  1. Which would make him perfect for the NL West with all the pitchers parks out there.
  2. More wishful thinking than blue after the Chapman trade.
  3. Since he wasn't included in the Chapman trade, do you think we could pry Candelario+ from they for Jeffress? Looks like we could even get more. I would also love to send Smith and Maldanado to Cleveland for Mejia and McKenzie. Lucroy and Torres to Rangers for Brinson, Matuella, Jurado, Mendez, and two guys the scouts like in lower minors. That leaves us Thornburg who can be our closer next year, bring up the two AAA catchers for the rest of the year and see what they can do. That was easy....GM of the year. Sorry I started out with Smith to Cubs and changed to Jeremy and forgot to change threads....
  4. It would be nice to get those two players away from the Cubs and and into the AL. Might as well throw in Miller for Baez and Schwarber while you are at it.
  5. Wow, if they get Lucroy and Gray, that will take a lot of the minor league depth they have acquired recently.
  6. Maybe the Braves will go on tear and overtake us in the standings by year end. Bonus!
  7. Torres is more of a "throw-in" guy than Smith, Jeffress or Thornburg. Honestly, I think Smith is gone, but Jeffress might have a very high asking price that most teams won't want to meet. All it takes is one though!
  8. Aiken, McKenzie and Mejia would acceptable. That'll do pig, that'll do.
  9. Your packages make me very excited!!!! That's what she said...
  10. I really don't think the Indians give up any of their top four unless it turns to a bidding war. I would think something like Lucroy and Smith for Sheffield, McKenzie, Mejia, Hillman, Diaz would be more likely to get done. Indians may have to offer up even more even they want both and aren't willing to give up Frazier/Zimmer/Bradley/Aiken.
  11. Besides SS and possibly 1B, where would Gatewood move to?
  12. I think we would probably have to replace Juan Hillman with Aiken/Bradley and then maybe add a lower prospect for Lucroy. I don't thin they give up both Aiken and Bradley. I would personally prefer a Mejia, McKenzie, Sheffield, Hillman and maybe a lottery ticket if we can squeeze it out in return. I also agree with splitter that I think DS will deal one player at a time unless the return is amazing. I don't think we will see a Lucroy/Smith or Lucroy/Jeffress deal.
  13. I want the Brewers to make trades to win a World Series someday not make trades to make sure another team doesn't win a World Series we have no shot at. Mets have the best package they can have Smith and win the World Series this year for all I care. Overall I agree, last year just left a bad taste in my mouth, although I should be thanking them for pulling out of the trade. I think the Mets system is a bit weak anyway, but I would have no problem trading someone too them as long as they had the best offer.
  14. Just saw that the Mets were looking at Brewers relievers. Honestly, they are still in my doghouse over last year. Unless they want to really outbid everyone else, I freeze them out til next year. Let them miss the playoffs by one game and DS can deal with someone else...like Cleveland or Houston.
  15. Disappointing, but understandable in the fact that we used up all our extra cash.
  16. I understand we want top talent, but if Frazier/Zimmer is not available, and Stearns isn't sold on Bradley or Aiken, I don't think Sheffield, McKenzie, Mejia, Hillman and a lower lottery tickets is necessarily out of the question. I don't care about getting a catcher in the deal as I'm a best player available guy, but I think with Mejia the two coincide. Also gives us three high upside arms. That is five guys you throw into the mix between Wisconsin and Biloxi. AAA becomes another place for veterans looking for a change of scenery and waiver claims and any of our top prospects that deserve to be there. I think by 2018 that would be a stacked minor league system top to bottom and Stearns can concentrate on sustainability rather than rebuilding. This could even sway our A+ team for next year so we don't have to go to Lancaster.
  17. Giants could use him too. Always nice to have an intradivision bidding war.
  18. I don't know a ton about prospects, but neither one of the guys the Braves got were on the MLB top 30 for LAD. Was this more of money deal for the Braves?
  19. Wow, I didn't know Brinson was struggling THAT much. I guess you have to trust your scouts at that point. --Captain Obvious
  20. Why are you adding both Anderson and jeffrees? Just adding Anderson should net that package Even better! Honestly, I was under the impression that Brinson and Tate would be hard gets so I figured it would take Lucroy and Anderson just to get those two and Jeffess comes in to nab the other two.
  21. I would love to have the Astros string off 15 in a row and start a bidding war between them and the Rangers for Lucroy. Dream scenario. Even if the catchers in Texas are decent, it is getting towards the really hot time of year for them. Having two good catchers down there would be more important than say somewhere in the North. Lucroy/Anderson/Jeffess for Brinson\Tate\ Jurado\Forbes
  22. I think you need to keep in mind that Braun could push the Mets in the WS. Without him, they may not make the playoffs. It is definitely a gamble, but for a team like the Mets, who don't have any bats coming up it might be worth the risk. New York is a place of risk and reward and Braun fits that description in spades. If I'm a team in the Mets position, I might do that deal.
  23. Not to draw any conclusions from DS's first year, but it seems like he is going college pitchers in the draft and then tries to get the young teenagers through trades after they have a little time in the minors. Seems like a smart way to go, but as it is said, small sample size.
  24. I know part of the concern with Ray is his ability to stick in CF, but keep in mind that we may have 2 other "CF's" playing in the OF. I think if Ray is in CF, Clark in LF, and Phillips in RF, that will be fine. If Ray can take a good route on the ball even if he lacks some speed out there, Clark and Phillips would be able to make up the difference.
