  1. Kim has only thrown more than 87 pitches once this season before tonight.
  2. Too convenient? I might be lost here, but is that an accusation he was faking an injury?
  3. First Brewers’ walk of the night... in the 5th inning.
  4. That’s a really good (and accurate) comparison.
  5. Maybe I’m not picking these balls up well off the bat, but I thought that was absolutely getting past Yelich.
  6. In addition to scoring an actual run, the Brewers have made Kim throw 25 pitches and counting this inning.
  7. Thank you for a terrible throw from the outfield, because Gyorko looks like he only goes in one controlled, slow speed.
  8. The Brewers hitters are really getting tied up on that four seamer that’s low and inside.
  9. So far this home plate ump has been solid on the ball/strike calls. That definitely seems like a rarity this year. Edit: Literally the second I hit submit he calls Braun for a strike on a pitch well outside the strike zone. LOL.
  10. The bad news is this Burnes start isn’t going as hoped. The good news is it’s somehow only 1-0.
  11. I didn’t think that would be a catchable ball off the bat, so for the moment it feels like a bullet dodged.
  12. I would really love to see Urias come through with a big hit in this situation. Come on Luis!
  13. Just in time for tomorrow’s double header. Not great timing for what looks to be an inevitable short start from Burnes tonight. With Freddy Peralta gone I think we’re likely to see Eric Lauer at some point today or tomorrow.
  14. Even Molina is getting infield hits against the Brewers this year.
  15. Throwing 24 pitches in the 1st inning isn’t ideal, but getting out of it unscathed is a victory. I don’t think I’d throw that hanging curveball right down the middle to Carpenter again (or to anyone for that matter).

  18. With four days left it’s a six team race for four spots. Reminder that the NL East second place team (either the Marlins or Phillies) is guaranteed a spot. Below are the updated records and remaining opponents (# of games). Reds (29-28) Opponents: Twins (3) Giants (28-27) Opponents: Rockies (1), Padres (4) Cardinals (27-26) Opponents: Brewers (5), Tigers (0 to 2 games depending on need) Marlins (28-28) Opponents: Braves (1), Yankees (3) Phillies (28-29) Opponents: Rays (3) Brewers (27-28) Opponents: Cardinals (5)
  19. The outcome of tonight’s Giants-Rockies game (currently 1-1 in the 5th inning) will have a pretty big impact on where the Brewers playoff odds stand at the end of the evening. Edit: Mauricio Dubon just hit a 3-run HR off a Rockies reliever that had only given up one HR all season. Giants now up 5-2.
  20. I believe the Brewers are a better baseball team than the Cardinals, and for the next four days that should be all that matters.
  21. Reds now hold the playoff tiebreaker over the Brewers. Looks like the Brewers are going to have to go 3-2 against the Cardinals to have a decent shot at a playoff spot (which would get them to 30-30). In that case the Brewers would have the tiebreaker over the Cardinals who would be 29-29 (assuming they lose tonight). In this scenario the Brewers might have to sit through the Cardinals double header on Monday to find out if they’ll indeed make it. The Cardinals would have to sweep the Tigers to jump past the Brewers in this situation. The Brewers could of course qualify regardless at 30-30 if the Giants and either Phillies or Marlins falter over the last weekend.
  22. That is certainly true in a lot of cases for the Indians, but Bauer was the 3rd overall pick in the draft by the Diamondbacks and he wore out his welcome over reported differences of opinion with their organization staff over his throwing preparation and was traded to the Indians.
