To play devils advocate, what I think RR means is that worrying about a players contract and escalators isnt his job, that is the GMs job. His job is to manage games and use the players in the right situations, regardless of contracts.

Wow.....some of you have just lost your mind. This team is still the best team in the division and the 2nd best team in the NL Have you watched them play on the road this year? After this series they are going to play 2 series against progressively better teams then the one they are getting beaten up by. What have they done to give any type of optimism? I would agree, but McGehee and Yuni arent the sole reason they are losing. Pitching, has been more of a killer then the offense.

If that happened, I would be curious to see when the last time a consistant starter was traded twice within the same division without being a FA.

Not a bad day for Cody though. He is now part of the union, gets the minimum pension, whether he plays again and (correct me if I am wrong), gets MLB minimum salary for the rest of the year.

The other problem you have is that Wilson can play the positions that Counsell does and at this point just as well. Both players are redundant at this point, and one needs to go. -
