  1. Branyan can put up a .850 OPS vs. RH pitchers. We only have one other hitter who has a better chance of doing that. Who cares if he strikes out 40% of the time?
  2. we don't need stewart to play 3b in Nashville. we have branyan and dillon and nelson and nunez to do that! http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  3. when does brad nelson get into the "blast from the past" section?
  4. I don't think so, though it would probably be in a career year. If he can keep hitting well over .300. 45 doubles, 10 triples, and 15 HR would about do it, wouldn't it? But, he's not going to be a .900 OPS guy. If he is over an .800 OPS guy, that's a fine CF. If he is a .850 OPS guy with .400 OBP, that plays pretty well everywhere except 1b, though not terrible there.
  5. seems some of y'all moderators combine thread pretty spontaneously. For example: Are we only going to have one lineup thread the entire year? Even if there have been major roster changes? Seems if a thread drops down to page 3 or 4, you could have another thread on the topic, as long as it's not a complete rehash.

  7. hardy is not the same as hall with less power. hardy strikes out much less.
  8. They HAVE been fast-tracking Brantley. He was called up to Huntsville last year, while the older Ford was promoted to Brevard. He'll walk every 10 AB, at least, even before he develops any power (which I think he will), though you don't have to walk much if you are hitting .320 in the majors.
  9. Up: Cameron, Branyan. Down: Gwynn, Stetter (or sheets to retroactive DL). We'd have Branyan as the "power" LH pinch hitter, and Counsell as the other LH PH. Branyan could also get a start a week at 3b until Billy starts hitting RH pitchers. when kapler finally comes down to earth: Up: Dillon Down: Kapler (Hart becomes backup CF). ======= I get the idea of combining threads, I just think you guys do it a bit too much. Sigh.
  10. Darrell Porter should definitely get a look at C. Tommy Harper's 3B in 1970 was probably better MUCH than Cirillo's, adjusted for era. He was a 30-30 guy. Moose Haas's 1980? Doug Jones 1997?
  11. too live brew, you didn't credit the picture. unless I'm mistaken, that's civil war general Burnside, which is where the term sideburns actually originated.
  12. I don't really see why it should be assumed he'll never hit more than 25 HR again. He's on a significantly faster rate this season while sporting a lower than expected average. 30 HR wouldn't surprise me at all. More than 35 would surprise me a lot.
  13. aguillar and Brantley are finding little opposition in their leagues. Aguillar has been closing at Brevard, while Huntsville uses a closer-by-committee (with good results); I could see him getting promoted. There is no room in Nashville for Brantley or LaPorta, but there could be if one of the major league veterans moves off. Taylor Green could get moved if dominoes fall and gamel gets promoted (again, at the loss of a veteran in Nashville).
  14. Dunn was extended last season; if he leaves it will be in a trade. When Griffey leaves, it will probably be to a golf course. Bailey still hasn't done anything, and Votto and Encarnacion are not going to be stars, imo.
  15. cedeno has back-pedalled from his initial statement.
  16. I thought they regularly promote guys at midyear, but typically wait until all-star teams are picked. brantley, ford, parra, gallardo...all got promoted last year.
  17. let's complain about hall when he's not leading the team in HR and RBI.
  18. He's giving the team lots of opportunities for late inning comeback wins. This should help the team in this situation later, when he or another pitcher isn't doing it on purpose. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  19. aj burnett, if you are talking about a rental for the rest of the season.
  20. If a guy is hitting .350 or slugging .600 or striking out 12/9 or an ERA < 1.5, he needs better competition. It also seems to have been the brewers SOP to promote to AAA rather than straight from AA to milwaukee.
  21. Cubs, and StL are the big winners among the teams they've played.
  22. because he is abusing his league, not to fill a need for another team. and will fermaint get demoted again?
  23. brewers are 3rd in rpi and 4th in strength of schedule. It will be awhile before they get a run at the Pittsburghs and Nationals of the world. That's when they'll take the division.
  24. I really think Weeks takes the leadoff role very seriously, particularly seeing a lot of pitches. He'd probably be more effective if he was more agressive, a la Braun.
  25. I haven't waded into this before now because I haven't seen Brewer play. If I had seen him play numerous times, I think I could come to a pretty good conclusion concerning his chances to make the grade at SS. If I can do that, then scouts and coaches can certainly do that too. Brent needs to start hitting or he will be spending a third year in WV, or becoming a non-prospect.
