  1. Ok I will leave the dead horse alone.
  2. Of course the cubs fans want Ned to stick around. I wonder why?
  3. I am personally sick and tired of Neds "what do the fans know anyway" attitude. He has made snide comments over and over again on many different occasions to show his lack of respect for the fans. Face it the people on this site are the biggest fans the team has and for him to dismiss all of us like he has is extremely disrespectful. In his eyes anyone on the internet that watches the games closely is clueless and knows far less than him when in truth its people like myself and many others on this site that have watched enough baseball over the years to know good baseball strategies from poor ones. His blatant disrespect of anyone that disagrees with him is both rude and arrogant.
  4. Its pretty obvious by now that Yost cant take criticism since he is constantly putting down the fans. As far as him learning from mistakes I say that if he hasnt learned in 5 years he will never learn. Ned should only be mamaging teams like Baltimore and KC that have no title aspirations. He wont get criticized in places like that since it really makes no difference if your managerial decisions cuase your team to lose 100 games instead of 95. In this situation he is the difference between playoffs and second place. This team is way too talented to be dragged down any further by this dolt and I just wish that Attanasio would see this but apparently he is too chummy with Ned. As far as Melvin is concerned he must have lost all objectivity in his dealing with Ned if he thinks that Ned has done a good job.
  5. Saying "Yost is fine" is not the same thing as saying that "Ned is definitely returning next season". I hope that Attanasio is just saying kind things about Yost because he knows the team hasnt been eliminated yet. If Attanasio is serious about keeping Yost it just shows that he is completely clueless and doesnt actually watch the games closely. As for Melvin I would be disappointed if he doesnt see that Yost has outlived his usefullness.
  6. I get the impression that he is quite satisfied with record attendance and an improved team. If it were me I would see a team that choked away an 8 1/2 game lead and underachieved for most of the second half off the season with a manager that looks lost from a strategic perspective and that would be reason enough to fire him. Yost has had 5 years and he still hasnt learned how to manage a game.
  7. From his interview on TV last night he just seems to be extremely giddy that the ballpark is actually filled with fans in late September and doesnt come off to me as someone that is bitterly disappointed in a likely second place finish.
  8. Team Canada, would you mind going into more detail about Attanasio's knowledge and capabilities? Listen the man is obviously very smart based on his business dealings but what makes you think that he has an understanding of in game managerial decisions? I could be wrong but I see the owner as a guy that desperately wants to win but doesnt have a full understanding that the team has underachieved. Maybe I am wrong but thats the impression I get.
  9. Showing fire the last week of the season isnt enough to overcome Ned's lack of in game managerial prowess. If the guy hasnt learned in 5 years how to manage why should we think that the light bulb is all of a sudden going to brighten. The team played horribly on the road once again and the second half was a lousy one once again. The difference with the team is that the talent level has improved dramtaically but we are still an underachieving club and that is the fault of the manager. Nay Nay Nay Nay Nay!
  10. Im sure the players have been scratching their heads about Yosts decision making. Every game the guy does something that completely defies logic. Unfortunately Attanasio seems like the type of guy that really doesnt understand the game and Melvin appears to be joined at the hip with Yost so he probably isnt going anywhere. If Attanasio was as savvy when it comes to baseball as he is in business he would realize that the team has underachieved and Yost has more than likely cost them a shot at the playoffs. Unfortunately he seems completely giddy with the attendance figures and second place.
  11. Heres hoping you get those tickets!!!!!!!
  12. Brewer Fever, I think you did a fantastic thing making that call. I doubt that it will make much of a difference but it is something that you should be proud of. Getting rid of Yost would be the best thing the Brewers could do in making this team a World Series champion in the near future.
  13. Ned is a laughingstock in baseball circles. cubs fans are thankful that he is our manager and there have been numerous articles written by national media types such as Keith Law and Joe Sheehan showing how bad Ned is managing this team. Its only no nothings like Haudricourt that continue to defend yost to no end. He has now had 5 years to show improvement as an in game manager and he is actually getting worse at this point. This team should not be struggling to finish above 500 yet we are with one week left in the season. This team has way too much talent to be dragged down any longer by yost. Brewers fans have suffered long enough. Its time to replace Yost before our window of opportunity to win closes.
  14. Nay Nay Nay Nay Nay. Is there any doubt that this team has underachieved? This team clearly has enough talent to win 90 games in this division. The fact that we werent able to consistently beat teams like Pittsburgh and Washington on the road was disastrous. We choked an 8 and a half game lead and that just cant beignored. Yost doesnt know how to manage a game at all. His bullpen substituutions have cost us many games. Please fire Ned and replace him with Krembals or Valentine. Enough is enough. He has had 5 seasons to turn this team into a winner. The pieces were in place to make the playoffs and Nedly just didnt get the job done. Its time to turn the page and move on so we dont blow anymore playoff seasons with lousy in game decisions.
  15. This is truly the most frustarting season that I have ever seen as a Brewers fan. Most years the team just didnt have the talent to compete and that was bad enough. This year is far different. We should have won 90 games in this division with the talent that we possess. This team has greatly underachieved and Yost must be gone because of that.
  16. Nice to know that the umpires have conspired to steal this game from us. Also nice to see Spurling in the game when we are only down a run. These last two days have been the most depressing in a depressing season all around. We need to dump Ned and find a bullpen if we are going to win the World Series in 08. I am not even angry at this point Im just extremely depressed. This was a team more than capable of making the playoffs yet we found so many ways to lose games, from Yosts lousy in game decisions to costly errors, to lousy choking relief pitchers.
  17. Another example of how Ned doesnt know how to handle a bullpen. This is something that will never change.
  18. According to Yost Estrada made a couple of good throws last night. Just goes to show you how clueless Ned really is. Estrada is the worst defensive catcher that I have ever seen and coupled with his lack of power and .300 OBP is an albatross for this team. Bringing him back next year would be completely unacceptable.
  19. Kremblas would be a great replacement for Ned Lost.
  20. Estrada cannot and should not return under any circumstances. The guy cannot hit and his defense is beyond atrocious. I am not sure who we can get to replace him but even a guy like Rivera isnt as worthless as Johnny.
  21. This team is way underachieving. We actually have a lot of talent on this team and the record clearly doesnt reflect that. This looks like its going to end up as the most depressing Brewers season ever.
  22. Gwynn is a nice player defensively but he is a 5th outfielder at best offensively. We need to trade him now since he seems to have some value to other teams. If we keep him into next season he will be exposed for what he truly is and that is a brutal offensive player.
  23. I just hope that they arent so demoralized that they play poorly this weekend.
  24. Lets say we dont resign Cordero what will this bullpen look like next year? We dont have any guys in AAA ready to be a closer and Turnbow is just not good enough to be a closer for a contending team. I think we have to seriously consider keeping Cordero especially seeing the possibilities as replacements being less than desirable.
  25. I would like to see the following done with these three positions: C I would really like to see the Brewers get a catcher who can play some defense. Estrada is just awful defensively and I would like to explore a trade for a guy like Laird of Texas who is fantastic defensively. He hasnt been good offensively this year but he was good 2 years ago. With Saltalamacchia in Texas I could see Laird being dealt maybe in a deal for Gwynn. LF I dont think that Jenkins is worth anywhere near 9 million for next year so I would let him go and replace him with Gross who I think is better than Jenks at this point anywhere. As far as a platoon partner for Gross I would give Dillon a shot. Dillon has looked good with the bat and he is far cheaper than Mench who will cost another 3 million next year. Mench cant hit righties at all and paying 3 million for a guy who only plays against lefthanders is a waste of money. Bullpen Now this is the Brewers biggest problem going into next season since it has been so spotty this year. I would try to re up Cordero for 3/30. Cordero is a well above average closer and I cringe at what this bullpen will be without him. Turnbow is just not consistent enough to ever close again for this team and he makes me way nervous anytime he pitches. Shouse is cheap enough to bring back as a lefty specialist. I expect Linebrink to get around 6 million a year from a team like the Mets and I would not match that. I would look to trade for a guy like Otsuka in Texas possibly in a larger deal with Laird for Gwynn, Zack Jack and fillers. This is the weakest part of the team and letting Cordero go without any true replacement could really kill this teams chances next year.
