  1. MLB Trade Rumors: The Rangers and White Sox have agreed on a trade that will send outfielder Nomar Mazara to Chicago, Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports. Outfielder Steele Walker is going to Texas in return, per MLB.com’s TR Sullivan.
  2. Yep, the front office likely wasn’t willing to budge from their $320 million valuation on Cole.
  3. Former Brewers beat writer Robert Murray highlighted an intriguing player that Seattle left unprotected... Filla’s career numbers in the minor leagues include a .412 OBP and .843 OPS.
  4. It is sort of amazing to think during the life of that contract he may make nearly the same amount as what three seasons worth of the entire Brewers roster will get paid.
  5. A $36 million AAV doesn’t seem out of line with his talent, but obviously nine years is a long time.
  6. Per Jeff Passan: BREAKING: Right-hander Gerrit Cole is in agreement on a deal with the New York Yankees, sources tell ESPN. Cole to Yankees for nine years and $324 million Edit: The deal includes an opt out after the 2024 season.
  7. Yeah, I just saw that account as well, which appears to have gotten some things in the past actually correct, and others incorrect. It seems bizarre all around, but I sure do love hot stove season.
  8. As a Brewers fan I would love for the Reds to make that trade. Suddenly that pitching staff is not so intimidating when headed by the wildly inconsistent and unreliable Sonny Gray and Trevor Bauer. It seems like the Astros would have to give up more to get Castillo. Maybe Forrest Whitley or Kyle Tucker along with some cash to pay towards Reddick’s salary? Again, seems far fetched but either the guy is trying to make a name for himself or he actually trusts/believes his alleged source. It would be sort of ironic if the Astros plucked another Ace out of the NL Central after getting Cole a couple of years ago.
  9. Nimmo would become one of my top targets if he's actually available, and if Braun can play 1B. I wouldn't be surprised if Stearns is targeting OF given that we will have a massive hole there after 2020 after trading Grisham, and Stearns is a long-term thinker. I like Nimmo a lot. He’s battled some injuries, but gets on base a ton. Nimmo has a .391 OBP over his last three seasons. The Mets seem like a good trade partner on a lot of levels this offseason.
  10. Take this with a huge grain of salt (and a healthy dose of skepticism), but this writer for Prospects Live, Alex Jensen, claims to have a trade scoop...
  11. From Adam McCalvy...
  12. I really like the idea of Alex Wood, but Walker is the guy who stands out as having the upside of being an elite arm if he’s able to put together a healthy season.
  13. Frazier's a guy who could really use a change of scenery. Just let him get someplace out of the limelight and away from his past issues. No doubt about it, his ceiling is extremely high and his situation seems to have plateaued in New York. I could definitely see him becoming an All Star caliber OF hitter with a new opportunity. His bat speed has always been tantalizing, so it’s not hard to picture him putting it all together somewhere else.
  14. Yea, I'm sure people here will be mad, but no ones knows what influenced his decision. It sounds like reuniting with Joe Girardi had something to do with his decision.
  15. I am one of those people that is still a believer in the talent that Clint Frazier has, but the seriousness of his lingering concussion symptoms is pretty scary stuff. I hope he goes on to have a good baseball career, but it’s sort of worrisome that another head injury could prove career ending for him.
  16. Assume the Giants are hoping he has a great first half in a pitcher friendly park and is a desirable asset leading up to the trade deadline.
  17. He has been rumored as available, but it seems like this move shifts Segura to 2B and Kingery to 3B for the time being.
  18. With the Angels unloading their 1st round pick (15th overall) from the 2019 draft in order to unload some payroll obligations there is speculation a much larger move is on the horizon.
  19. From the Brewers Player Development account... The contract of LHP Chris Lee has been purchased from the St. Paul Saints of the American Association.
  20. I don’t think two Josh Hader’s would get you Rafael Devers at this point. I agree that his value is a little low on the trade values site (feels like it should be in the 60’s to low-70’s), but I don’t think it’s nearly to the level of discrepancy that others clearly do. I hope they just keep Hader because I get the feeling if they trade him the pitchforks are coming out among the fan base. I know I’m in the minority on this (and hope I’m wrong), but I’ll be mildly surprised if he’s still a dominant reliever by the end of his arbitration years. I think without developing a more balanced repertoire he is going to become more hittable as batters have more opportunities to face him. Hopefully that’s wrong and he remains the dominant pitcher we’ve seen to date.
  21. More of what we already have heard rumblings on via Andy Martino... Brewers another team to watch on Happ The assumption as mentioned earlier on this thread is the Yankees would have to add other players/prospects of value to get a team to assume Happ’s remaining contract.
  22. Ben Lindbergh mentioned this on The Ringer MLB podcast, he believes Strasburg is the oldest pitcher to sign a deal of seven or more years since Kevin Brown signed a 7-year, $105 million deal with the Dodgers in 1998 at the age of 34. That was the first $100 million deal in MLB history.
  23. Rodriguez reportedly has a fun personality and a second career in music... 'El Felino' is an aspiring Tigers utility man and a budding Dominican rapper
  24. This trade was proposed on Baseball Trade Values by a Red Sox fan and has been universally liked so far by the community there. Curious if others like this deal from the Brewers standpoint? Andrew Benintendi is under contract for three more seasons and Michael Chavis for six seasons. Benintendi did deal with some injuries and performance regression last season, but has shown the ability to be an above average offensive player. Chavis has some defensive versatility around the infield (1B, 2B, 3B).
  25. Also posted this in our 2020 MLB Draft thread, but some fun news regarding this year’s draft location. From Craig Mish... I’ve learned MLB is moving the First-Year Amateur Baseball Draft in June to Omaha, Nebraska. Omaha is also home to the College World Series. And from Kendall Rogers... BREAKING: The 2020 MLB Draft is moving from New Jersey to Omaha. The draft will be held Wednesday, June 10 through Friday, June 12, the eve of the NCAA College World Series.
