  1. https://www.mlb.com/amp/news/mlb-mock-draft-june-30-2021.html?__twitter_impression=true In this mock, we draft Colton Cowser, with Jordan Wicks as a possibility. Not sure why we’d be enamored with Wicks. He may have a nice changeup, but he didn’t exactly dominate the competition by any stretch of the imagination. I wouldn’t mind Cowser, though I’d prefer Ford or Solometo
  2. On Keith Law’s latest mock draft: It would be interesting if Ford was moved off catcher and tried out 3B. Would definitely fill a void in our system.
  3. Not many guys I actually like in particularly in this draft class. Maybe Harry Ford, Bubba Chandler, and Andrew Painter?
  4. I personally prefer the guy with flashier stuff, but not really sure what to think since we've been burned by taking guys with flashy tools and we've also been burned by guys that have been touted to be polished. Such is the crapshoot that is the MLB draft
  5. I have a feeling that we may end up drafting Matt McClain. We do seem to prioritize up the middle players, and he seems to be within the 12-15 range in the mocks the last time I checked
  6. Remember Braden Looper? There was a time when he was the second-best starting pitcher on this team. We finally have a legit 1-2 punch in Woodruff and Burnes, and there is no way in hell that I’m even entertaining the thought of letting them go.
  7. Patrick Weigel and Chad Sobotka. About what I expected
  8. I imagine the return is going to either be a couple lottery tickets or some more bodies to fill the bullpen.
  9. I can imagine a whole lot of this happening in the next few weeks: Article title: YELICH AND HADER ABOUT TO BE TRADED TO THE PADRES??? Article content: No
  10. If he can hit just half as well as he did in 2018, this would be a very solid pickup.
  11. I wonder if a move to 1B would be better for Hiura's bat, since he can get away with being a bat-first player, at least more so than when he was playing 2B.
  12. The Rays and Padres make sense as landing spots, but I’m not sure if they’ll be willing to give up that much for Hader. I think we’re long past the days when one could get the likes of Gleyber Torres for a closer.
  13. Aside from Yelich's extension, things are becoming more interesting than last year for sure.
  14. I don't mind getting Turner on a 1 year deal, but I can't imagine that it would beat out what the Dodgers and Jays are offering.
  15. Even if we're getting the 2018 Semien, that's still more power than most of the guys in our lineup last season
  16. Well, at least he hit better than most of our lineup last season. Doesn’t really address the gaping holes in our infield, though.
  17. Something interesting I noticed: Fernando Tatis Jr. was ranked #27 in MLB's international prospect rankings in 2015 and was signed for $825k. Not to say that any one of our guys may turn into another Tatis, but just goes to show that this whole international signing thing is a crapshoot. Some guy making $3 mil may flame out, while a guy who didn't even crack $1 mil may turn into a superstar. I'm totally okay with us signing as many lottery tickets as we can rather than putting all our eggs into one basket, even if our guys aren't ranked that highly at first.
  18. Just send the Sox a cardboard cutout of Mr. Burns
  19. David Stearns stars in the new hit film, "The Venezuelan Candidate." Coming soon to a brewery near you.
  20. I feel like we have a monopoly on all of Venezuela's young up the middle guys at this point
  21. I wonder if this will trigger a chain reaction of sorts, with the remaining top FA relievers trying to gun for $30-40 mil on the market. Perhaps trading for Hader is going to become more palatable?
  22. I’ll be a bit generous. Let’s offer them two potatoes
  23. I certainly wouldn’t mind House. From what I’ve read about him, he’s got a big arm and potential for power. Perhaps we could move him to 3B.
  24. Are you meaning Garrett Richards? Huge injury risk since he's missed most of 2016-2017-2018-2019 with injuries and recovery issues. Maybe a small non-guaranteed contract, but nothing more IMO. Sounds like our kind of signing.
