I wouldn't hang a banner but just from a pure joy perception I would find it enjoyable. In the end this season won't be considered a success regardless but winning the NIT would at least be something

We really just got Ohtani vs Trout with 2 outs in the 9th inning of a 1 run game in the World Baseball Classic Championship. That was incredible Baseball has peaked, it will never get better

Andy Reid by most would be considered the most creative offensive mind in the game, literally everyone else is behind him

Not sure I've seen a more wild post then calling MLF one of the least creative offensive minds in football. He has his flaws for sure but that's quite a take

I do think Varland is on his way to making the roster, one of the few stats that translates from spring is K/BB ratio and his is off the charts. I think the Brewers will start him off in low leverage situations. I do think Payamps might be in some trouble but ultimately the pen will work itself out between injury and ineffectiveness- 6 replies

Curt Hogg wrote a fairly in depth piece on the Brewers pitching lab, information has always been pretty scarce on what exactly they do and while Curt wasn't able to access the lab for himself he got quite a bit of info from the players themselves. I think a lot of us are fans of Wisconsin & Marquette. I think it's fair to say Smart & Gard are fairly similar coaches who have had a lot of regular season success and have come up short in the tourney recently. I don't think either should be fired and I think Marquette fans should be darn proud of the season they had, but it ultimately ended up in disappointment and I do think it's fair to criticize Shaka. His teams consistently under perform in the tourney and that reputation will stick with him until he disproves it. Coming into this tourney Smart was 377th out of 405 coaches since 2000 in performance in regards to seeding, he hasn't been good, but he had a great year this year, expectations will now be raised going forward. https://barttorvik.com/cgi-bin/ncaat.cgi?type=coach

Honestly remarkable how similar this year was compared to Wisconsin last year. Both win their conference in the regular season, get a good seed and seemingly have a golden path to the F4, their star PG gets hurt and they suffer heartbreak in the second round. This was always my fear hiring Shaka, he has a long history of regular season success and tourney let downs. Honestly him and Gard are pretty similar in that regard. All of that said this was an incredible year for Marquette and they should be damn proud of it. Heartbreaking finish but a great season

I think for next season it's possible Yelich moves into the Cutch/Winker role of primarily being a DH

I feel like Taylor is likely getting dealt soon either midseason or next offseason.

Even if it isn't right away it's reasonable to expect all 3 to be up at somepoint this season

I'd say their pen is the biggest Wildcard on the team. Guys like Strezlecki, Cousins, Bush, Guerra, Ashby, and even into Uribe & Cam Robinson all have nasty stuff but are all unproven to different extents. Every guy I listed I think has the potential to be a very good late inning arm but they could all bust into nothing too so the question is how many of those guys become reliable pitchers

Something I have been thinking through lately, specifically with hitters, let's say they only hold the prospect group(Frelick, Wiemer, Turang) down for the 2 weeks to gain that extra year of control. What would our roster look like a month into the season when Taylor comes back? C: Contreras 1b: Rowdy 2b: Turang SS: Adames 3b Urias LF: Yelich CF: Mitchell RF: Wiemer DH: Winker Bench: Caritini, Frelick, Taylor, Anderson? Cutting guys like Voit, Brosseau, etc. gets pretty difficult if we are fully healthy

Guessing they are weighing him vs Naquin who hasn't been great this spring. I'd still be pretty surprised if they started his service clock that early but maybe they think they can earn that extra draft pick

Yep, I watched some of the earlier games this week but starting the USA games so late made those hard to stay up for and now having the knockout bracket during March Madness makes that hard to watch too. I'll try and tune in for the USA/Venezuela game but not sure how close of attention I'll be paying

The Jets are basically going to run back the 2022 Packers offense, but with a worse Oline, worse RB pair, and worse play caller

Jimmy G already signed, he was top guy on the market. At this point the Jets are basically Rodgers or bust because the next best alternatives are Baker or Brissett.

We are now into Free Agency, gotta wonder how long the Jets would wait, if they don't get Rodgers they still need a QB, can't imagine they'll wait that long
