  2. Using Baseball Prospectus’ Playoff Odds the Brewers now lead the National League with a 69.5% chance to make the playoffs. There are four teams in the American League with an 88% percent chance or higher to capture one of the five playoff spots. Here are the teams in each league that currently have a greater than 20% chance to make the playoffs... Baseball Prospectus Playoff Odds (as of May 27): American League [pre]Yankees 98.4% Astros 98.1% Red Sox 96.3% Indians 88.6% Mariners 41.6% Angels 34.8%[/pre] National League [pre]Brewers 69.5% Nationals 67.1% Cubs 65.6% Phillies 55.6% Diamondbacks 54.6% Cardinals 44.3% Dodgers 39.3% Braves 29.9% Pirates 21.5%[/pre]
  3. Brewers now at their highest winning percentage of the season (.623) and have a 4.0 game lead on the rest of the division.
  4. He might end up being fine, but two DL stints over just eight starts through the first couple months of the season seems like an ominous start to a 6 year / $126 million deal.
  5. Both wrong... Haha... well technically only half wrong so far.
  6. Saladino!... Kratz!... 17 Runs!... WOAH(s) SOLVDD!
  7. You'd have to think with our bullpen, its annoying but inconsequential. But you never know. Even the best bullpens have blowup days once in awhile. Would be fitting for it to happen on the day Oliver Drake got DFAed again. I agree, but I think watching Knebel issue 9th inning walks last night, combined with Hader on the shelf tonight, has me more cautious than probably necessary.
  8. I know it is a 4-run game, but I would be feeling a lot more confident if they could’ve scratched across a run or two with the bases loaded and none out.
  9. Welcome to the board salmoxis! Out of curiosity, what time is it in Siberia? Love that Erik Kratz fame has already gone international!
  10. It seems like Yelich has been squaring up the ball really well lately.
  11. A little strange Jennings batted when it would have been an opportunity to possibly get someone on with the top of the order coming up. Although I suppose Jennings might not have been a worse option than Sogard.
  12. Brewers on pace to give up 15 runs today! Brewers on pace to score 15 runs today!
  13. For all that is made of the importance of pitchers and catchers spending time working together in the spring in order to attain a high level of comfort with each other, it seems strange you could pluck a guy from the another organizations minor league system and have him catch one of your top starters the next day.

  15. For me trading Keston Hiura right now would be a blunder unless the Brewers were certain the arm was going to significantly limit him defensively. IMO, if Hiura were to get traded it would need to be as part of a package for a nearly elite MLB player with multiple years of control, and I don’t think other teams currently place the high valuation on him that would be necessary in my mind. Despite the defensive deficiencies, Hiura is the one prospect currently in the Brewers system that has the potential to rise into consideration as a top-15 prospect in baseball in the near future. His bat gives him a realistic chance to develop into the most consistent hitter in a good major league lineup. Giving that away for anything the Royals currently have to offer has a chance to be disastrous. I would rather bet on Hiura’s value to continue to rise at this point.
  16. Anticlimactic finish, but really nice to get the win after using Hader and Jeffress across multiple innings tonight.
  17. I don’t want to be greedy, but a grand slam to end it would be pretty sweet.
  18. Agreed. I know the whole hindsight thing, but it sure seems Hader could have been used in the 8th and 9th tonight with someone else taking the 7th.
  19. An Erik Kratz "fun fact", he is the only player to ever be drafted out of Eastern Mennonite University (Harrisonburg, VA). He also didn't make his major league debut until he had turned 30 years old.
