  1. At this rate, the bullpen is going to be overworked in a month and complete toast by the All-star break...
  2. Jett Bandy is the poster boy for the fact you only get so much information from metrics/analytics and still need good old fashioned scouting for a comprehensive view of a player. Nothing from the eye test validates any of his advanced metrics that may have lead to the desire to trade an actually good C for him. Once pina and Vogt are back I hope they just cut bait and move on. He’s brutal at every aspect of the game...
  3. Boy, that was depressing to read. Base runners just clog up the diamond and chicks dig the long ball... Two permanent parts of the Brewers mission statement...
  4. Bad teams beat good team occasionally. That’s why the brewers have 8 wins...
  5. You'd obviously assume Coles isn't the entire problem but the lineup plays like little leaguers and it never seems to matter who is in it. I don’t have a copy of the Brewers organizational handbook so I don’t know for sure, but I don’t see any evidence the organization puts an emphasis on the importance of not making out. If I was hired as a GM (and I am available if any team needs one), I would make it a critical mission to teach the importance of making an out. It seems like the Brewers teach: Making a fool of yourself over swinging >>> standing around like a dork and taking a base on balls...
  6. If Oliver drake is released I’ll miss the cat people theme from David Bowie going through my head...
  7. Maybe the Brewers shouldn’t assume their players no some of the basic tenants of baseball - like when you are down 2 strikes don’t take a pitch that’s close to the strike zone - and maybe tell them repeatedly the same thing until their eyeballs roll into the top of their heads after hearing it for the 5 billionth time... just a thought
  8. Do the Angels love solo home runs? Sorry, I was moving from an explicit criticism of Bandy to a general criticism of the Brewers... Bandy is specifically a crappy hitter, I pay so little attention to him I don’t know if his plate approach is better than the average Brewer. Edit: some words blocked by the curse filter... of course crappy is ok but the slightly different version is a no-no... good to see everything in life makes no sense...
  9. Our rookie catcher has better plate discipline than 95% of our experienced roster... 1 am sure Bandy would have popped up one of those first two balls... I guess you can tell which players started with an organization that values not making an out and which started in an organization that loves solo home runs...
  10. Yes the Reds are 2-13... the Brewers strategy is to play like your team is 2-13 but hover around .500... makes for really enjoyable baseball...
  11. Suter and Davies should be up to 120 pitches by now. They both throw junk, what possible stress could they put on their arms? Jamey Moyer typically pitched 120-140 per game... these guys aren’t flame throwers...
  12. Scooter hasn’t forgotten everything he learned as a brewer...
  13. Predictable pitch selection by the Brewers... get 2 strikes inside then go any wear but inside for the rest of the AB. Of course Flores was looking for something outside he could hit and he got it... it’s just not Bandy either. I see pina doing it all the time too. No wonder other teams can drive the ball so well on brewers pitchers...
  14. With this offense 2 runs may be insurmountable... Adding Yelich and Cain was clearly not enough to improve this crappy offense.
  15. The lineup for the last few days has been last years lineup without Yelich and Cain. For any hope we have to get into the playoffs we need both of those guys to be in the lineup as often as possible, because the rest of the lineup (excluding Santana) are pretty crappy at taking a base on balls. Two more solo home runs today. Sounding familiar... We also need genital stunning devices to be added to Craig Counsell and the players. If CC puts Villar in the leadoff he gets zapped, if he selects Drake out of the pen in any game the Brewers are not up by 4 runs he gets zapped. If the relievers miss the strike zone by more than 12 inches they get zapped and continually get zapped until their Strike/Ball ratio exceeds 0.6. The hitters get zapped any time they strikeout with men on base/or they don't advance the runner. It works on dogs and animals to keep them from doing things you don't want and it should work on the Brewers...
  16. Maybe they do value defense and realize that we need some improvement at this point... maybe we could convert him to SS as Arcia may never be able to hit ML pitching (outside of a weak grounder here and there)...
  17. What's the record for strikeouts in a 9 inning game by one team? We might find out tonight...
  18. I wonder what a 1-2-3 inning would look like with Chacin pitching.... Three 3-2 counts and about 27 pitches?
