  1. Wong’s defense hasn’t looked the same to me this year, and multiple times his mistakes have led directly to runs.
  2. This is admittedly random, but speaking of minor league pitchers I made the mistake of checking in on Reese Olson (pitcher the Brewers traded away last July for Daniel Norris). For anyone who hasn’t done that, I wouldn’t recommend it. ?
  3. I’m not a professional lip reader, but it looked like he said “I’m okay” multiple times.
  4. No Brewers lineup now under two hours before game time. That could be an indication some additional roster move is going to be announced.
  5. Former college teammates at Mississippi State face off tonight in Woodruff and Hudson. Ironically among active Brewers hitters the player with the most career hits against Dakota Hudson is…. Brandon Woodruff (3-for-3 with a double). Look at those youngins (2014)…
  6. Brewers outhitting the Cardinals 12 to 5 through 8 innings.
  7. Lauer has been great this year, but this is tough to watch. He has no feel or command.
  8. With the expanded playoffs and no more game 163’s taking place winning season series against fellow contenders becomes extra important. Hopefully the Brewers can take at least a pair from the Padres again next week.
  9. Padres have been playing so well this year and the Brewers playing down multiple regulars… feels like a huge series win!
  10. Got out of it, but 39 pitches for Burnes through 2 innings isn’t exactly what the Brewers were hoping for to start.
  11. What a strange attempt from Kolten Wong. Looked like it should’ve been routine.
  12. Reminder that tonight’s game is available nationally on TBS with Brian Anderson on the call, but only for those outside of the Brewers blackout region. The game is also being broadcast on Bally Sports Wisconsin as usual.
  13. One year ago today (5/24/2021) Blake Snell made his only career start against the Milwaukee Brewers. He was pulled in the 4th inning of what ended up being a 5-3 Brewers victory (Box Score Link). Today is just Snell’s second start since coming off the IL. In his previous start against the Phillies he lasted 3.2 IP and 84 total pitches while giving up 3 hits, 3 walks, and 3 earned runs.
  14. This feels like one of those nights where a couple of missed opportunities is going to prove costly.
  15. Taylor hopefully heating up. He’s now gone 7-for-16 with a double and two home runs in his last 16 plate appearances. Also, just one strikeout over that stretch.
  16. Ball four to Urias gets called a strike. That hurts, a leadoff walk with Martinez on the ropes a bit and a climbing pitch count would’ve been great.
  17. It appeared the Brewers were originally lined up to face Snell/Darvish/Manaea in this series, but the Padres are inserting Nick Martinez back into the rotation after he was recently used out of the bullpen. Martinez has been mostly starting (6 starts) in his first season back in MLB since 2017 after a successful 4 year run in Japan’s NPB. Martinez has exceeded 80+ pitches in all of his starts and has twice thrown 102 pitches this season. So if Martinez is cruising along it’s likely he’ll last deep into the game.
