I dont really want Davis but there seems to be nothing better available. McClung and Burns are more like 6th and 7th starters so Davis would be an improvement over them and he is better than Suppan and Looper as well.

What should we expect from this starting rotation. We have Gallardo and 4 number 5s. Melvin needs to make a trade even if its for a guy like Doug Davis.

The scrubs cant score any runs till they run into our pitching staff.

I have news for the guys that think McClung is good; he isnt. He walks too many guys and will never be consistent enough to be counted on in any role.

This series worries me. I hate playing the scrubs especially knowing Gallardo wont be pitching.

The point I tried to make when I started this thread is that they need to make a choice about Gamel; either play him every day here or let him play every day in Nashville. Gamel is a big part of the teams future and they are doing both he and the team a disservice with this sporadic playing time. Most reports say he still needs work on his defense and sitting on the bench is no way to help his defensive development. It just makes no sense to have your number one prospect wasting precious service time in a pinch hitting role. Bench roles are meant for veterans or guys with little upside. Its not like Gamel is going to be the difference in us making the playoffs as a pinch hitter. I am extremely disappointed in Melvin for letting Gamel rot on the bench. If they feel that McGehee and Counsell are better options (an opinion I strongly disagree about especially regarding Counsell) then let Gamel develop in AAA until Counsell goes into a funk. If Melvin feels that Gamel should play more then he needs to let Macha know this. Either way what they are doing now is wrong for both the team and for the career of Mat Gamel.

Macha clearly has no confidence in Gamel. He let Kendall the automatic out hit in the 8th down 1-0 but he pinch hits for Gamel in the ninth. Its time we sent Mat down to Nashville because Macha obviously doesnt realize how good he is.

I couldnt agree more with the premise of this post. Its as if Macha doesnt know that Gallardo threw less than 50 innings last season. This organization has one young ace starter and thats Gallardo. We need to start valuing him more highly not just for this year but for the future as well. We cannot continue to throw him that one extra inning every start. I really fear that this is gonna come back and haunt this organization. He can throw the likes of Suppan or Looper all he wants. Im not concerned about the risk of injury to guys like that. We clearly abused Sheets and Sabathia last year and that was bad enough; its excusable though because they were not going to be a part of our future. With Gallardo we need to be a lot smarter as he is as important as any member of this organization both today and for years to come.

Why does Gamel get pinch hit for but Kendall gets to hit in the eighth. Between that and the baserunning mistake this is a bad loss.

I would love Haren but the cost would be ridiculously high. I dont want to tear apart our future for any player especially a pitcher even one as good as Haren.

We have one young franchise ace pitcher. Can we start to treat him like the asset that he is instead of a Suppan or Looper who can throw 150 pitches for all I care.

This is the type of thing that pisses me off. Gallardo should not have to throw another pitch this game. How many times are we gonna let him throw 1115-120 plus pitches. Lets remember Gallardo missed most of last season and lets preserve his arm.

This is the type of game where I could see Macha sending Gallardo out for another inning. Lets preserve our ace's arm and takje him out. Now lets get some runs and sweep this series.
