  1. Well the Cubs-Marlins are now tied thanks to a bad play and an awful play by Kyle Schwarber in LF.
  2. Regarding the draft and international bonus pool ramifications for the Cardinals... The MLB draft pool value for the #59 selection was $1,140,600. The Cardinals compensation for Lance Lynn signing elsewhere was the #76 draft selection and $787,200 in draft pool money.
  3. For the record, it turns out Aguilar was traded in January to the Venezuelan Winter League version of the Tigers, the Aragua Tigers.
  4. What??????? His Twitter bio currently says “MLB Player & new tiger”
  5. Wonder if it’s speculation or he’s heard something. Wording says speculation. But obviously they haven’t decided on many players yet so something has to drop. I don’t think he would use the words “definitely considering” if it was just pure speculation. He also reported just yesterday that the Stearns said no "serious" trade discussions were going on and Haudricourt speculated that any outside move would have to come via waiver claim or signing of a released player. The outside personnel move could certainly be a waiver claim or released player signing and not necessarily a trade.
  6. Some more good information from these interviews posted in the Minor League audio thread. It sounds like additional decisions regarding minor league roster placements are expected to be made on Tuesday.
  7. AUDIO via the Milwaukee’s Tailgate Podcast Mon. 3/26: "Opening Day is this Thursday, so Ryan, J.P. and Steve discuss the final roster decisions, expectations for the offense and the pitching staff, and make picks for breakout players, team MVPs, the Milwaukee Brewers final record, the NL standings, playoffs and World Series match up."
  8. Interesting, that is certainly better news for the chances that a valuable role becomes available for him on the MLB roster before he has to make a decision.
  9. Can you share where you saw the May 15th deadline? I may have missed that update, but the original reports said his two options to void the deal were at the end of Spring Training and on June 15.
  10. Jon Singleton is the only other player that had zero days of service time when signing a contract extension. This MLB.com Article has a summary of the contract extensions signed with the least amount of service time including Ryan Braun’s initial contract: Revisiting the earliest MLB contract extensions
  11. My predictions... 2018 Brewers Season Predictions Win-Loss Record: 85-77 Playoffs: No Highest Playoff Level Achieved: None All Star Game Representative(s): Christian Yelich, Corey Knebel Offensive Player of the Year: Lorenzo Cain Pitcher of the Year: Corey Knebel Most Surprising Player: Taylor Williams Most Disappointing Player: Chase Anderson
  12. With less than a week until Opening Day and the 25-man roster coming into focus it seems like a good time to get our Brewers season predictions locked in. Below are a handful of categories, but feel free to add other predictions to the mix. 2018 Brewers Season Predictions Win-Loss Record: Playoffs (Yes, No): Highest Playoff Level Achieved: All Star Game Representative(s): Offensive Player of the Year: Pitcher of the Year: Most Surprising Player: Most Disappointing Player: *Note: Highest playoff level achieved could be “None”, “Wild Card”, “NLDS”, “NLCS”, “World Series”, “WS Champions”
  13. Brewers starting rotation to start the year per Tweet... It also appears Brandon Woodruff will start in the bullpen, but will likely be the 5th starter once necessary.
  14. The @BrewersPD Twitter account announced: It appears the players they are referring to are Parker Bean, Francisco Thomas, and Jomar Cortes. Still just 19 years old, Francisco Thomas was an 8th round selection in 2016.
  15. I know spring training stats aren’t worth getting worked up over, but Domingo Santana has struck out in half of his plate appearances this spring (46 PA, 43 AB, 23 K, 2 BB). Hopefully it proves meaningless, but not exactly an encouraging sign that he is on the verge of cutting down on his strikeout rate this season.
  16. I have no idea how much more the Brewers would have had to pay to land Darvish, but he is the only pitcher I felt was worth taking a chance on in free agency. I will be quite happy to be wrong, but I think Darvish is going to pitch at a high level for at least a few seasons. Trades are harder since we don’t know what options were on the table, but for a team that was close to acquiring Quintana last summer I still think they may have a big splash ahead of them at some point this July.
  17. Lots of Brewers related questions in Kiley McDaniel's Fangraphs' Chat today:
  18. As shown above, Keston Hiura batted 3rd for Biloxi yesterday. It would certainly be an aggressive assignment if he started the season in Double-A, but it seems like his bat could be ready for that jump. I have assumed high-A was a more likely starting point for him this season because of the defensive development needed, but on second thought I am not sure how much level matters since you are going to get similar defensive reps regardless. Obviously the Brewers do jockey players around these lineups during Spring Training, so it may not mean anything. Still, I like the looks of that Biloxi lineup with Hiura in it.
  19. Very first post in the thread (guess was 4yr / $58 million) I missed the Cobb deal by just $1 million total. Obviously didn’t get the team correct, but I will take it for what was my closest FA prediction of the offseason.
  20. Looks like it is 4 years near $60 million (Link).
  21. Finally back on TV today with Chase Anderson starting out on the mound. I think I was beginning to go through Spring Training withdrawl... I can’t wait for the regular season to start soon!
  22. 1. Keston Hiura 2. Corbin Burnes 3. Tristen Lutz 4. Brandon Woodruff 5. Luis Ortiz 6. Freddy Peralta 7. Lucas Erceg 8. Brett Phillips 9. Mauricio Dubon 10. Trent Grisham 11. Corey Ray 12. Jake Gatewood 13. K.J. Harrison 14. Mario Feliciano 15. Cody Ponce 16. Troy Stokes 17. Jean Carmona 18. Taylor Williams 19. Adrian Houser 20. Marcos Diplan 21. Josh Pennington 22. Caden Lemons 23. Phil Bickford 24. Carlos Rodriguez 25. Larry Ernesto —————————- 26. Trey Supak 27. Carlos Herrera 28. Antonio Pinero 29. Jon Perrin 30. Kodi Medeiros 31. Aaron Wilkerson 32. Jorge Lopez 33. Nathan Kirby 34. Jacob Nottingham 35. Nate Orf 36. Zack Brown 37. Gabriel Garcia 38. Je’Von Ward 39. Payton Henry 40. Chad McClanahan
  23. Which is why it was a natural fit for him to go on to become a hitting coach, but lets keep this thread focused on Stephen Vogt. Just having fun with you brewmann , and I agree with you regarding him being a well received clubhouse presence.
  24. Fangraphs’ Jay Jaffe wrote an article addressing the Brewers low win projection... Let’s Talk About the Brewers’ Mediocre Projection
