  1. Now over 100 plate appearances on the season, Urias has his BABIP right back to where it should be (.298). Aside from his low batting average (.233) his overall line is right around what I’d expect from him going forward: .343 OBP, .407 SLG, .750 OPS. I’d be content with that production from the shortstop position.
  2. From Adam McCalvy... The Brewers have been outscored by a 29-4 margin in the first three innings of their last six games.
  3. It seems like the Brewers have given up a grand slam every single time they’ve loaded the bases over the past week. Four grand slams given up in the past six games.
  4. Well hopefully Suter’s injury isn’t anything serious, looks like maybe a cramp? Big spot for Weigel here to try to keep them in it.
  5. I didn’t see the Garcia fly out, but Taylor absolutely unloaded on that ball that went just barely foul of the pole. It does seem like everything is going against them right now.
  6. Agree that Rogers is tough, but for some reason in my mind he completely shutdown the Brewers hitters, so I was pleasantly surprised to be reminded that some of the hitters in tonight’s lineup faired alright against him last time out, or at least combined for a few hits... Wong: 2-for-3 Taylor: 2-for-3 Urias: 1-for-1 McKinney: 1-for-2
  7. I feel like we should have a pool for predicting the date Hernán debuts with the major league club this season. I’ll go with May 21st.
  8. Per the Brewers... INF/OF Hernán Pérez has been signed to a Minor League contract and assigned to Triple-A Nashville.
  9. Brent Suter: Batter (Marlins) vs Pitching Stats Trevor Rogers: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats Statcast Game Preview for Marlins-Brewers Statcast Game Feed for Marlins-Brewers
  10. Really surprised they’re leaving Wheeler in to face Wong with a chance to tie or take the lead. Wheeler at a 109 pitches and counting.
  11. It feels like the Monday off day can’t come soon enough (for both the team and fans).
  12. Your West Bend Silver Lining is at least the Brewers weren’t no hit today. Thank goodness for that McKinney base hit.
  13. The Brewers have had a lot of issues this week, but JBJ being 1-for-19 with 8 strikeouts since Sunday while hitting 5th/6th certainly hasn’t helped.
  14. Here’s hoping they make Wheeler throw enough pitches in the 8th to get to face a closer in the 9th. EDIT: Nope.
  15. [sarcasm]I can’t wait until Albert Pujols is inserted into the middle of this lineup.[/sarcasm]
  16. McKinney leadoff double goes for naught after Maile softly lined out on a ball that looked like it was going to hit the dirt (according to the radio broadcast). If it wasn’t for bad luck, the Brewers wouldn’t have any luck at all in Philly this week.
  17. Six pitches in the trainers came out to check on Woodruff who now has began the game with 7 straight balls. He said he was fine, thankfully.
  18. I realize there are other reasons involved such as the fact he has options while some other players don’t, but it continues to be mildly amusing that the Brewers sent Tyrone Taylor to the Alternate Training Site earlier this week, yet whenever he’s in their lineup he bats among the top of the order (third spot today). I completely agree that he should be batting near the top of the lineup, btw.
  19. In one of the oddest stat lines I’ve seen, against the current collection of Phillies hitters Brandon Woodruff has never given up a single in their 55 career plate appearances against him. His line versus the currently active Phillies hitters: 4-49, 1 double, 3 home runs, 20 strikeouts, 6 walks Put into a different context, in Woodruff’s past three starts against the Phillies they have just one hit in each of his three starts against them. As a team the Phillies have hit .055 with a .270 OPS against him in 18 innings.
  20. Brandon Woodruff: Batter (Phillies) vs Pitching Stats Zack Wheeler: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats Statcast Game Preview for Phillies-Brewers Statcast Game Feed for Phillies-Brewers
  21. Rock is wrong, Shaw is 0-2 with two strikeouts against Alvarado coming into tonight. EDIT: Make that three strikeouts now.
  22. So after that last inning I assume it’s now 39-23 in favor of the Brewers? I think that is what has made this series so frustrating. They’ve had golden opportunities to win every single game so far despite getting down big early in each contest.
