  1. I guess this will decide the compartive value of two doubles v one home run. In Brewerdom them are both worth exactly the same, you get ONE run.
  2. Wes Helms.... .301 batting average. Can we look back at the pre season predictions and see where Brady and Wes appear in the batting average winners list.
  3. no calling players gay, no making fun of players' race it never works out anyway, just when you think you got a guy pegged he shows up with some stunning beauty in some east coast city and changes his face hair a little and ... hint, hint
  4. Well, I am so happy. I completely ignored the Brewers today and spent the Sunday morn with my family. I have not looked at the game, but just read this thread. I assume we started ok and had an early lead, maybe 1 run. You know we have had the lead in almost every game we have lost recently. As I said before in the heat of the moment, Ned is not the right leader for this team. They have quit on him. They do have talent. I will not agree with the guys who write we just do not have talent. Let me see. O at 1st not worse than average Weeks better than average at 2nd JJ average offense (now) and above average D 3rd base platoon WAY above average LF LEE is above average RF Jenks is above average CF Clark was above average, wasnt he C Miller is above average, isnt he Sheets and Davis had the most quaility starts of any 1-2 in baseball last year, they are way above average Cappy has an era in the 3s, that is a good number 3 Ohka is a good number 4 Turnbow is a great closer Wise is a great setup guy Now try to explain to me we do not have talent. We have two problems 1) the guys are good, but in the clutch do not perform to their talent level 2) the guys that are not good are far too often pushed into situations where they carry the fate of the game, that is Ned's fault So, I conclude Ned needs to go. The guys do not perform for him to their talent level. And Ned also puts our worst players in postions of vitalness. This team is not beyond hope. But they have been satisfied with being .500 in August. That was their goal, they have acheived it, and now they have switched off.
  5. Little Ben' words are music to my ears "Tonight it was at the same angle and I threw well. I tend to get my arm way up top and they want it at three-quarters because it makes my fastball run and my change and curve are better." Greg Maddux was a nothing (pre pro) pitcher who threw over the top. One pitching coach he had told Greg to try 3/4 arm angle, and, according to Greg, his fastball started moving. If the Brewers perservere and Ben does too, and can actually master his new mechanics, and pitch like he did tonight, he will indeed be welcome with open arms again in Milwaukee. As of right now Ben is 13th in era in the league. He could finish in the top 10.
  6. GoodGod, I only think we have 3 or 4 dudes on the team, but Ned keep putting the game in their hands. Poor Magruder is like a lightning rod for being in the 'game on the line' situation. And Ned even forces that situation. Ned cannot hide the weaknesses. All teams have weaknesses. Ned manages in a style that exposes our weaknesses. And the players do NOT put out for him - in my opinion. They have talent and decent stats... but with game on the line, they bail. And Ned puts up with it. This team has major major mental problems. It is not conincidence. They have problems. Ned needs to lead them out of their mess. But he cannot do it. Ned is not the man for the job. I am on record to say that now. I may be wrong. I hope I am wrong. But I have watched him accept failure. And promote failure. And manager for failure. Ned needs to go. Well, he will not, he is a lame duck now for 1 1/2 years. He will be gone after next year. A new manager will take a year to find his feet, that will put us at 2008 and our good players will be gone, and we will have missed our window. We are a desperately terrible game day team. Terrible.
  7. is it more shameful to be a member of the Brewers or is it more shameful to actually be a fan of them
  8. Yost is a lame duck manager from three days ago He cannot make this team play to the level of their ability; last year they nose dove in the second half after being in line for an unlikely playoff birth This year, in a similar postion, with much, much more talent, they nose dive again Yost may be a good guy, but these losers will not step up for him.... they are relaxers and non carers The entire lot should go and we should start again... well MOST of the lot should go, they are losers Actually, player for player they are good, but something is somewhere that says choke, relax, lose, dont worry.... it is YOSTS job to kick these guys asses until they perform to their level Ned, I change my mind on you... you are NOT a good leader; the guys do not perform for you see ya later Ned
  9. dont forget you atm pin codes guys you can forget how to hit you can choke your careers away you can have mental hangups about winning but I bet you do not forget the password to your on line bank account so you can withdraw your millions in the bahamas in the offseason loser, chokers, JOKES
  10. ahhhhh ha ha ha ha ha losers, chokers, scared to win it is not coincidence it is mental either that, or Kent Merker is the best pitcher in baseball ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ha ha ha ha ha
  11. dont panic, dont worry they will not score
  12. A HA HA HA HA HA AHHHHHHHH HA HA HA HA HA read my post to the Reds fan... we will do some bone head play..... we always do our manager will do some completely weird thing face it we are losers
  13. Oh thank you Lord, that you can show us some future. Good job Rickie. 3 hits so far. Remember Brewers, dont score runs. If you score runs the other team will not like you too much. And make sure you let the other dud pitchers get you out. They are human. You need to help them. And.... I GIVE UP
  14. I saw that line by Hinton. And Miller, the starter, gave up his first run at A ball, now with a 0.73 and whip under 1 after being promoted from rookie ball with a whip under 1. It will be nice to have a bundle of even 'middle' pitching prospects at the higher levels. We are going to need a couple guys next year and the year after.
  15. Dont worry big boys, your paychecks will still be collectable. It does not matter we had guys on 1st and 2nd, nobody out, the game there for the taking... ...and... of course, we are the Brewers. Shame guys. Striking out on walks. Shame. Now I can start looking forward to a high draft pick. Lazy uncaring guys. Can anyone find for me some link to an article where any of these guys actually say they care.
  16. Wow, these guys are just bad. (I mean us)
  17. I almost posted this about little Ben, but I will use hindsight. The guy is like 20th in the league in era. So he is not hopeless. And there is a bunch just in front of him. So, I wondered, just a couple of stellar starts and maybe Ben can be near the top 10 in era for starters. And re Prince... are you kidding me. That is hot. Now batting .290 as 2 for 2 tonight.
  18. 20 mins and no comment poor Brewers have killed their fans
  19. h-fan, if what you say is true (or even 10% true) the great cull should start now; I would even advocate signing anyone for a couple of weeks of baseball - as long as they give 100% I am sure we could find a dozen undrafted college guys who are in some summer league and pay them a couple a grand each for two weeks of baseball then you cut a dozen of the malcontents and send a big time message through the organisation i am really serious about what I say
  20. Good job management. I think they are telling these three guys 'two of you will be the 4th and 5th outfielders next year.' And Nashville has a nice lead right now. And one of the guys will be back at AAA next year with Gwynn and Nelson I think as their partners. This is a good situation. The worst case is we get two new young guys with upside and are not expensive and are better than our current reserves. Good job management. Good luck outfielders.
  21. Being a Brewer fan and wondering how much a home run is worth seems a lot like wondering what it would be like to roll over every morning and give a wake up cuddle to Angelina Jolie. (Actually, you would not need to roll over, you would never be so distant).
  22. My point was all OPS of .800 are not created equal: .300 OBP .500 SLG: Runs = 1444 x .300 + 893 x .500 - 444 = 436 runs .400 OBP .400 SLG: Runs = 1444 x .400 + 893 x .400 - 444 = 491 runs If that is true, I am amazed. It give me so much new hope for Tony Gwynn. He surely projects as a .400/.400 guy. Is the .400/.400 guy like a .330/.500 guy, let me see... 1444x.330 + 893x.500 -444 = 479 runs hmmmmm, Tony is worth a .330/.530 guy??? that yeilds 505 runs Tony is therefore, like a .330/.515 guy that yeilds the 491 runs Really, that cannot be true???? Wow. Go TONY GWYNN JR.
  23. Who is the tallest player to ever play CF? It would be Corey Hart. He did it just the other day.
  24. Helena slumping. They are not in the lead in the 3rd. Tied 1-1. The first 7 batters carry decent averages as of this minute. From top to bottom (do names matter) .333 .310 .356 .356 .336 .485 .400
  25. Corey Hart now 3 for 3 for the day with his 29th stolen base. However only one extra base hit. Now batting .313
