  1. I think the Brewers will throw big money at the Kung Fu Panda, but some other team will out-bid us
  2. Suicide squeezes like they are going out of style. Putting an older 1B in CF in a playoff game Putting one of the worst fielding SS's at 1B that kinda thing?
  3. personally I'm looking forward to the Hot Stove and winter meetings and trade rumors and all of that
  4. Gallardo was 21st in the NL in ERA this year, 38th in MLB According to FanGraphs, Gallardo was 62nd in MLB in WAR (among pitchers).... he's worth about 1.7 wins above replacement
  5. 109 career ERA+ Almost a perfect example of the player you should trade for prospects rather than give millions to
  6. Washington is somewhat like a Mark Kotsay of managers. He's an experienced gritty veteran and has led teams to multiple World Series appearances. Doug n' Mark'll like that!
  7. Isn't he just the Roenicke of the AL with all his bunting and base stealing? Pretty much, yes.... not saying he'd be a good hire, just predicting that he'll be hired
  8. If Roenicke gets fired I'll still be batting .250 for the season which is better than the Brewers 1B's!
  9. pretty much nailed that one!
  10. I'm quoting trwi7, quoting Todd Rosiak, quoting Attanasio, whose quote is original but sounds like he is quoting Yogi Berra. Thought this quote by Melvin was spot on: Exactly right. This team went 2-11 before the All-Star break, then had a 3-16 stretch to complete their collapse. That's beyond a Melvin problem for one or two roster deficiencies. Only teams completely devoid of talent or experience can explain that type of collapse, yet this team has both. Turn the nightmare of that 5-27 into a couple traditional "rough stretches" at 12-20 and this is a playoff team. It should be the end for this staff. Those big losing streaks happen because Doug Melvin consistently signs and trades for (and the Brewers develop) free swingers who chase every pitch, swing for the fences most of the time and don't work the count. Those types of players are streaky, and sometimes the whole lineup slumps
  11. Van Slyke is an interesting talent..... he would be a tremendous pickup for the Brewers, even if he is much better vs LHP than RHP
  12. Mark A is upset at the players. But who put together this team? Doug Melvin. And Doug Melvin's job is safe yeah that makes a lot of sense!
  13. If the Brewers are not legit World Series contenders there is no reason to pay a pitcher that kind of money, especially for a year. Hopefully they are just signing him in order to trade him, he could bring back a prospect
  14. No surprise there. That is one of Mark A's favorite hobbies: overpaying aging pitchers...
  15. good momentum for Jean going into '15 (I'm a poet and I know it)
  16. .218/.271/.333/.604 That's what Kendrys Morales has done this season. yeah, but he is a gritty veteran
  17. I strongly agree. It is completely perplexing as to how the Brewers could ever get "complacent". Seriously? That is the #1 reason why RRR has to go, to me. I mean. c'mon now, the only reason the words "Brewers" and "complacent" should be in a sentence together would be either this: "The Brewers are not complacent" or this The Brewers got complacent
  18. yeah I think it was legit.... however if the O's were truly all-in, in that moment, they would have intentionally walked Jeter.... that said, it was an incredible moment
  19. Hard to say. Maybe http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id/11589333/derek-jeter-plays-final-home-game-new-york-yankees
  20. Derek Jeter. Walk off game winning RBI single in the bottom of the 9th, in his last at-bat ever in Yankee Stadium. A true living legend.
  21. My in-laws have a good friend who used to work for the Brewers, up until 2 years ago, and who still has a lot of contacts within the organization. They say that they think Melvin & RRR will be back Take that with a grain of salt, though
  22. Now that the Brewers are officially out of it can we fire Melvin & Roenicke finally? Or do we have to wait until Monday?
