  1. I don't know. I have a feeling that if this was implemented, the Brewers would somehow screw that up. Not a logical hypothesis by any means. More of a gut feeling.
  2. And there's the mystery player! I'm sure that he'll be drafted next year. Can't go wrong with a 92mph fastball and a good arsenal of pitches.
  3. What was the slot value for pick 72?
  4. That's probably what the FO was thinking when they signed Lohse, but look how things turned out. Yes, you can have talented players on a team but in the game of baseball lots and lots of things could go wrong. I don't think that being perpetual buyers would be sustainable especially for a mid-market team like the Brewers. At some point the bubble's going to burst and it is very possible that this team could go into chronic Astros-mode. At this point the Brewers should start focusing on looking ahead to the future and replenish the farm system than rather hoping that they're one or two major league guys from competing.
  5. Omar Garcia signs with the Brewers https://twitter.com/therealOG_10/status/343760967957626880
  6. There's always next year. I wish him the best for next year!
  7. Garrett Cooper is planning to sign his contract tomorrow:
  8. Draft ALL the bullpen guys! Hobbs Johnson, LHP, another potential bullpen guy.
  9. Huh, a high school guy! Tanner Norton, Catcher
  10. You can say that about most high school guys at this point.
  11. And Trevor Clifton gets drafted by the Cubs.
  12. Here we go, another potential relief pitcher.
  13. I firmly believe there will be no suspensions for anyone. It's becoming more and more clear by he day that MLB has nothing and is just blustering. So basically MLB is North Korea.
  14. https://twitter.com/KevMassoth/status/343178716437950464
  15. According to Brandon Diaz's agent, Diaz has agreed to terms with the Brewers.
  16. Honestly what more can you do with limited funds? Many of these guys who are actually signable in the later rounds are EXTREMELY unlikely to become above-average players. Those who have great talent, especially high school guys, are expensive. Don't necessarily blame the scouting department. Blame Mark A. for signing Lohse, and then blame Bud Selig for the new CBA.
  17. As for Brandon Diaz, here's a scouting report from perfect game: Speed/power combo seems nice, and he's a HSer to boot so there's lots of development time left. You could do a whole lot worse with an 8th round pick.
  18. For this draft their later round draft picks don't seem awe-inspiring either. They're younger, I can give you that, but not that awe-inspiring... at least IMO.
  19. Not Seid's fault for having very little to spend on draft picks. Which may be a built in excuse to give him another year. Hopefully I feel as good about this draft as next year as I did about the 2012 draft before this season started. I think finally Seid's going in the right direction with the draft. If he's given a large enough budget for the draft he could do well with next year's draft as well.
  20. Not Seid's fault for having very little to spend on draft picks.
  21. Not so much with the day 1 picks. And at this point, with the later rounds, most picks regardless of team is going to be based on signability. It's what the new CBA caused.
  22. Huh, hometown guy. Has good fastball, but injury history and lack of secondary pitches may relegate him to the bullpen.
  23. No question, and that is disappointing. I would much prefer to have used the 3rd round pick on someone who wasn't nearly as signable since that pick is given back if we don't sign anyone. Now, if we take a risk on a HS guy, they have more leverage since we will be forfeiting the pick. But likewise, had the Brewers drafted a player who wasn't as signable for the third round, they would've lost more money than if they hadn't been able to sign the guy in, say the seventh round.
  24. He got drafted by the Red Sox in the third round.
