A scenario that is lining up now... The Brewers are going to be 27-28 at night’s end. With the Cardinals currently down 6 runs lets predict they end the night at 27-26. If the Brewers take 3 of 5 from the Cardinals they will finish 30-30. The Cardinals would be 29-29 and likely have to play a double header against the Tigers on Monday.
Contreras and Biaz. Wainright. Also pretty much every punch and judy hitter from the Pirates who has given the Brewers fits over the years. If the Brewers would have pulled off the rumored Manny Machado trade attempt during the midseason in 2018 I think Brewers fans would’ve loved him. Now they all despise him.
It’s going to be fitting when the Brewers go over .500 for the first time all season after the first game of Friday’s double header, only to be back to .500 two hours later.
It’s baseball. I wouldn’t dismiss out of hand. Is it likely. Probably not Next year is a big year for him This year was pathetic. But he’s earned the benefit of the doubt. Let’s hope it’s a one off If the Brewers thought (knew) Yelich’s success was tied to seeing signs from the outfield I don’t think they would’ve given him $215 million.
I’m not disputing that he’s been valuable for them, but he started the season as a borderline MVP candidate and has cooled off. He’s struggled against off speed pitches and back foot sliders. Still walking a bunch and playing good defense.
Well it could actually look worse. Grisham has cooled off considerably and Davies came a bit back down to earth last night (albeit not a terrible outing).
I think so. It’s weird to me that in the span of one week they went from Counsell calling him the shortstop of the future to basically avoiding him completely.
One problem is they are sort of stuck at this point with needing to get as many innings as possible out of Houser tonight despite his shaky performance early. With 5 games against the Cardinals in the next 4 days including Friday’s doubleheader they’ll likely avoid unloading their best long relief and bullpen options.
Coming into tonight (Link)... Last 7 starts by Reds pitchers: 41 IP, 25 H, 10 BB, 54 K, 4 HR, 1.76 ERA They haven't allowed more than 2 runs in any of those 7 starts.
He’s facing lefties a lot more often this year than last. He’s going to have to have to figure out a neutralizing pitch in the offseason to have any hope to stay in the rotation.
