  1. Im just happy I didnt start this thread because i know I have started many like it. I hope Im wrong but this starting pitching really scares me. I didnt think we could win with it before the season started and now with Parra falling apart I really dont see how its nearly good enough to win.
  2. I blame Melvin because we should have anticipated this in the offseason. We knew coming into the season that Gallardo was a number one stuff wise but barely pitched last year so at some point he will probably hit a wall. We also knew that Suppan and Looper are both nothing more than 5's. I think we counted on Parra developing into a big time pitcher and Bush at least being a solid number 3. I still have some hope for Bush but I dont expect much out of Parra at this point. We would be in far better shape if Melvin had traded Hart or JJ last offseason, preferably Hart but then again we dont know what we could have gotten for him. If the best we could have gotten is someone like Sanchez then it is understandable why we didnt make a move. This season just goes to show how important it is to develop your own arms and Im happy that we seem to have lots of talent in the minors. Unfortunately that wont help us this season and I just dont think this rotation has what it takes to send us to the playoffs.
  3. Sorry but I cant root for any yankee, today, tomorrow or ever. As much as CC did for the Brewers last year he was a rental and not a true Brewer in my eyes since he only spent half a season with us. If he signed with someone like Anaheim I would feel indifferent but signing with the yankees makes me hate him like I hate every player that plays for that team.
  4. Something has to be done about this rotation because gallardo is the only one we can count on and I have some major concerns about his workload this season. McClung will never be a viable starter as long as he continues to average nearly a walk per inning. Peavy getting injured probably killed any chance we had to acquire a legit top of the line starting pitcher. This rotation is killing the bullpen which was once the strength of the team but has now been badly exposed due to throwing too many innings. I really question if this team has what it takes pitching wise to make the playofs even in this less than stellar division and league.
  5. Luckily we have Kendall to lead this pitching staff. Without his expertise behind the plate our starters might really struggle.
  6. Im glad someone said this first because this is exactly how I feel. I dont even feel confident watching Hall hit lefties anymore. His plate discipline is flat out awful at this point and I cant stand watching as he stands at home plate to admire any fly ball he hits. I know Hall is supposed to be a great guy and all but I really cant stand watching him play at this point despite what I think is stellar defense. His at bat against Aquino last night was a perfect example of why I cant watch him. Aquino was clearly wild and Hall was ahead in the count 3-1 with the bases loaded yet you knew he would swing at anything even remotely close to the zone. Of course he popped out to kill any chance we had for some insurance runs. At least Gamel has upside; at this point Hall is simply a terrible offensive player.
  7. No Gamel should not be sent down. He should be starting everyday and Hall should be benched against righties and lefties and only used as a defensive replacement and pinch hitter. If we are patient with Gamel he will go on a hot streak before too long. With Hall we know what we have at this point. With Gamel we have tremendous upside that shouldnt be wasted on the bench.
  8. The situation is what it is. Kendall's defense is extremely overrated but Rivera is below average defensively. Rivera at least has a chance with the bat while Kendall is an awful offensive player. I really hope that Salome can claim the job next year but if not I would love to sign Benji Molina. At any rate we need to improve at this position because it is just not acceptable to be content with an OPS below 600 starting everyday especially when the defense is far from exceptional.
  9. If Cook plays baseball anything like football you will be seeing a lot of swings and misses. That guy was one of the worst tacklers Ive ever seen in my life.
  10. After watching Rivera play defense tonight Im gonna lay off of Kendall for awhile.
  11. This division looks awful at this point. When teams like the pirates and astros are within striking distance you know that there isnt one team in the division that is playing well on a consistent basis. If we could only play up to our potential we could definitely still win this division. On another note has anyone noticed how bad the offenses have been in our division. Besides us slumping the cardinals and cubs have been awful for some time now. I really do fear the scrubs if they get the offense going because they have far better starting pitching than the Brewers.
  12. Molina is a free agent and is a guy we should target as a free agent. I think we can get him on a one year 5 mil deal with an option year attached. I advocated getting him a few years ago when he was a free agent and although he is old he is a good stop gap until Salome or Lucroy show they are ready to be the evryday catcher. We could have even traded for Ramon castro who would be an upgrade over kendall. I dont exactly expect the team to get Mauer or Victor Martinez but it really shouldnt be that dificult to upgrade on an average defensive catcher with a below 600 OPS. If we had a lineup like the Phillies I could live with Kendall but the fact is we have several holes in our lineup and cant afford to keep playing Kendall if we want to contend. Seriously is there a worse everyday offensive player than Kendall in the major leagues today?
  13. Is Kendalls defense so incredibly awesome that we can accept an OPS below 600? Melvin made a huge mistake not going out and getting a viable offensive catcher for this team. I really hope that we dont bring him back next year. I think Benji Molina is a free agent and he can probably be had for a one year deal with an option. Our offense is just not good enough where we can allow an automatic out at any position, even catcher.
  14. So when exactly will Macha realize that Hall cannot hit lefties or righties at this point? Its about time we played Gamel everyday because he at least has potential while Hall cant do anything with a bat in his hands. Between hall and Kendall we have 2 automatic outs in our lineup. This team cannot rely entirely on Braun on Fielder to score runs. We need Gamel to play because he has the potential to help us while Hall is just a waste of space.
  15. I think Manny Parra is quickly becoming Oliver Perez.
  16. Is Gamel hurt because if he isnt there is no reason why he shouldnt be in this game.
  17. I truly hope its not Kazmir. Kaz is a completely overrated pitcher. He throws way too many pitches and in the process walks too many and cant get past 5 innings many times. I wouldnt touch him with a ten foot bat.
  18. Absolutely fantastic interview.
  19. Why do I feel like we are down by 10 runs and not 2. Oh yeah our offense has been nonexistant.
  20. Has any team in baseball got less production from its bench than the Brewers. Between Nelson, Duffy, Catalanatto and Gerut we have gotten awful performances all the way round.
  21. I am shocked by what has happened to Corey Hart. He just looks sluggish out there like he has no energy. He just seems to be flailing away at everything with incredibly slow bat speed. I really hope he turns it around because we could really use the good Corey Hart in our lineup. Luckily we didnt sign him to any type of long term deal. I hate to say it but Corey looks like Jeff Francouer at this point.
  22. Im so happy AJ Pollock is off the board.
  23. I read the reports X. Sounds like an excellent prospect.
