  1. Yeah, to the point they couldn’t hold on to their bats. That was a rough round of at bats after Wong.
  2. Well now the reverse sets in, I’d obviously be a lot more confident about a potential comeback today if this was a 9-inning game.
  3. Probably one Rowdy needs to scoop. Adames also didn’t need to rush it like that.
  4. It must’ve been starters in the National League because Jameson Taillon has been incredible over 43.1 IP since July 1st. He has a 1.25 ERA over that time. Anderson has a 1.40 ERA over 25.2 IP since July 1st.
  5. Not getting over confident, but leading early in these 7-inning games feels like a big advantage. Seems so strange that there are already just 5 innings of baseball left.

  7. Since this is the optimism thread, I suppose we can ask… what would be the best [or most fun] potential World Series matchup for the Brewers? Here are my thoughts… 1) White Sox - Would be some great pitching matchups, and sort of fun that all of the games (home and away) would be easily drivable for local fans. It could trigger some PTSD with having to see LaRussa’s mug all series. 2) Blue Jays - This series would be filled with some really great pitcher (Brewers) versus hitter (Blue Jays) matchups. 3) Oakland - I think this is the matchup I would feel most confident in, so that moves it up the list. 4) Rays - I would spend the series worried the Brewers were going to be outsmarted at every turn, and I’d be a little concerned about scoring enough runs against them. The Adames angle would be fun, but I would also be worried about whether he would be able to do anything offensively at the Trop. 5) Astros - I wouldn’t want to play the Astros, but it’d pretty much guarantee >90% of America was rooting for the Brewers. 6) Red Sox / Yankees - Seems like the whole series would just be framed in narratives about what Boston or New York was doing right/wrong versus anything the Brewers were doing.
  8. I guess the one silver lining of tonight’s Reds game is they are doing some damage to Zack Wheeler’s Cy Young resume.
  9. Brett Anderson starting game one tomorrow, and Aaron Ashby is starting game two.
  10. Brett Anderson has dominated these Pirates hitters over 56 combined career plate appearances. He’s allowed just six hits including just one extra base hit and three walks. That’s a line of: .050 BA / .089 OBP / .059 SLG for an OPS against of .149. Hopefully we see more of those type of results in Pittsburgh tonight.

  12. One big difference between the two is Chris Davis was considered by some to be more of a Quad-A player than a top prospect, and then he sort of inexplicably broke out at age-26 (he did have success during his debut season at age-22, but then regressed for a few seasons). Things sort of went full circle for Davis. Yelich obviously had more pedigree and success at a young age. I am hopeful Yelich will make adjustments prior to next year that make him a little closer to the hitter he was previously. I keep reminding myself of how much better Omar Narvaez has looked this season after focusing on his swing mechanics last offseason.
  13. Agreed, the Reds season has been quite a roller coaster and even during their good stretches the Brewers have matched or exceeded their success. From what I’ve seen most recently Reds fans now appear to have shifted their focus to the Wild Card race.
  14. You had me at the opening sentence… No team contributed to the dismantling of the Chicago Cubs more than their rivals from Milwaukee.
  15. Brandon Woodruff: Batter (Cubs) vs Pitching Stats Kyle Hendricks: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats Statcast Game Preview for Cubs-Brewers Statcast Game Feed for Cubs-Brewers
  16. Anytime I am disappointed in a tough Brewers loss I just remind myself of the Reds late inning woes this season.
  17. As long as the Brewers keep winning I want the Reds to keep winning. I hate the west coast teams more and I think they're better than the Reds so it's a win/win if Cinci gets the wild card as far as I'm concerned. I’m rooting for them to close out the Reds before the final week of the season. The sooner before the end of the season the Brewers clinch the division, hopefully the better it will be for their ability to reset their rotation and keep the bullpen from being overused heading into the playoffs. Also, the Brewers finish the season with the Dodgers, so not having to show LA their best pitchers would be a benefit, IMO.
