  2. The NL Central standings with 20 days remaining in September...
  3. This is the 50th season in franchise history (counting year one in Seattle) and the 2018 Brewers have already tied for the organization’s 12th winningest season all-time with 17 games remaining.
  4. Neither will happen. I hope so, but I just saw the quote from Theo in this Article... Cubs president Theo Epstein said he’s counting on the likelihood that ‘‘common sense will prevail’’ when it comes to Major League Baseball’s final call on whether the Cubs and Nationals must return Thursday to Washington with a hurricane bearing down on the region to make up the game that was rained out Sunday.
  5. I really hope MLB doesn’t give in to the Cubs whining about their rescheduled game. If they change their Wednesday game time or cancel the Thursday road trip I’ll be pissed.
  6. I don’t know how important this game will prove to end up being, but it feels really big right now. Come on JJ.
  7. Really would feel a lot better if they would have scratched across an insurance run. That was a long time for Jeffress to be waiting in the bullpen for the bottom of the 9th.
  8. I want more runs (obviously), but I don’t think a long drawn out inning without any additional run support would be a good thing with Jeffress already warmed up in the bullpen.
  9. It is a fair question why the Cubs didn’t get Edwards up in the bullpen after the first Lester injury visit to the mound?
  10. Brewers managed 8 hits off Lester and some additional very solid contact. Would be really great to have a little more to show for it with a base hit here.

  12. I’m posting this music video because... 1) I’m in a really good mood following this win! 2) "Marconi plays the Mamba". 3) The Mamba owns MadBum and the City by the Bay! -- At least for one glorious September swing.
  13. I didn’t think Panik touched second when he had the ball either. Both teams now with missed review opportunities. Edit: Watched it again, I think the out would have stood.
  14. Kind of crazy that they will fly back to Washington, D.C. for one game on Thursday, then back home for a weekend series. Not many other options at this point I guess.
  15. They have bookended their season with some really good baseball. In the middle of the season it seemed like long stretches without many off days and some minor injuries both took their toll, but right now they are playing like one of the best teams in the National League again.

  17. I don’t love the FA options, but my biggest concern with relying on a trade for a starting pitching upgrade is I think many of the teams that have been rebuilding in recent years are going to try to be competitive by next season. Among the teams still rebuilding I don’t think many have higher-end starting pitching options. Maybe the Tigers are the exception with Michael Fulmer? There are some good starting pitching options among teams that probably should begin rebuilding like the Mets and Giants, but I think both of those organizations will once again double down and try to be competitive in 2019. If the Giants do decide to take a step back I could see the final season of Madison Bumgarner (at just $12 million) fetching them a good return. I am having trouble coming up with this off-season’s version of Gerrit Cole. I think Marcus Stroman might be the closest equivalent to a pitcher that could be available and benefit from moving to a new club.
