  1. I'd look for another "under the radar" signing of a pitcher like Chacin, who will make us all scratch our heads and then turn out to be great like Chacin or Miley....
  2. In the most recent Baseball America podcast on the Brewers prospects, Haudricourt said that on the day the Brewers acquired both Cain & Yelich, that when Stearns told Mark A about also signing Cain after trading for Yelich, Mark's response was "are you sure we need both of them?" Maybe I'm reading to much into that, but to me, that says plenty about Mark.
  3. Ben Gamel .300/.400/.520 hitter, lots of highlight reel defensive plays & clutch hits ... Gritty hustle Miller Park favorite guy Arguments ensue on Brewerfan.net as to whether we should extend Gamel... Comparisons to Brady Clark & Bill Hall are made. Big brother Mat Gamel throws out the first pitch at a late season game. Brewers front office scrambles to try to have a Ben Gamel Bobblehead Day
  4. I think if teams want to retain 6 years of control they'll need to seriously up the league minimum and have earlier arbitration years or something.
  5. It really all comes down to what Mark A values more. Making more profits or winning a World Series. Sometimes I feel like Mark A is PT Barnum, and I'm the sucker who is born every minute.
  6. I keep coming back to how the value of the Brewers has quadrupled ($220 million to about $1 Billion) since Mark A bought the team. With a new TV contract coming, plus revenue sharing, etc I'm just not seeing how a "small market" team like the Brewers can't do a lot more with payroll especially in the contending seasons. I'm definitely on the players' side with this.
  7. I think Pina will get most of the starts vs LHP.
  8. This really gives Wisconsin native Danny Jansen a shot at the fulltime Catcher position for the Jays. Very exciting for those of us who follow Wisconsin prospects!
  9. Pitching is worth rolling the dice on, hoping to get a player turned around, especially in a rebuild.
  10. The Yankees sure love RH hitters in a stadium built for LH hitters. It is a good signing though. I wanted LeMahieu for the Brewers, but figured it was a longshot.
  11. Wow! Thank you for posting that. Really puts it in perspective
  12. Would love to see the Brewers swoop in & sign Machado to something crazy, like a 2 year $70 million deal.
  13. You just know that Stearns' super-computer has cranked out algorithm after algorithm that says the likelihood of Yelich hitting like steroid-era Barry Bonds in September is not exactly something you can count on year to year. They need to make up the offensive production from somewhere. This was one heckuva nice step in that direction...
  14. Didn't Grandal turn down 4 years $60 million from the Mets??? I like Lowrie but want Marwin Gonzalez more
  15. Grandal has also started 38 games at 1B in his career. There is that defensive flexibility that Stearns loves. Gotta think Thames is on the way out maybe, to help the payroll (in part). Did Manny Pina just become the best backup catcher in Baseball?
  16. Grandal had an .844 OPS vs RHP in 2018, & a .790 OPS vs RHP in 2017... Definitely an interesting & exciting move
  17. So, for real, what was up with his defense in the postseason?
  18. I continue to believe that the Giants & Brewers aren't really close to making this deal. I think it was a slow news day & Morosi speculated about the possibilities of this trade, and MLB Network ran with it. Nothing more than that...
  19. He'd arguably be our best starter since Sabathia in '08
  20. I think it's mostly a slow news day and MLB network ran with Morosi's speculation about Bumgarner to the Brewers.
  21. Yes! Bring us the MadBum!!! Get er done
  22. Bonds Clemens Rivera L. Walker E. Martinez B. Wagner
  23. Hill is more than a lottery ticket. Relief pitcher prospect, 2.35 ERA in A ball, played for South Carolina. Needs to cut down on the walks. Just 21. 6'6" 185. Somebody needs to introduce him to Braun's "connection" I love adding Valerio to the system. Kid will be only 18 in 2019. 2B 5'7" 165. Hit .319/.409./.433 last year. Dominican Republic prospect. Love it At first glance Wahl looks like a AAAA guy. He's been good in AAA, struggled in brief MLB appearances. Maybe the Brewers can get him to the next level. I'll miss Keon. But like the trade. Especially optimistic about Valerio.
  24. 1st Round pick $$$ vs 12th Round pick. Turang will have to prove he can't play. Howell will have to prove he can. It is just the way it is
  25. Mariners likely offered the best deal. Having Ichiro as part of the Mariners organization was probably part of the decision making process but not at all the deciding factor. Kikuchi has said in interviews that Ichiro was his childhood hero. Limiting his innings sounds smart.
