  1. yeah it just seemed kind of obvious harrison had to be pulled earlier as did ashby
  2. Bauers is crushing but seems he is taking bad angles and not getting to some of these balls
  3. the context for when I used "feast or famine" was in describing the top half of the order vs the bottom half. not the worst problem to have given the cost of upgrading poor talent to mediocre is far cheaper than mediocre to good.
  4. Very doable but also expect a rival to make a bigger run
  5. and now i see there is already an article mentioning the possibilty of a Mitchell trade..
  6. It's misleading to compare the pre-injury Rengifro to the current Rengifro. There is no evidence of him being the same player. In half a season in 2024, Rengifro had 24 steals, on pace for about 48. His pace post-injury is about 10. His pre-injury OPS (24-25) has dropped about 200 points (~770 to ~570). This year is even lower. He was hitting 16-17 HRs. This year he has 0. In short, there's no compelling evidence of him turning it around meaningfully over Pratt/Williams, and he is a bat-first player who isnt hitting.
  7. This will never happen, but I wonder about the trade value of Mitchell, or maybe Frelick. Not exactly selling high, but what kind of interest would there be for orgs like Detroit to get multiple years from a proven player? Lara's surge combined with Lockridge return and the need to get Vaughn and Mitchell in the lineup creates somewhat of a crowded OF right now, despite the fact we are playing Perkins. Then we have Payne and Adamczewski not far behind. I like Mitchell but he could be a nice redundant piece to use to get some pitching.
  8. I think this is where we struggle with the current choice. Pratt / Williams are probably no worse than lateral on offense and likely an upgrade on defense. So why not grow on the job, especially if you’re needed in the postseason
  9. At some point we have to stop complaining about Perks average and instead enjoy the wonder of the history he is making
  10. Suddenly that Harrison Hamilton Drohan trade becomes respectable. Flip Hamilton back to Boston for a “terrible” pitcher?
  11. Payne's HR makes it 11 in just 129 ABs.. thats quite close to the pace of Fischer, except that he's 3 years younger and plays CF
  12. sincere question: Does the Brewers' approach in tweaking players to get more stuff out of them lend itself to a higher breakdown relative to other teams?
  13. one nuanced thing is there have been so few meaningless innings for the brewers' pitchers this year. Its hard to go to a Woodford much less a DL Hall or Anderson, when youre still in every game until the final out.
  14. first im not comparing him to Burnes. someone threw it out as a strawman so im going off that. What ive seen in Sproat seems to me about growing pains for a young pitcher. I thought his fastball was running hotter and his movement was stronger in other starts than last night. Previously, it seemed he had a lot of movement but struggled with control. Last night it seemed to me he was trying to be a control pitcher and hit those corners, but then a little bit of movement: he couldn't hit those spots. I get the feeling his fastballs slowed down and his movement softened to better accommodate hitting his spots. That's where I felt the struggle came from as he may have been aiming instead of just going after guys. I think if he can become effectively wild in the zone like Ashby, thats the upshot. He got an earful from Hook and came back out and pitched to contact. Not the greatest but still working things out.
  15. Burnes put up a -2.2 WAR at about the same age Sproat is now, putting up a -.6 at about the 1/3 point of his first year in this org. He also doenst have the advantage of workign with the staff year after year but is being pressed to learn on the job and the team needs to use him because of the injuries. Given that, I think its reasonable to trust our eyes with the pitch movement and velocity, combined with his age. Patrick has been given the flexibility to work his issues out in the pen more carefully, but he has 2 years in age and several in the org on Sproat. So, whether or not Sproat has a meaningful turnaround yet this year, im going to trust my eyes and that the staff has a reason to like him.
  16. With everyone here hitting on sprout, I’ll go on record now and say he ends up being a stud for us. Young with good stuff and hook will pull it out of him
  17. Mitchell showing life. hamilton and frelick and Ortiz on bubble but still safe perkins and rengifro need a change of scenery
  18. Bottom of the order is getting it done tonight
  19. Dude is a one-man highlight reel in the worst possible way this year
