  1. I didn't count Tony Armas and the non-full 1981 season. But he can get an honorable mention for 1984, 43 HR .300 OBP Got it, makes sense.
  2. Kingman? Yes, 1982 Mets, 37 HR .285 OBP. Just curious, were you referring to NL only?
  3. One other sign of early season success, the Brewers are tied for the MLB lead in scoring differential at +22, and have allowed the fewest total runs at just 24 runs over 9 games.
  4. Good point, while I am probably guilty as well, why this recent infatuation with seeing Wang? There are certainly other places on the inter-webs you can your fix for that. Winning six straight road games is quite an accomplishment. The schedule remains tough over the next several weeks, but I think there just might be something brewing here.
  5. Braun's career line against Cliff Lee is impressive (10 hits in 23 ab's with 3 HRs). Hope he adds to those numbers today.
  6. http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-YrBGYQaRj-k/ULUb75P9-II/AAAAAAAARdE/yqyJnfmL8uE/s1600/it-s-like-deja-vu-all-over-again-yogi-berra_design.png
  7. I watched the frame-by-frame side view, and the ball deflects just before it gets to the bottom knob of the bat, so it looked like it grazed the very bottom part of his hand. It wasn't a solid shot to his hand, so I would be surprised if it was anything serious. It would be nice, however, if they stopped throwing inside at him.
  8. He now has 8 hits on the season... 7 of which are doubles.
  9. From what I have read, Gatewood's stock has fallen to middle of the first round or possibly lower. It sounds like he is bouncing back somewhat, but is destined for 3B or a corner outfield role. Here is part of Gatewood's scouting report published on BP this morning. The last few sentences address his likely draft position.
  10. Today's Mock Draft update on MyMLBDraft.com is a little disheartening. They have Brady Aiken as the #1 overall pick and they now have 9 pitchers being taken in the first 10 picks. If both Ortiz and Holmes are all off the board when the Brewers draft I will be very disappointed. The only position player they have available at the Brewers selection that interests me is Trea Turner. Just one more loss would have left the Brewers with the #8 pick in this year's draft, and in a lot better position for getting an impact arm.
  11. Brewers are also now the Eye On Baseball Heavyweight Championship belt holders.
  12. Don't want to jinx this one, but the Red Sox were never swept last season. It will be a nice early season accomplishment if the bullpen can hold on over the final 2 innings.
  13. Manny Parra pitching for the Reds right now with a one run lead.
  14. I have been a Khris Davis doubter defensively, but that was pretty great.
  15. Brewers bullpen has gone 9.1 innings the past two days, but with Gallardo at 53 pitches through 3 innings it looks like 3-plus additional innings are likely today.
  16. The first strikes in both the Gomes and Bradley at-bats were some good looking pitch framing. Both were well off the plate according to MLB At Bat.
  17. With both Kintzler and Will Smith having appeared the past two days and in 4 of 5 games so far this season, it might be a good day for Wei-Chung Wang's debut.
  18. Wasn't able to follow last night's game, but found this tweet very encouraging for Wily:
  19. Oglivie had problems with a thumb in his Brewer days. Don't believe it was a nerve problem though but his power was affected for about a year. Shane Victorino had thumb surgery in December to release a nerve from his right thumb.
  20. Braun back in RF today. I don't have a good feeling about the "grin and bear it" approach going well, but I hope I am wrong.
  21. Same here. Yesterday was a great time, but sitting on the couch with a New Glarus Snowshoe isn't bad either.
  22. Someone mentioned this yesterday, but B.J. Upton batting second seems odd. He looks like he is a long way from being a decent hitter right now.
