  1. Not only do I hope the Brewers win the World Series in this strange year, I hope Daniel Vogelbach is the WS MVP.
  2. Forgot to mention that Counsell said Suter and Peralta are expected to pitch today.
  3. It’s sort of hard to believe Brad Keller is still in his age 24 season (just turned 25). He isn’t a strikeout guy at all, but he’s been very good at limiting barrels. Seems like the type of pitcher teams should be able to score runs against, but he’s been frustrating for teams to figure out so far this year. It appears he’s also been somewhat lucky this year. Here’s hoping he regresses back towards the mean a bit today (yes, I know this is an offense that struggles against these type of pitchers).
  4. The Brewers three game winning streak has resulted in them climbing the playoff odds according to FanGraphs (56%), FiveThirtyEight (52%), and Baseball Reference (54%). They now have better playoff odds than both the Reds and Giants according to those sites.
  5. NL ROY candidates appear to be Jake Cronenworth, Devin Williams, Dustin May, and Kwang-Hyun Kim. Cronenworth appeared to have it locked up, but he has struggled a bit in the month of September. Here are Cronenworth’s current splits by month... He may still have plenty in the overall body of work to win it, but he’s at least cracked the door for others to have a chance.
  6. Josh Lindblom: Batter (Royals) vs Pitching Stats Brad Keller: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats
  7. Not just this weekend. He's firmly resurrected his career, and is going to force the Brewers to make a very tough decision on whether they want to pair him with Pina or Narvaez next season. He's had a very nice audition. Can you imagine if, after Brewers fans bemoaning the Khris Davis trade for years, Jacob Nottingham indeed develops into an above average MLB catcher.
  8. I hope Braun can stay health for another couple of weeks, he’s swinging a very good looking bat right now.
  9. Opposing teams don't have much of a book on him after only getting a few innings last year. Hitters will eventually figure out his tendencies a bit I imagine. I think 98 with a wicked change to boot is always going to play pretty well, though. I don’t think it’s even a true “changeup” based on the movement and spin. Some people call it a screwball. I don’t really know but the spin rate on it is well beyond any other changeup on the planet. He’s perfected the pitch it would seem, and having the ability to pair it with 98-mph gas is an impressive combo.
  10. So is Hader coming in for the 8th inning or are they going to ride Williams another inning? A little curious to see how this goes down. Scoring some runs offensively would certainly help take the drama out of these last two innings.
  11. Disappointed the Pirates pulled Keller after only 84 pitches. Was he hurt? He didn’t give up a hit through 6 innings. Regardless of him being pulled the Cardinals still have a chance to join the Brewers in the dubious category of teams to go hitless in a game this week. Edit: Of course the Pirates bullpen loads the bases in the 7th with no outs despite still no Cardinals hits (2 walks and a HBP).
  12. Wouldn’t the Reds still have a slightly higher winning percentage? And by slightly I mean less than half of a percentage point higher (.4906 versus .4902). Either way it would be considered a tie in standings.
  13. Several of the games with NL playoff implications are trending the right direction, but most importantly the Brewers need to get the bats going in the second half of this game.
  14. In addition to the broken hamate bone and no Spring Training he then tested positive for COVID and was isolated to his apartment for nearly a month and did no baseball activity (including missing Summer Camp).
  15. Via Adam McCalvy: Brewers are waiting for info on Ryan Braun's availability today. If he can play, he will DH. If Braun can't go, Daniel Vogelbach will DH.
  16. Updated records and remaining opponents (# of games) for the 8 NL teams jockeying for 4 playoff spots. Marlins (26-24) Opponents: Nationals (3), Braves (4), Yankees (3) Phillies (26-25) Opponents: Blue Jays (2), Nationals (4), Rays (3) Giants (25-25) Opponents: A’s (2), Rockies (4), Padres (4) Reds (26-26) Opponents: White Sox (2), Brewers (3), Twins (3) Cardinals (24-24) Opponents: Pirates (2), Royals (3), Brewers (5), Tigers (0 to 2 games depending on need)
 Brewers (24-26) Opponents: Royals (2), Reds (3), Cardinals (5) Mets (23-28) Opponents: Braves (2), Rays (3), Nationals (4) Rockies (22-28) Opponents: Dodgers (2), Giants (4), Dbacks (4)
  17. On paper tomorrow appears to be a tougher matchup versus Brad Keller who has been pitching very well this year (with Lindblom pitching for the Brewers), so a win tonight seems important in terms of playoff hopes.
  18. Before the game ended last night the Brewers playoff odds according to FanGraphs sat at 39%. This morning those odds are up to 48%. FiveThirtyEight has the Brewers playoff odds at 47%.
  19. From the tweet that was linked, it sounded like it had just happened. I THOUGHT it was from 9/14 when he homered off Kershaw to tie the game up late to help pull the Pads within 1 1/2 of the Dodgers. No, Padres fans have been posting that photo on social media for most of the season. It definitely wasn’t from the recent Dodgers game which I figured is what some people may be assuming.
