    too early to be panicking about the Cubs. they have a recent history of streakiness and underperforming expectations. Good lineup but still some considerable pitching questions despite burning the farm to fix it.

    Its not simply a matter of pitching but of defense AND defensive preparedness. His lists had Dustin May in the bad pitching category but its really more a matter of defense. Part of why the brewers strategy is less effective in the postseason is, especially veteran teams having more time and more experienced defense to handle the type of pressure the Brewers bring on the basepaths. I do think the Brewers are backing off a bit in that regard this year.

    exactly, unless they are completely inept, they would understand the value of the brewers hitters and flippped them for pitching, worse case scenario

    Maybe I’m imagining it but it felt like Contreras used to do a really good job of helping pitchers settle down when they got into jams. Especially knew how to handle younger guys. Haven’t seen it from him this year. Just lets em hang

    yes, he lined out but I just love the way Lara works an 0-2 count. He got it back to 3-2 and then hits a line drive. cant ask for much better there.

    I'm saying i dont think they need a very high ceiling pitcher to beat the Dodgers package, if one of the pitcher has some proven MLB success. I think someone could have forked over a decent young arm or two in exchange for Pena/Adamczewski/Payner or whatever it was

    I’m an ardent Sproat fan but also was quick to say we need to go after Skubal hard:. They aren’t mutually exclusive and Speoat has time to develop. I argued from the start that adding a Proven TOR guy helps the entire rotation and Sproat can head to the pen this year. im hoping he figures something out at AAA and regroups to help as a long relief option yet this year. But he’s not ready and he’s out of time as a starter on a playoff roster

    3 hits is an automatic trip to the bench if you’re one of the younger guys. Spread the wealth and get someone else hot.

    and the Tigers demanded Henderson, which is in a different league than what the Dodgers gave up. Im saying a team with a young, controllable arm more proven than Ryan with maybe a lower ceiling could have been part of a 3-team deal and that would open it up.

    it would be ridiculous to be convinced that the Brewers in trying to contend this year, is going to give up their #3 starter whose stats were on par with Skubal this year and with several years of eligibility remaining, as one piece of a deal. That sounds like a deal Detroit knew they werent ever going to make.

    The thing that gets me is that you can’t tell me there was no team that didn’t want some of our top prospects that are hitters and willing to depart with a better pitcher than the Dodgers actually gave the Tigers. I’m surprised we cannot find a three-way partner.

    We already saw how quickly Rengifro turned his bat around elsewhere. starting to really doubt our hitting instruction.

    gonna be tough to swallow if Leonard is mashing big league pitching while our DH continues to flounder

    I dont like the package we gave up but there is certainly no doubt this team got signficantly better for the playoffs. Been saying for months now that the Brewers (despite the hitting slump) can effectively sit tight on the hitting but must add a key starting pitcher. Thats why my needs response was consistently "skubal". Pitching starters shortens up in the playoffs and we needed a trusted complement to Miz and Harrision, and someone who can eat some innings. They had bats to reach down into the minors if they needed it but not many bats will move the needle because we likely lose some on fielding.

    Put Adams in the lineup to shake things up. Worth a shot.

    alright lets get our heads in the right place. Best record in baseball. Best farm system in baseball. Significantly improved our pitching. Lets see what these new guys can do
