  1. Head to head with Skenes and Kershaw and the allstar controversy in the first month-plus during the heat of the playoff battle. He didnt need the lead to dominate.
  2. I think in a season where mgmt seemed to make all the right moves, their kid gloves approach to the starters has taken a toll on the bullpen which is why we find ourselves "unlucky" with bullpen injuries right now. As for Miz being soft and needing to pitch with a lead, im not buying it. This kid was put in many high pressure situations and handled it well. The staff tried to find ways to cut innings to prep him for postseason so the IL stint was convenient. When he came back, he hasnt found his dominance but also didnt pitch long enough to find his groove. I would attribute much of today to not just the lead, but rather, to the time he was given to find his groove. Expecting to see more of this going forward and the Brewers lengthening his starts again in prep for postseason play.
  3. I was at the prior game he pitched vs Quad Cities and granted im not as tuned like you guys, but I was underwhelmed by his stuff. 20 years old. Fastball sat around 85-87 on the stadium gun most of the time i checked (3rd through 5th innings). The opponents were squaring up everything and making HARD contact but mostly foul. Yeah he got 6 Ks in less than 5 innings but that was a head scratcher to me.
  4. i cant see Collins as a backup after the season he's had, nor penciling in Mitchell as CF. Probably should flip one if you can add younger prospects.
  5. +163 run differential and maybe a 7.5 game lead on the rest of MLB since the opening series
  6. its more than a rest at this point. seigler has had some productive plays at third, but he seems to make every play an adventure somehow
  7. Been thinking the same. I can't believe how bad our opponents defenses have looked this year. Seems like high school at times
  8. Nobody is going to hand Williams a high leverage role this next year. Williams best bet is to find a staff that will help him rediscover his skills. And right now, there might not be a better place for that to happen than Milwaukee.
  9. I wonder when the last time a player had that dramatic of a shift, going from literally, the dead last worst hitter in baseball to one of the very best in the same season
  10. Demanding more value from the vaugn trade apparently
  11. Brewers braintrust figuring out how to get 1.000 OPS out of Lockridge and Jansen
  12. salary dump to make room for waiver wire
  13. i didnt think it was possible but the FO managed to find someone with a much lower OPS than Ortiz
  14. well its clear that management is playing the long game today. Seemed a good year to cash in some chips but they have proven shrewd, so i trust them. Time will tell if losing a player like Suarez should have put us over the top. Now onto waivers. Brewers dont have to sacrifice prospects but MA will have to open up his wallet and i expect he will do so, if someone becomes available. Meanwhile, Ortiz gets a little more rope to prove himself and Durbin to solidify his role. Who are some candidates to become available for a salary dump?
  15. yeah ive also been thinking Rhys will add quite a bit to the lineup if he returns healthy. At minimum, we should have a better DH platoon situation with Yelich and Rhys or Vaughn
  16. maybe they WERE thinking 2-5 years but this year's team kind of screwed that up. There isnt really a marquee team at the top and we are as good as anyone. you also cant say for sure we will have a top of the rotation group as solid and healthy as we have this year.
  17. cant see a 1B-only at this point. That would give us 3 on the roster. You would expect Vaughn to come back down to earth, but probably not any worse than O Hearn has been the last 2 months.
  18. If score holds, brewers have nearly caught the cubs for best run differential in the league. That seemed impossible a month ago.
  19. Just thinking g how different this team is if Civale doesn't demand a trade. Miz solidified the pitching rotation and the offense
  20. it really just depends how the organization views Henderson. If they think he has a good shot at being a #3, then that seems too pricey to give up for a rental. If they see him as a 4/5, also having a lot of other arms in the same mix and a staff that can identify and maximize pitchers, then he's expendable, especially with a low-90s fastball whose trade value is possibly peak.
  21. In past years, organizational depth was mediocre and the team was marginally in line for playoffs but not a recognized contender vs some of the great teams around the league. Why sacrifice the future to have a slightly better underdog odds for one kick at the can? They have built up their trading chips and now are in the hunt as a WS contender. So they could very well cash some in and go for it as we've seen from MA over the years, or they could continue to stockpile if they think they will be in an even better position down the road. Having the best record this late, it seems this year feels different and they could go for it, but the price would need to be right.
  22. Yeah I just can't see dealing away any prospects for pitching when we are still trying to figure out where to put our overflow of quality starters
