  1. Realmuto 2018: .773 OPS at Home, .870 OPS Away
  2. Realmuto has the potential to put up huge numbers in that ballpark. Will be interesting to follow.
  3. I think Braun is a Hall of Fame type talent who struggles to stay healthy. I don't think Braun's talent is in the upper echelon of a Willie Mays or Ted Williams (Mays had one of his best offensive seasons at age 34, Williams at 38) but he's in there with the next tier. You don't normally expect significant offense from a 35 year old but Braun could certainly be an exception, with some good luck in health and with the Brewers giving him extra time off. I don't expect drastic changes with his swing. If he sacrifices some contact with more HR's that is probably a smart choice given his age & the current era of the game.
  4. Might coulda kept Domingo if we knew the DH was coming... Probably won't happen until 2020 though
  5. 3 batter minimum takes away the aspect of platoon advantages, to a large degree, which is a strategical maneuver that I love. I very much prefer the game without a DH but always felt it was inevitable that the NL would eventually make that change. The only change proposal I've seen that I could get enthusiastic about is clancyphile's post about being able to trade draft picks.
  6. I suppose then it is all just theory. You are correct, we don't have access to the books. I think the Brewers could afford a $150 million payroll, and the issue is that Mark would profit less than he would with a $120 million payroll, not that he'd lose money. And as a fan it is something I have to accept, I understand that, but I care a heckuva lot more about the Brewers winning than I do the owner's profit margin.
  7. Can you elaborate on that please? We know on a factual basis that the Brewers cannot afford another $40 million in payroll? The consequences would be that the Brewers would lose money? With the value of the Brewers increasing $750 million since Mark bought the team, I would beg to differ. But I am open to the contrary point of view
  8. This is the thing that baffles my mind. It seems evident to me that owners are not doing everything they can to win, and fans just seem to accept that. Whether or not Mark A triples or doubles his money is not high on my priority list as a fan of the Brewers!!!! The value of the Brewers has quadrupled since Mark bought the team, from $250 million to a Billion dollars. Would I be much more thrilled if the Brewers had won 2 World Series in the last 10 years and Mark had only doubled his money?!?!?? You better believe it!
  9. You guys all read what the reporters get told by teams and people like me. Im bias...but im not wrong. You think any ownership group had the self restraint to do this all at the same time all at once? I dont have any time to listen to that noise just as much as I dont have time to entertain political debate. This has deep seeded idiological roots and its definitely systemic..... Thank you very much for your contribution here. I happen to agree 100% I've been listening in the last few week to the people on MLB Network satellite radio talk about how if there is a lockout or a strike in a few years, the fans will blame the players. I'm not so sure about that anymore at all. That may have been true in the 80's & 90's but people in general are more aware now, and the money with TV contracts is much much bigger. I predict that there will be some pretty huge backlash against the owners if they don't come to the table in the next CBA with some serious ability to compromise.
  10. Moustakas is still a free agent, right?
  11. This issue isn't really about Machado & Harper though. I get why it might be foolish to give them a 10 year contract. I also think it's foolish to think that a team like the Brewers and a dozen other teams couldn't afford to sign Machado. Machado would make any team better. The bigger issue is that it is February and there are over a hundred free agents still out there. Why isn't Mike Moustakas signed somewhere to a 3 year $50 million contract? Teams are making more money than ever. As if Moustakas wouldn't improve 90% of the rosters in MLB. Situations like that make me really wonder how many teams are truly trying to do everything they can to win.
  12. We are? . I apologize, I wasn't clear. I meant my family, in our household. My wife, my kid, & myself. I can't presume to speak for anyone else here on this forum.
  13. I think most of the owners today are prioritizing turning big profits much more than prioritizing winning the World Series. They should get all the Harvard grads in their front office to crunch the analytics of the amount of extra money that comes in from winning it all.
  14. Agent39 I very much appreciate your contribution here, and want you to know our family of fanatical Baseball fans are 100% behind the players in this.
  15. It is interesting how the top relievers threw more innings last year. Treinen & Hader threw 80, & Diaz threw 73. Not sure if that is a new trend or what but all 3 put in extremely valuable seasons.
  16. No chance I extend any relief pitcher, even Hader. The chances of them continuing to be elite year after year are historically slim.
  17. I'd like to think that the Brewers are in on Keuchel. I think they are excited about Burnes, Peralta & Chacin, and have optimism about the rest of the "out getters." Keuchel would be a great addition though.
  18. Too early. I need to know where the rest of the free agents sign, first. However: I do like Baldkin's response!
  19. I guess Mark has set the payroll limit at a certain number, and they are saving whatever room they have left for potential trade deadline acquisitions. They are very high on Hiura and I'd expect him to get a majority of the playing time by at least May or June
  20. He's discovered an undetectable "clear" and needs an excuse for when he puts up a .975+ OPS again this season. It was the hitting coach, Yep, that's it (!) Go Ryan Go!
  21. The Brewers could sign both Machado & Harper, but Mark might lose money and his family legacy would only be $900 million instead of a Billion dollars. Let's not kid ourselves. Therefore, there really is no way to know much the Brewers have left to spend. As fans all we can do is hope for the best...
  22. I'm surprised that Gray is that close to Anderson in stats considering you are eliminating Gray's best season of 2015 while including Anderson's best year of 2017 When you look at 2015-2018 it is closer: Anderson 3.86 ERA, 109 ERA+, 4.53 FIP, 1.239 WHIP Gray 3.96 ERA, 105 ERA+, 3.95 FIP, 1.281 WHIP I think one could make the argument that Anderson has been better, he was really good in 2017. Anderson's FIP is way too high, and he gives up too many HR's. Neither of them have really been all that great over the last 4 years, while both have had one very good year and had their moments. If the Brewers were really high on Gray, he'd already be on the roster. The one thing with Gray is that his away numbers in 2018 give me reason to think he could be a potentially productive pitcher again: 3.17 ERA, 1.16 WHIP He sucks in Yankee Stadium. We all know that.
  23. Can you imagine David Stearns with a $200 million payroll? Wow... The Yankees can afford to make all kinds of mistakes with personnel decisions and still come up with 100 wins Jeffress is better than Ottavino btw Ottavino 2.74 FIP, 0.99 WHIP, 193 ERA+ Jeffress 2.78 FIP, 0.99 WHIP, 317 ERA+
  24. Hiura's ceiling, in my opinion, is a 2B Right Hand hitting version of Wade Boggs. HOF potential
  25. Man oh man I would be really hesitant to trade Pina unless absolutely blown away be an offer. Grandal is a bat first catcher who may or may not allow passed balls in the postseason again and is only on a 1 year deal. I'm thrilled with the Grandal signing, his bat will really help us, but I really think we need Pina. Right now he's the best backup in Baseball and can really help the Crew over the course of a long season.
