  1. I'd be thrilled beyond belief to get Mejia. He has a chance to be a very special player....
  2. Hey weren't you going ice fishin? Yes. This will be my last post till Tuesday. 1 more “hot” smaller trade is in the works besides the Domingo trade per my source. I’m out. Go Brewers!!! High Heat, you ROCK, dude! Thanks very much for your contributions here
  3. Just please don't trade Burnes...future ace material or at least 6 years of a very solid #3 starter
  4. Look at Josh Reddick to see what Stearns and the Astros value in terms of outfielders. Yelich and Cain are both better than Reddick, but there are some similarities.
  5. Cain Yelich Braun Shaw Santana Thames/Aguillar Is a fearsome top 6 in the lineup (if we were an AL Team!) More moves coming....
  6. I hope we don't trade Phillips. We need to remember that Braun isn't exactly durable. Phillips would be a very valuable 4th outfielder.
  7. It is exciting for him, I would imagine. He grew up a Marlins fan in South Florida, and will almost certainly be their starting CF on opening day.
  8. And Yelich is an All-Star corner outfielder who is capable of playing CF, not an All-Star CF The addition of Yelich & Cain is a tremendous jump in defense, OBP, and contact rate.
  9. This almost feels like Strat-O-Matic hot stove! OK, now it is time to trade for Kershaw (kidding) But seriously though... Wow!
  10. Exactly! I don't give a care... Mark A has more than doubled his money since buying the Brewers, let's get to a World Series!
  11. I'll take the under on that. Goodbye Santana, hello Mejia plus pitching (just a hunch)
  12. Merry Brewers Christmas! What's next under the tree, Santa Stearns? Wow... What an hour or two
  13. Both Brinson and Diaz are at risk of losing some of their trade value a year from now if they repeat their 2017 seasons in 2018. Brinson has to prove he can hit MLB pitching and can stay healthy. I like Hiura a lot more than Diaz. When we drafted Hiura, that was an indication that Diaz might become trade bait.
  14. Every single one of the top free agent pitchers is still available. I fully expect Stearns to sign Arieta or Lynn or somebody next....
  15. I am absolutely psyched up out of my mind over this trade!!!! To get five years of Christian Yelich and not have to give up Domingo or Burnes or any of our top pitching prospects, or Hiura, or Arcia, or even Phillips (who I like more than Brinson) is just flat out outstanding! Standing ovation over here.
  16. My biggest hope for the Brewers is that they increase payroll to $150 million or so, or Mark A sells the team. Seriously. I feel like Brewers fans are being scammed by this current ownership group, and a ton of otherwise very smart fans are apologists for the method of operations. Mark A has doubled his money since buying the Brewers, the TV revenue is increasing, merch sales are increasing, and yet we get sold a bill of goods that the Brewers cannot afford a high payroll. The ownership group are extremely wealthy people. Us beer drinkin' tail gatin' hardcore fans want a World Series, not excuses. Yes continue to build a great, sustainable farm system, but there is no reason why the Brewers cannot add literally $75 million a year in pitching payroll in order to have a better chance to compete. Or, please, please Mark, sell the team to someone who will do that!
  17. Lot of risk in signing Cobb to a big contract, only if the Brewers refuse to take on other financial risks. It is infuriating as a fan to be told "we can't afford him". That is completely ridiculous. Mark A has more than doubled his money since buying the Brewers. I don't give a care if he loses some money back, I want a Brewers World Series!
  18. I, personally, would not include Corbin Burnes as part of an Archer trade. I think Burnes has the potential to be a very very special starting pitcher for the Brewers. Archer has the potential to be a good solid 3.50-3.75 ERA starting pitcher. Burnes might someday be an ace. I want him in a Brewers uniform for 5.5-6 years...
  19. Arrieta - I believe he has plenty of great games left in him
  20. Monty - you make a lot of great points. Good food for thought that I will think about....
  21. Suppan actually had a positive WAR during his Brewers years (barely) prior to his last year. He ate up more innings than Garza and was a great clubhouse guy.
  22. Matt Garza's signing might be examined. 4 years $50 million for a pitcher whose WAR over the course of those 4 years was -0.8 and whose ERA was 4.65 and ERA+ was 87 over those 4 years? That is worse than a Replacement Level AAAA pitcher type production, for $50 Million Dollars!?
  23. Looper 5.22 ERA, a 79 OPS+, a WHIP of 1.490, 39 HR's, and a WAR of -1.0 .... However yes he had a 14-7 record!
  24. Braden Looper comes to mind, but at least it was just a one year deal. Still $4.75 million in 2009 for a guy who was one win worse than a replacement player and gave up 39 HR's?
  25. Hader as good as Chris Sale or Randy Johnson? I'm not seeing that. First of all, Johnson threw over 100 mph and was a 1st Ballot HOF, so let's just throw him out of the conversation, please. I mean c'mon. Sale has a nasty changeup. He consistently throws the fastball, changeup and slider for strikes. He doesn't lose much velocity over the course of multiple innings. Hader is a two pitch pitcher. His fastball gets into the low 90's after 35 pitches or so. And while Sale has purposefully lowered his fastball velocity in recent years to get even more movement, Hader's fastball is much more straight as a string. I see Hader as a star relief ace, Ander Miller type. And a very average 4.25+ ERA starter who can't go more than 5 innings. If the Brewers do try to make Hader a starter, I sincerely hope I'm wrong!!!!
