been spent better elsewhere, we should be getting a player that is arguably as good as Upton for about half the price.
  6. http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/03/13/the-state-of-florida-is-now-investigating-biogenesis-but-it-probably-wont-matter-for-baseball/ I always seemed to like the stuff Craig Calcaterra posted on Hardball Talk, but him calling out guys in his own industry like Passan and Olney for wanting the State of Florida to go after Braun & A-Rod was surprising.
  7. I think Boesch will go to a team where he will get a shot at starting. With the Brewers he is basically locked in a battle for the 4th/5th OF spot. I would like to see Gindl or Kh. Davis first but if Boesch would come in and be willing to be the 4th/5th OF it wouldn't hurt. I just don't see him settling for a backup role.
  8. http://baseballsanjose.blogspot.com/2010/08/we-proudly-introduce-cisco-field.html Whether or not it gets built,it looks like a pretty cool looking place. Love the RF corner.
  9. I really despise Jeff Passan. Braun may be guilty but his reporting on the subject is embarrassingly biased IMO http://sports.yahoo.com/news/good-news--bad-news--where-miami-new-times-fails--government-steps-up-in-biogenesis-case-012828073.html
  10. I am convinced it is Ryan Braun http://espn.go.com/mlb/player/stats/_/id/28576/ryan-braun
  11. What is also interesting to note is the date on the piece, listed as Thursday March 14, 2013, which is two days from now. I'm sure that doesn't matter in the grand scheme, but it also shows that fact checking isn't a priority for the Miami New Times apparently.
  12. Loving the WBC and watching all these guys I have never heard of before (Japan especially) but this is the only thing I disagree with as well. I don't know why they do it exactly (competitive balance perhaps) but it really sits wrong with me that a player who is born and raised in the U.S. would want to play for the Dominican, as A-Rod wanted to do in 2009 IIRC. I think changing it to having been a native or a dual citizen of both countries may be a remedy. I am German and would root for Germany if the U.S. didn't win, but would never choose to play for Germany over the U.S. under any circumstances. When the circumstances were "you wouldn't make the US roster," you wouldn't have a change of heart? Nope, but that is just my point of view. I just couldn't see myself going against the United States (sports, politics, whatever). I may disagree with methods or means, but never against. Would seem off to me. That is just me though.

  14. Second letter in the blacked out name looks like it could be a lower case y. Could be a lower case j,g,p as well.
  15. That drives me crazy. Makes no sense. Not to nitpick a great game...but what really drives me crazy too is when you wear the retro uniforms and the coaches wear the current uniform jackets. Seriously though, how can they include the new BP hats and not include the actual game jersey gold alternate?
  16. I am about 7 or 8 (1989 or 1990) in Chandler for Spring Training. Robin Yount, still in uniform, is standing at a chainlink fence signing autographs for everyone. When its my turn, he puts his batting bag down, opens it, grabs a batting glove and sticks it through the fence for me. The woman next to me, probably 35-40, grabs the batting glove out of my hand and runs off. Robin Yount (ROBIN YOUNT!) yells at the woman for me saying..."Hey!! Come back here! I was giving that to the kid!!" The woman sheepishly walks back gives Robin the glove, who then gives it to me. Best Brewers memory ever
  17. I like BA quite a lot and think it would be a loss if he left. Let's not forget how much most of us missed Cory Provus last season and how average Joe Block is. If BA left we would run the risk of a return of an annoying/terrible announcer like Daron Sutton.
  18. Pete Kozma... starting NL SS at the ASG.
  19. But The Show has early 90s script ball and glove logo jersey and the sweet road grays from the late 80s early 90s with the right shade of blue. Unlike the current alternate ball and glove which is sky blue for some reason. Go figure.
  20. Wow! Congrats Stache...I assume all of BF is invited?
  21. "Big League" Donnie Murphy made my potential list last Friday when I was at the Brewers-Rockies game. After striking out against the Rockies to end the inning, he removed his batting gloves, helmet and left his bat all strewn about for the bat boy to go retrieve the pieces. Then when Segura brought him his glove and sunglasses, didn't even acknowledge him. While I understand this is the norm during the regular season and this guy is trying to make the team, both me and my dad were surprised by his body language which screamed entitlement. Maybe just a bad day, but no one else on the Brewers that day seemed so unlikeable.
  22. http://www.bizjournals.com/phoenix/morning_call/2013/03/mesa-oakland-as-sign-20-year-spring.html A's to Hohokam. While I don't want to take the Cubs sloppy seconds in terms of a facility, I definitely hate that the Brewers are still in Maryvale. I went to Surprise Stadium last year, Salt River Fields last week and have been by Camelback Ranch, Goodyear Ballpark, Tempe Diablo and Peoria Sports Complex many times. All of these stadiums are new and/or are in vastly superior neighborhoods. While the ballpark itself is nice, I for one will be shocked if the Brewers don't leave after 2014. There seem to be too many other opportunities out there to not consider leaving that neighborhood. I for one wouldn't mind sharing a facility with a team from the Grapfruit League, Twins or Astros (only AL West team not in AZ) perhaps if that's what it took in order to get that rumored Scottsdale stadium built.
  23. 3 pages in. If my count is correct, 31 record predictions and the average is for the Brewers to finish 83-79.
  24. This is EXACTLY why I would rather take a flier on LaPorta or a LaPorta type like Lars Anderson(change of scenery, 20s guy) over Lee or Overbay. Good call Turbo. I hadn't even thought of the RR angle.
  25. Every day I come to BF and expect to read "Lohse and Brewers have come to terms on a 3 year contract worth $24ish million."
