  1. I apologize, but your demeanor here turns off a lot of posters... Yup, I shouldn't have gone there. So now you speak for a lot of posters? Give me a break. This board is getting into a very bad habit of tearing down anyone who has a differing opinion. My thoughts didn't attack anyone individually. It only pointed out that some players get butchered, sometimes for little things, while a guy like Knebel blows a game (3BS) and not a peep about him. I've seen others say it's because Villar just makes so many mistakes and all that and I accept their opinion and would've easily moved on. You just decided to be not to nice to me for really no reason other than we disagree. "...and I apologized." Are you two married?
  2. If Kershaw has another 10 years similar to his last 10 years, he'll have well over 4,000 career strikeouts, which is quite a lot. He'll also be 1500+ Ks short of Nolan Ryan's record.
  3. Dodgers are 7-2 against the Cards and Cubs in the last week+. I'd be happy with 1 win in this series--unless we win tonight.
  4. I have no idea about anything here, but this post made me laugh on several different levels.
  5. There are none on the team other than Braun. There are other guys around the league that we drafted and are playing in the bigs - Khris Davis, Scooter, Lorenzo Cain, Lucroy. JJ Hardy, Michael Brantley, Brett Lawrie, Mitch Haniger. Weeks is still playing (I think). Probably missed a few guys. A bunch of those guys are/were pretty good, too. Cain, Brantley, Davis and Haniger is a playoff caliber OF. I don't remember exactly what sort of ceilings were placed on these guys as prospects, but I'm pretty sure they've exceeded those optimistic projections.
  6. Ozzie Smith and Omar Vizquel were both poor offensive players in their 20s and decent to good offensive players in their 30s.
  7. Sounds like the Mets tested Franklin and lost... it's strange how occasionally a poor outfielder can make an out that a GREAT OFer wouldn't make because the runners wouldn't test him. Baseball is a funny game.
  8. I would have to think yes. Even if you limit the timeframe to 1970-present, we probably only have the Rockies beat.
  9. For good measure, Cincinnati and Pittsburgh lost tonight as well.
  10. I'd prefer Beck or Adell to Kendall. It is obvious to me that this FO sees tools-y outfielders as currently underrated by the market. They may be right--but if we grab a 21 year old OF in the draft we better have some trades on the table. Judging from our prior drafts, the highest MLB value that our #1 picks have held was the day the World Series ended and they were eligible to be traded...
  11. He isn't an AS bat anymore. Those days are gone it seems. You are right about him not going to be traded though. A-wha? I read somewhere on these boards that some respected webbers (Fancharts? BP? BA? (couldn't have been BA. He's an over-rated announcer)) had Braun as the #1 left fielder in baseball coming into this year. I would not disagree with that assessment. Last year he slashed .305/.368/.538. That's incredibly good. He was doing just as well this year before nagging injuries came up. When he comes back, he will hit, just like he always has. The guy is no hero, but he can hit. He isn't overpaid right now, and we have lots of cash to spend. He MIGHT be overpaid in a couple of years.
  12. The tribe recently moved him to the pen. Perhaps a change in scenery would help him out? What would it take to get him?
  13. I wouldn't say they have a lot of work to do, although they obviously will need to continually re-build their pitching staff. Their position player group is set up extremely well for the next 5 years.
  14. So, we are going to head into 2018 with Braun, Broxton, Santana, Brinson, Phillips, Cordell, Thames, and Aguilar?
  15. I think this is a decent synopsis of the situation, although I think the second "wave" is much closer to a ripple... If we aren't going to get a decent return for Braun, I am happy to hang onto him, along with Broxton, Brinson, and Cordell. I'd trade away Santana, Phillips and Reed for young (19/20) pitching with high ceilings. Between Clark, Ray, Harrison, and Gatewood I would think we'll have a replacement for Braun in '21 or '22. I think we have the pieces in place to be a good+ offense for the next 8 years. Sign a FA starter (or two) and trade for another, and we are an 85 win ballclub, anyway. Perhaps more depending on how the staff develops.
  16. We've gotten the bad end of a lot of replays the last couple of days--both overturned and not.
  17. What is Mark A going to pull in this year in profits?
  18. No matter if he never played again, it shouldn't effect anything the Brewers are doing or want to do. What if we have a better option in the minors? We are going to bench Braun? Release him? If we have 3 better options than a healthy Braun, we might have the best OF in the history of baseball.
  19. If we didn't get back MLB level or very close to it, the window closes with all those other guys. Then you might as well sell off all the rest too. If you do that, what exactly are we ever playing for? Weren't the rumors at the time that we wanted Matt Cain for Corey Hart but the Giants were offering Bumgarner instead and Melvin said "no thanks?"
  20. If that's the case, he'll be sitting on his couch watching the Brewers after they bought out that year of his contract for $4M.
  21. The last few reactionary posts are ridiculous. When healthy, he has been among the most consistent players in the league. I can't think of a cold streak from the guy. He has had 3 bad games since coming off the DL. His worst possible output means hitting .270/.325./.450. When he is on the DL, he is NOT blocking anybody younger, and if his replacements hit as well as he does when he is at his worst, we would call them a resounding success.
  22. Wouldn't it be better to root for them to take him at #46?
  23. One can always go younger. Is he not even worth Gavin Lux+Dustin May+AJ Alexy?
