  1. What am I missing? Why does Ned insist on playing Botallico in every crucial situation lately? Where is Wise? Santana? What is the deal? Brutal managing. RB is costing this team victories.
  2. Ok....prediction time.... Rickie, Carlos and Jenks combine for 3 bombs and 6 rbi. Brewers win this 8-4.
  3. ...because understanding why a swing works or doesn't work is impossible and those who talk about it SHOULD be the subject of "shots". I get it!
  4. thanks guys....she is amazingly cute. she promises to get the crew over .500 within 2 weeks. she hasn't lied to me yet!
  5. I am 1-0 in the dad era!! Way to go baby girl!!!!!
  6. your right.....2 hours of sleep....she was born Tuesday night.....sorry!! I am beat. I edited my original post. Anyway, she is awesome and looking forward to her first game!
  7. Well....todays game will be my first ever as a dad. Our baby girl was born Tuesday night and she is sleeping now, waiting to scream "OOOOOOOOOO" later this afternoon. She was born during the all-star game, so she is obviously a big fan. Lets start 1-0 in the new era!!
  8. I was being sarcastic genious. I never said Butch deserved to get canned but hitting coachs are hired to be fired. If Milwaukee comes out of the gate cold in the 2nd half all options should be on the table and that includes firing Wynegar. There are not many things that could be done to shake up this team, but getting the offense a new leader might be something to consider. I stand by that despite the fact that they got 2 wins over a bunch of 21 year olds. Butch is still on very shaky ground. By the way, Harold Reynolds did a breakdown a few days ago of Giambi's struggles and what he has done to turn it around. It mirrored exactly what I have been saying about Jenkins all year. If anyone saw it, THAT is exactly what I have trying to say. Harold drilled it.
  9. Fire Wynegar? Are you kidding? He should be given a huge raise ASAP! I hope DM is drawing up the papers now!
  10. Harold Wynegar had a career OPS of .695 compared to a league average of .726. In no way is that "good". I am not saying you have to have been a great MLB hitter to teach, but saying Butch was a "good" hitter is garbage.
  11. Yes. I believe the fans follow the team and react to what it does. It is part of the overall equation. If fans feel that the team is content being a perennial loser, it will negatively effect sales and the ability to market this team. I am not saying that the day Butch is fired that profits will go up 2%, but I am saying that at least it shows people following this team that failure is not acceptable and improvements will be saught.
  12. Its a choice between doing nothing and doing something. Neither will likely make a huge difference. It has more to do with showing that the status quo is not acceptable to the organization or the fans.
  13. Why would you limit your research to the 35 year history of the Milwaukee Brewers? Thats sort of short sighted. There are 30+ teams in a 100+ year old league. Batting coaches get canned when the team needs a wake up call. I am not saying its always fair. I am not saying it always helps. I AM saying that this team needs a fire lit under their ass's and perhaps the best way to do that is put someone else in Wynegars position to see if they can make any positive changes. Butch seems nice but it isn't working. Blaming the payroll does no one any good. Giving our offense a new polishing MIGHT. Its worth a shot. Butch hasn't done anything extraordinary to merit special treatment. The season is slipping away. Its not even about FIRING Butch. Its about offering the players a new perspective and letting someone else try to pound things into their skulls. Once again, I am not saying its fair or even deserved but firing the batting coach could be the spark the team needs. Saying its not going to accomplish anything so why bother is an insult to the whole concept of being a batting coach. Are they all interchangable/disposable/generic coaches? I don't believe they are and I believe a new one has at least a chance at making something good happen.
  14. Royster=Small sample Have we learned nothing from the collective thoughts of our little group?
  15. ......just because royster sucked doesn't mean changes shouldnt be attempted.
  16. Well isn't a batting coach there to bring out the best in each hitter? I dont see anyone on this team, outside of bill hall, playing above expectations. Unless Wynegar has been deemed the absolute best batting coach possible for the milwaukee brewers, he should be fired. Once again, this is a combonation of many things which all add up to a perhaps unfair but necessary firing. Butch might be doing a good job but the results are NOT there. Dude, comparing your job to ANYTHING regarding MLB or any professional sport is ludacris. I cant believe you even tried that. There are no similarities between major sports jobs and the rest of the world. Unless you run this site while playing a major league sport you cant compare your job to that of a pro coach/athlete. Its apples and oranges. Pro sports coachs are tossed into the fire mid season just to sjake things up. Sacfificial lambs. Whatever. Someone has to be the fall guy. Its not going to be Ned, Mike or the base/bench coachs. Its going to be Butch and it should come before the season is a complete loss.
  17. Well......Hell, God, Crap! Just a few choice words that have allready been used here this fine evening.... So firing Butch wouldnt make a difference but Ned reaming the team behind closed doors will? Butch playing the role of "good" cop would wake this team up? I just don't agree. I think someone needs to be the sacrificial lamb, as you call it. I never said anything to the contrary. Dont tell me to just admit something I have already publically put on record. I said it. It may or may not be Butch's fault, but the dude needs to get canned. I never said its his entire fault or that there is anything different he can do. He gets the shaft, but to bad. Lets start hitting.
  18. Your right. The number of hits a team gets should be the deciding factor in determining how good the batting coach is. In fact, we had more hits so I think we should protest the result of the game. We had the better offense! We should have be granted a victory! Lets start a letter writing campaign! Sorry dude, but someone needs to get their cage rattled and there are not that many options. Can Ned? Not gonna happen. Can Maddux? Not going to happen. Big trade? Not bloody likely. Can Butch? Why the hell not? The proof is in the pudding. Great pitching all year. Way more loses than wins. The offense can ever do a damn thing. Firing Butch, while perhaps less than fair, is something that will shake things up and hopefully make SOME improvement. I like Butch as much as the next guy, but once again this team is incapable of giving the team enough runs to win games. Something has to change.
  19. when does the friggen hammer drop? someone needs to get canned. This season, much like the previous 12, is slipping away again.
  20. oh well... another studly pitching performance down the tubes..... our offense rocks. Wynager rules.
  21. Because their pitching staff is among the best in the league and they still have lost far more games than they have won.
  22. Batting coachs are not given lifetime terms a la supreme court judges. The team is horrible offensively and there needs to be a shakeup. Wynegar is the fall guy. Sorry Butch. There needs to be a change and the first to go is the batting coach. Why are you guys so opposed to firing the BC? Because "nothing is going to change"? Not good enough. We know for SURE nothing will change if the status quo is maintained. Something MIGHT click if a change is made. Butch seems like a really nice guy and I would be sad to see him go, but it goes with the job. If the team doesn't hit, the BC hits the road.
  23. I never said it was his "fault". I implied that its time his arse was canned. An axe needs to fall, and it ain't going to be Nedly, yet. This offense goes into embaressingly horrid funks, and someone needs to take the fall. 9 hits in 21 innings doesn't cut it, especially at a time where this team could have made a statement.
  24. ...and once again..... somewhere in the world....a big fat huge check is being made out to...... Harold D. Wynegar ....
  25. overbay seems to have traded his bat for a wet newspaper.
