  1. Perkins seems like a nice kid but if you cant gripe when a player is batting below the "Perkins line" (.100), then when can you? I think the issue here is that that the lineup is feast or famine in talent level offensively. Which is actually great, because its easier to replace a weak hitter with someone average than a good hitter with someone great. But we also see the numbers our AAA guys are putting up, so we are losing patience because its likely cost us a few games already.
  2. another point ive seen others make is there is a disproportionate injury risk to a pitcher's last year relative to a positional player
  3. Brewers FO has been flipping players for prospects with a high success rate for a while now. I dont think its fair to pick out a micro trend of one set of prospects returned exceeding those of the other. That said, the org desperately needed depth and they have been building just that with their unique draft approach, international pipeline and flips. But i think the bigger question is how is the league going to adjust to the brewers strategy, which would dilute it? if so and maybe anyways, the brewers depth is create organizational pressure now, and so at what point do they move off this approach and start thinking about bigger pieces as their depth is pretty well solved.
  4. Gasser 2.0 just hasnt been there and Brewers have too much depth to mess with it. Sproat is effective in early innings, so there is plenty of room on the team if he isnt a starter this year.
  5. didnt see this posted here but Fangraphs has a Brewer as the #1 power rank in the minors and it wasnt who i expected to see (Made is #6 overall) https://www.fangraphs.com/roster-resource/depth-charts/brewers
  6. kind of ridiculous to call Sproat AAAA, when he can hit triple digits with crazy movement. At age 25, he just needs to harness it and has been very good the first time through the order, in general. Definitely can pitch at this level, even though you keep bashing him. In a normal year, he is coming in relief and not having to face lineups the second time.
  7. Brewers dumped Durbin right after getting Jett Williams. When asked why they were willing to let go of Durbin, Arnold said at the time that its because they dont want to block their prospects. Both the Brewers and the Red Sox could have gotten Rengifro beforehand if they thought he was an upgrade. But he was always intended as a fill-in. Durbin's got a sub-500 OPS. What about that says he is an upgrade even over Rengifro, much less Williams? Durbin's 2025 season is looking like a flash in the pan and they dont need him (Pratt + Williams).
  8. Sproat has a healthy line first time through the order against good competiton. There is plenty of room for that in the pen
  9. We arent going to have those 7-9 hitters come playoffs, while their replacements are sitting at AAA. Not to say they wont hunt for a bigger player if they can find a bargain, but Dodgers also can trade away prospects if they want to. A few of these guys were temporary filler to start the season and Arnold said as much when they traded away Durbin. LF Leonard 980 OPS CF Lara 949 3B Williams 768 SS Pratt 733
  10. Feels they trotted out the "Sunday lineups" with the staff this weekend (Henderson/Gasser/Sproat). Cooling the exuberance. Not giving the Dodgers any new film to work with on our starters, like they did to us last year. Gasser pitching to Sanchez doesnt strike fear in the opponents right now. If we eek out one or two, great. Come back down to earth and get back to work and youre not as good as you think.
  11. with the surge of Harrison, its a bit less critical but it would be nice to get a veteran arm if neither of Priester and Woodruff are convincing by trade deadline. While the youth and longevity is a concern, one thing i like about the construction of the pitching staff is that so many can come in and dominate for stretches. We dont have the typical innings eater pitchers of the past like Quintana who offer nothing for us in the playoffs, where dominant pitching in short bursts is ideal. There are a lot of guys on the roster who could dominate for 2-3-4 innings, which is going to be fun in the postseason.
  12. I dont see any chance of optioning Sproat. His first few innings each appearance prove he can beat good offenses. That makes him valuable to the pen, regardless of whether or not he is the odd man odd soon
  13. Well, you gotta make the call. I feel like there is some kind of moral obligation to take his wallet if he just leaves it sitting there.
  14. brewers are in great shape but there's just no reason to sacrifice for one shot in a year you cant say you're better than the Dodgers. The Dodgers not only have the allstar lineup, but they also have 7 top 100 prospects according to MLB pipeline. So they are also in great position to upgrade if necessary and healthy for their future.
  15. i dont think it helps him or the club to be up here looking lost at the plate. he needs to recalibrate in the minors and give someone else (Lara/Black) some ABs
  16. honestly im encouraged that QP was able to get through a number of batters and strike a couple guys out and has decent velocity right now. those are green flags for me that he will probably figure it out, when you consider how bad his other starts have been
  17. If MLB were even, I think the Brewers would dominate. The scouting and development remains critical, but now they would also be able to compete on player price and hold onto their talent longer. Unless teams started throwing silly money at gutting our system. Imagine having the tradeable pipeline of talent, plus being able to hold onto Turang, Miz and Contreras for longer into their prime.
  18. "PCA looks like he needs a hug" https://x.com/breedelio/status/2057289754152997333?s=20
  19. Its not really just Williams for those 4 guys.. its 1 year of williams for like 15+ years of those guys
  20. yeah i cant understand why he isnt at least in the conversation. He's only 25, plays a position we need some power from and is really hitting the ball well.
  21. in other words, they faced they Yankees, Padres and Cubs pitching. Really its the weak players that have struggled even more during this stretch.
  22. I think Sproat is the ideal candidate for this type of role at this point in his career. Completely dominates through 3-4 innings and then falls of a cliff with his command. Not sure he can be stretched out any time soon.
  23. my thoughts as well. seems its Hamilton next. Hamilton's primary value is as a pinch runner right now. They arent likely to walk away as quickly from a $3.5m investment in Rengifro until one proves clearly better than the other.
