  1. Who is Nolan Watson??? I have not seen his name at all?
  2. Blargh! I hope the Cubs do not draft Cameron. They have enough amazing youth coming up the way it is. Let them draft a #3 pitcher like we normally do.
  3. Is Hayes someone you would draft in the 1st and hope to save cash for later pics? I thought he might be a slight stretch for 1st round, but if we could save some cash to put towards signing other guys I guess I would be ok with it. I think I would still rather take someone else at 15 and hope beyond hope that he falls to our next pick (40?).
  4. I'm not sure if the Pirates' 1B are playing better, but I would make an offer for Lind before they play the Brewers on Monday. That alone takes away from one team and helps your needs. It could result in an extra win during the series and get you that much closer to the Cards.
  5. I think at this point DM is looking to deal everyone but Lucroy for the reasons mentioned before. He's cost controlled, we have not depth behind the plate, and he will help the young pitchers that will be coming up in the next couple years. Another person we should keep is probably Garza. He may help us get the #1 pick next draft and hopefully have a bounce back year next year and we can trade him for another piece. Lohse and Ramirez should be pawned off for whatever we can get. K-Rod should be pretty easy to trade away given how well he is going. Gomez, Braun, Segura, Lind will all depend on what people are offering n return. They could all technically be traded in the off-season, but I would personally like the retooling to begin as soon as possible.
  6. I was wondering the same thing as far as a trade is concerned. Does this make management think that Segura is more expendable? We now have 4 guys who are either AAA or MLB shortstops. Of course it would be nice if one could play 3B.
  7. 1-Whitley 2-Happ 3-Allard 4-Betts I think Allard might be the best of the bunch, but back injuries scare me...just not as much as irregular UCL's. (Aiken)
  8. Ok, not giving up all hope yet, but right now it looks like it may not be in the cards this year. IF we start selling, how advanced a player are we looking for? MA/DM are known to look at almost major league ready players normally, but if we start a fire sale, shouldn't we be looking at players in the A and AA level to come up with our homegrown stars? If we do that, will that cause problems later on for the 40 man roster? Sorry for all the questions, but this is the first time I can remember being in a position to possibly get a lot of talent into system in one season. Thanks for the responses beforehand!
  9. I would happy with Dunn or Carp if they made it to us. I would definitely let Overbay go if we got Carp, but I'm not sure how much of an upgrade Dunn would be over Overbay. He'd be a great power bat for late game situations though.
  10. I suppose it would be wishful thinking to offer Jungmann, Bradley, Thornburg and Smith. Could we fit Maldy in there to keep Nelson somehow? Not sure if that first line should be in blue or not.
  11. Melvin should target a package of Garrett Jones + Steve Cishek. According to Mass, you might get your wish. Keep your fingers crossed. Check out the Agent39 thread. I only hope that Estrada is part of that deal and we don't give up too much future talent.
  12. Gomez hat trick: (1) steal a home run, (2) hit a home run, (3) get in a fistfight with Derek Jeter. I like the first 2, but make No.3 a fight with Matheny or Molina in the NL dugout and you're getting more to what I was thinking. Maybe he will touch Beltre's head.
  13. I know a few of you have brought up this idea, but with Moustakas being sent down and A-Ram on the DL I would say that now would be a good as time as any. We are a little desparate so KC may try and squeeze more out of us, but his return is probably as low as it will get. Granted he is struggling this year (understatement) but he is only 25 and should be a lot better than he is. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/05/central-notes-cardinals-chapman-moustakas.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+MlbTradeRumors+%28MLB+Trade+Rumors%29
  14. I get that Helweg has not lived up to expectations, but don't tall pitchers usually come around a little later in their career? I thought I remembered hearing that somewhere. I don't expect him to ever be a lights out type pitcher, but number 4 or 5 workhouse is definitely valuable. Hopefully he puts it together enough this year to at least stick as a bullpen arm next year.
  15. Sounds like a Morrison trade is close. Sounds like Brewers, Blue Jays and Rays are most likely. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/12/pirates-discussing-logan-morrison-adam-lind.html
  16. I would be all for this one depending on what we had to give up. Knowing the Marlins we may be able to snag him on the cheap with some cash thrown in. Not sure if this would influence Hart's decision to sign here or not, but if not at worst it would be a nice platoon at 1B with both able to play outfield if need be. We NEED a LH bat with Aoki gone and I agree the smaller park would, if nothing else, have positive mental effect on Morrison. Go get him DM.
  17. The funny thing about this is TheCrew07 has probably the most foresight on this board. It's one of the things that make him one of the best posters on here, even if many disagree with his opinions. Agreed to both sentiments.
  18. I get where everyone is coming from on this, but feel free to shoot my "Rainbows and Unicorns" attitude full of holes. It appears as though we already have most of the guys that we wanted to sign, signed at this point. While I agree the drafting of bullpen arms early in the draft is crazy, it appears that it may have allowed us to sign Denson who might be a huge get along with the catcher a couple rounds before. I almost wish they would have done this same thing last year (or year before) when we couldn't sign Rendon. I understand the "just think what else we could have got" opinion, but I'm trying to appear positive...for now. Also, the drafting of big durable pitchers seems to be working out so far also. I understand we don't have any world beaters out there, but having half a dozen #2's and #3's who haven't had any major injuries (knock on wood! knock on wood!) has been a nice change from previous years. Hopefully some of them are solid contributors to the major league rotation soon and for a long a time.
  19. I'd try and take off Peralta and add Prince and Jed Bradley and see if there is any interest. I also heard a rumor that Melvin was contacted about Nolasco and Logan Morrison.
  20. Just won the NL Cy Young. Up goes the price if we are interested.
  21. Trevor Bauer anyone? http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2012/11/diamondbacks-will-listen-to-offers-for-trevor-bauer.html
  22. Agreed -Boise State Employee
  23. http://ht.ly/2sT70y Josh Prince at #4. Also, possible Rule 5 guy at the bottom of the article would be a nice pick up for us with our bullpen problems this year. Santos Rodriguez lhp. High walks, but not many dingers so maybe they wouldn't be quite so detrimental? Sorry. This is a Baseball America article in case you were wondering. The link is off Twitter.
